La Casa is a former farmstead sensitively restored and adapted to create top quality self-catering accommodation. The rustic atmosphere and character of the centuries-old property have been preserved with modern amenities added. Enclosed within its own wall, it is a village within a village. The apartments are fully independent, spacious, well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The decoration includes murals based on medieval illustrations. There are excellent views of the Picos mountains. Communal areas include a large pool, gardens and a social room. Tudes is sunny and picturesque and its 30-odd inhabitants can still be seen herding their cattle and sheep through its streets. "A quintessential mountain village with its customs and traditional architecure well preserved in a magnificent natural setting" (in the words of the judges of the Village of the Year competition). There is a delightful tavern (under the same ownership as La Casa). The area is a walker's paradise.
The apartment is fully independent.
The doorway was the original entrance to the farmhouse and the apartment contains a lot of original stone and woodwork.
The ground floor comprises the lounge and a large kitchen with tiled floor and walls.
Kitchen appliances include a washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster and an extensive range of cooking utensils and crockery.
The lounge, contains a sofa bed, wood-burning stove, wooden breakfast / dining table and chairs, TV and DVD.
On the first floor there is a large bedroom with large double bed (and an easy chair that can be converted into a supplementary bed), plus a bathroom with bath, shower, and basin.
Both lounge and bedroom enjoy superb mountain views.
The apartment is extremely comfortable and homely and is decorated with wonderful, tasteful murals.
In July and August we normally allow a maximum of 4 in this apartment.
Tudes is a very peaceful, attractive village in a beautiful location. It really is only 10 minutes drive from Potes if you go fairly fast! The owner's description of the property is accurate. Arboles is particularly good for the superb views of the Picos from the dining room and bedroom. The interior decoration is original and full of character. Generally a high-quality apartment.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The communal lounge is a good feature - our 16 year old son enjoyed going in there to meet other guests and play pool. The swimming pool is also very nice.
Lucia gave us a good welcome and very friendly service.
Overall, highly recommended.
The 1 bed apartment in the lovely village of Tudes, was perfect for our 3 day break, only wish it had been longer. It was very well equipped, and amazing views over the valley and mountains from both the bedroom and the lounge. The "English" pub which is adjacent is part of La Casa Chimeneas. It serves good food at a reasonable price. The owners Martin and his wife Lucia were very friendly and helpful. The town of Potes which is only 5km away is well worth a visit, market day Monday. The drive from Asturias airport was a pleasurable 2hrs.
I highly recommend "La Casa de la Chimeneas" for a peaceful break with a taste of rural Spain at its best.
