Village House in Sannat, Island of Gozo, Malta

Dar il- Palma is an excellently designed farmhouse recently built using Maltese limestone and other local features. Amongst its features, one can enjoy a private swimming pool on entrance leading to a sitting room. Another useful aspect, is that all three main bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning.

Together with the swimming pool and sitting room, the ground floor consists also of a separate combined kitchen/dining room, a bathroom and a laundry. Traditional stone stairs lead to first floor having three bedrooms, one en-suite shower and a main bathroom. Wrought iron spiral stairs lead up to a spare bedroom with bunk beds and roof terrace enjoying marvellous views of the Gozitan countryside.

The house is equipped with all your needs, including a stove, cable TV, a stereo system, WI-FI, payphone, bbq, dishwasher, washing machine and a solar water heater.

Great holiday at Dar il Palma - Gozo

Every member of our party enjoyed the stay at Dar il-Palma, the house was great in a good location with a bus stop just outside, the pool was fantastic for the kids how spent most of their holiday playing in it.

I would highly recommend Dar il-Palma for a relaxing holiday.

Ideal location on the edge of Sannat

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here (and we'll be back again), ideally located on the edge of Sannat with great views towards Xlendi, note this is an agricultural area so there will be some farm noise but nothing excessive.

There is plenty of room in the villa, the pool is ideal to cool off in the summer months, there is always somewhere to catch the sun be it be at the pool or on the roof.

The villa has everything you need and whilst not luxury we find it clean, tidy and enjoy the freedom to cater for ourselves when not eating out, if you go with this approach you will not be disappointed (if flat screens TVs and the latest modern kitchens are your thing look elsewhere - and pay the price too)

Bring only 10 minutes walk from the cliffs these make for a lovely evening stroll, great pizzas are available at Sannat Lions near the church for a fantastic price.

You will need a car but we find Majo to be reliable and cheap, and drive down to Xlendi most days for a fantastic ice cream at the water front.

If diving is your thing I would highly recommend Utina diving at Xlendi, for the Med there are some great dives in Gozo with plenty to see, not so fished out like Cyprus

The property is a few minutes walk away from the magnificent Sannat cliffs. The small resort of Xlendi with many bars and restaurants and safe swimming is about 4-5 mins drive away. The acclaimed sandy beach at Ramla is about 20-25 mins away by car.


Access is via Malta International Airport. From here the ferry port for Gozo is a 40 journey (appr.31 Euros) or there is a coach shuttle service (fare 5 Euros). Regular car ferries cross in 25 mins (ret.fare 4.65 Euros). From the harbour at Mgarr the house is a 15 min drive. Car hire is not essential as buses to the main town pass the door and there are shops within walking distance. However, car hire will greatly increase the enjoyment of your holiday, and is relatively cheap in Malta.


Gozo, although packed with interest, is only approx 9 miles long and 5 miles wide, and so nowhere is very far away. The main town of Victoria, which has a general hospital with A & E facilities, is only 2 miles distant.

Further Details:

Sannat itself has several small shops, bars and restaurants. The main concentrations of bars and restaurants are located at Xlendi which is only 8 minutes drive from the farmhouse. The principal tourist attractions are the historic Citadel in Victoria and the ancient temples at Ggantija. The Festa week in Sannat is the third week in July, while that at Munxar (nearer) is the last week in May.

Property can be rented for a minimum of 3 nights at rates starting from €79/night. There are no hidden charges and the price is all inclusive (ie. linen, water, electricity/gas). Notes on accommodation: Dar il-Palma is a privately owned farmhouse which is also used by its owners as their holiday home. It has been very well designed and recently built using Maltese limestone and other local features. It has been approved by the Maltese Tourist Authority and is fitted with all required safety equipment including emergency lighting. Outside: The property is on the outskirts of the charming village of Sannat. The front patio area contains a private plunge type pool measuring 4x3m (depth 1.2 to 2m). It is equipped with pool light, sun beds etc and external pool shower. The rear patio contains barbecue, table and chairs. The large roof area has extensive rural views with sun beds and chairs. Utility Room: Washing machine. Folding bed stored for use anywhere in the house. WI-FI available. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels (except beach towels) and linen provided and changed weekly. Maid service is weekly. A welcome food/drink pack can be provided on arrival at a small extra charge. Other: Store room. Top floor bunk room is also equipped for use as an office with a desk and telephone.
