Clare and I have been trying to make the move to France and in particular this region for 4 years. We completed on 20 May 2015 and can now turn our dream into a reality. It was all about the work life balance for us and wanting to embrace the French way of life in a region that has so much to offer, set in beautiful countryside and bathed in sunshine. What more could you want?
Mike Hildersley purchased this barn in 2015
We had researched the area over a 4 year period and just fell in love with the Charente region. In particular where we are as we are only 45 mins from the coast and La Rochelle which is a beautiful coastal town. The beaches which stretch on past Royan are stunning and the coastal road is just amazing. There are zoo's, an aquarium, plenty of stunning beaches, markets, music events, chateau's, the green Venice, pretty towns and villages. There is just so much to see and explore. Big open sky's, lovely countryside and fabulous weather what more could you want?
Location, close to the coast, close amenities, perfectly positioned to visit tourist attractions yet set in open countryside where you can just relax and enjoy peace and quiet listening to the birds. There is a 12 x 6 meter heated swimming pool which is amazing. It looks out onto open countryside and sunflowers. Simply stunning. Our holiday gites offer high quality accommodation in a perfect location for this area of France. Our guests absolutely love it here and are often amazed by the site and what it has to offer. We pride ourselves on making sure you have a holiday you will remember for all the right reasons.

What a fantastic area, lots to do for both us and our children.
What a stunning setting, in a sleepy hamlet with views overlooking fields full of Sunflowers.
What a beautiful Gite, all mod cons, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.
What fabulous facilities, the pool was so inviting, our private garden was kitted out with a bbq & new furniture, the pretty communal garden was full of outdoor toys for our children to enjoy as well as plenty of other areas to relax.
Our wonderful hosts, Mike & Clare, couldn't of been any better, they thought of everything to make our stay special.
We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone and hope to be returning ourselves in a couple of years.
The gite is beautiful. You are spoilt for places to sit and relax to enjoy the views. Sunbeds poolside and in your own private garden, rattan sofa/chaise lounge in private garden. Table and chairs in your front garden and table and chairs in two different communal areas etc.
The gite has everything you would hope for. BBQ, private garden, family bathroom, ensuite and downstairs toilet, 3 bedrooms and a lovely living room and a kitchen/diner. It is modern, stylish and very recently refurbished.
It is perfectly set up for a family, with stair gates and a communal garden with swings, seesaw, playhouse and a chest of outdoor toys. The pool is fenced off and inflatables are provided.
The place is set in stunning countryside with panoramic views of sunflower and wheat fields. The nearest village with all amenities is only a few minutes away and the hypermarket is about a 10 minute drive.
The owners are extremely accommodating and very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this gite.
We were looking for a last minute break and were lucky enough to come across Les Tournesols. What a find!
We had travelled from the Dordogne on a particularly hot day and arrived to a wonderful welcome from the owners Clare & Mike. The Gite was beautifully presented, very clean and very homely. The private garden was a plus for us. The owners had kindly left us some fresh provisions in the kitchen too which was much appreciated. The pool was great for our children all week (they used this within an hour of our arrival). Lovely, pretty, quiet location and not too far from the coast. Boulangerie not too far for breakfast each day. Loads of things to do, we really needed two weeks here. We have booked for May HT 2016. Would highly recommend to friends and family! Clare & Mike were on hand all the time with friendly help and advice.
