5 Bed, 3 Bath, heated pool, tennis court and surrounding table mountain views.
The house is located 10 minutes from the center of Cape Town, within easy reach of the airport, the waterfront and golf courses. It is only 15 minutes to the beaches of the Atlantic or Indian Oceans. The Property has uninterrupted views over Table Mountain and is a short walk from South Africa's International Cricket and Rugby stadiums and the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. The property can accommodate 8 adults, has a large heated pool and floodlit tennis court.
The property was formerly the 'Hungarian Consulate' and seems to have been designed for entertaining and as such is larger downstairs than up. The formal nature of the Entrance Hall, Sitting and Dining Rooms with their high ceilings, polished wood floors and fireplaces are in contrast to the relaxed style of the Family, Games and TV rooms to the rear of House. All of the reception rooms with the exception of the Bar are large.
The Style for the whole property is Colonial African, the Sitting room has heavy 'Buffalo Hide' furniture, with a Sofa and chairs set around the large fireplace. This cool room, with large sliding doors opening up onto the South side of the property, is an ideal place for Adults to relax. Double doors lead to the Bar. The Dining room has a long table and chairs to comfortably seat ten, a curved glass bay window, with window seat, looks out over the gardens and tennis court.
To the rear of the property are located the open plan Kitchen-Breakfast and Family room, the Games and Television Rooms. The kitchen is hand made with a wide expanse of solid wood work surfaces and plenty of storage space, a large breakfast table with benches and arm chairs is within easy reach. The kitchen has a dish washer, microwave and stove style cooker, whilst the utility room, located nearby, has a fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The windows of the kitchen open and concertina back completely, this coupled with the slate floors keeps the kitchen bright and airy.
The family room adjoining the kitchen is the hub of the house, its wide sliding doors and the 'glass wall' effect open into the pool garden.
The television room also has sliding doors onto the garden and is equipped with a Television, DVD player and satellite box. The Bar is located through the games room (with a pool table and 'table-football') towards the rear of the house, it has double doors onto the rear patio.
Upstairs there are five bedrooms. The master bedroom has views up over the mountain and an en-suite bathroom with large shower, freestanding bath and under floor heating. Of the other rooms the guest bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom whilst the two twin rooms and the smaller room share the family bathroom.
The house sits in an acre of mature gardens, surrounded by a high wall. The entrance to the property is through two large iron gates which open automatically onto a sweeping in-out drive. There is secure parking for several vehicles in the drive as well as a garage under the property for two cars.
In the South of the Garden is a Tennis court, with floodlights. To the North side of the property lies the Pool and outside entertainment areas. The large Swimming Pool (at least 30 feet long) is kept to a minimum temperature of around 27 degrees by an automatic heating system throughout the months of October until April.
There is an area under a Pergola with a Table for outside dining, plenty of space around the Pool and garden to sunbath as well as a large patio area to the back of the property for relaxing in the evening.
Most areas of the Garden and several rooms in the house have fantastic unspoilt views of Table Mountain.

About Newlands: Newlands is an upmarket suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located at the foot of Table Mountain in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. It is home to a number of schools, notably the South African College Schools (SACS) Junior and High Schools, as well as the Newlands Forest. It is best known for Newlands Cricket Ground and Newlands Stadium, a famous rugby union and football venue. It is also the original home of Ohlsson's Cape Breweries, which is still located next to the rugby grounds - a great pub to go to before or during a game, 'Foresters Arms'. The pipeline from the Table Mountain spring which supplies the Newlands Brewery runs under the historic Cardiff Castle Building which is located in Newlands Village. The Liesbeek River runs through Newlands, past the Vineyard Hotel, and was the original water source used to make the first European-style beer in southern Africa. Friends of The Liesbeek maintain a walk along the river bank, past landmarks in the area. The distinctive southern half of Newlands, bordering the suburb Bishopcourt, is known as Fernwood, after a farm estate which used to occupy this area. The original manor house of this estate still exists, but is now used as a parliamentary sports club. Newlands Cricket: Newlands Cricket Ground (known as PPC Newlands for sponsorship reasons) in Cape Town is a South African cricket ground. It is the home of the Cape Cobras, who play in the Sunfoil Series, Momentum 1 Day Cup and RamSlam Pro20 competitions. It is also a venue for Test matches, ODIs and T20Is. Newlands is regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, being overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It is close to Newlands Stadium, a rugby union and football venue. The cricket ground opened in 1888. Newlands Stadium: Newlands Stadium is currently referred to as DHL Newlands for sponsorship reasons. The stadium currently has a capacity of 51,900 people, but is not an all seater venue. It is the oldest rugby stadium in South Africa and the second-oldest rugby stadium in the world. Various sports teams currently use the stadium as their home base, including: Stormers in Super Rugby Western Province in the Currie Cup Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens: Location and unique flora combine to make these 52,800-sq-km botanical gardens among the most beautiful in the world. The main entrance at the Newlands end of the gardens is where you’ll find the information centre, an excellent souvenir shop and the conservatory - a perfect spot for breakfast . Added for garden's centenary in 2013, the Tree Canopy Walkway (known as the 'Boomslang' meaning tree snake) is a curvaceous steel and timber bridge that rises through the trees and provides amazing views. About 9000 of Southern Africa’s 22,000 plant species are grown here. You’ll find a fragrance garden, a Braille trail, a kopje (hill) that has been planted with pelargoniums, a sculpture garden, a section for useful plants and many more. The outdoor Sunday afternoon concerts held here between November and March are a Cape Town institution. The gardens are a stop on the City Sightseeing Cape Town bus.
