About Alice Pitman

Hello, I'd like to give you little background on why we bought a villa in Fuerteventura, ended up renting it and then bought another!

Nick & I have been in business together for 36 years & in 2002, while holidaying there with our children Alec (now 27) & Alice (now 23), we all fell in love with the Island. It's 'untouched' feel in some areas and the luxury in others, charmed us. The air feels clear and helped by the wind, we have never felt overwhelmed by the heat.....An ideal place for us to holiday with growing kids.

We bought Villa La Paz & spent weeks enjoying our second home. We saw the opportunity to rent & found that our guests felt the same.

We bought the larger villa,Casa Piedra in 2008 & have loved sharing both villas with our guests ever since.

"Long may it continue"!! 2015

Alice Pitman purchased this villa in 2002

Why Alice Pitman chose La Colina

We love this villa because it feels like 'home'. We have it set up to be enjoyed, not as a 'show home'. Relaxation is the key to all holidays and so we attempted to set up the villa and gardens, so that all of our family could enjoy themselves. The children have areas to play both in the sun or in the shaded Cabana. Nowhere is completely safe for 'little explorers' but our boundary security makes sunbathing or reading a book at least a possibility, even with youngsters playing around you. The roof terrace is reached through a lockable door from the kitchen. The giant chess and pool table were things that we had enjoyed as a family, during a hotel holiday and so we've had enormous fun playing with them in our 'home in the sun'.

Being so close to the seafront, we found daily enjoyment either on the soft sand beaches of The Atlantico area or wind surfing & sub Aqua diving in the Caleta De Fuste Bay. Both areas are walkable. Although the Caleta Bay has pebbles entering the sea, it is such an enormous beach that beach cricket or similar fun games are enjoyed by families and groups of friends. It reminds me of childhood holidays on the beaches of North Wales, only without the constant threat of rain!

As our children grew, we felt happy allowing them to walk to the foreshore and enjoy the bowling or to meet friends. As late teens, early twenties they found late opening bars, which were enjoyed by whole families earlier and became the local 'nightlife' into the wee hours. So there was a nightlife without being obvious and thankfully no clubs with misbehaving crowds! Several of the restaurants have live 'low key' entertainment and so we have found the variety of amenities in the area suits every mood and occasion. We could 'fine dine' through to taking snacks on the beach, all within a five minute Taxi ride of each other. Our villa is in a versatile area and it's completely up to us which amenities we take advantage of. Sometimes several, sometimes hardly any!

Car: not necessary

The nearest beaches are at the entrance to the Golf Course, at the Atlantico Centre. 3 man made lagoon beaches, with fine golden sand and safe swimming, with a stylish restaurant and bar between the beaches, reached via a bridge/walkway. 20 max stroll from the villa. The large bay and beach of Caleta De Fuste can be reached in 6 mins by car. Offering safe swimming, water sports, diving, snorkeling, jet ski etc as well as the marina facilities, touch pool, sea lion display and boat trips.

Fuerteventura Airport is only 15 mins transfer. Ferries to Lanzarote are an hour away in Correlejo. Car hire is not essential as the taxi service is efficient and very reasonably priced. Immediate facilities are within walking distance. However, I recommend hiring a car as there are so many 'out of the way' places to visit and the villa is well placed for trips both to the South and North of the Island.

Further Details:

The Atlantico Centre is the nearest area for shopping and entertainment, with several good clothes/electrical shops and a large 'Spar' supermarket which has everything you would need. There are restaurants and bars overlooking the promenade and sea, with pizza, a sandwich and burger bar for snacks. There is a small games/entertainment area for the children and a ¾ length bowling alley (with a bar) for the whole family. There is a multiplex cinema too but as yet all films are shown in Spanish only. The Sol bank is open daily and there is also a cash machine. There are 2 internet terminals in the entertainment area. A walk or taxi ride into Caleta town adds even more variety of restaurants and bars, some with live entertainment. There is an African Market on Saturday & Tuesday mornings and is always full of vibrant characters and a true chance to show off your bartering skills. If you choose not to hire a car, then excursions can be organised from town and there are several on offer, including trips to the endless beaches in the South, the dunes in the North, La Lajita Zoo and Botanical Garden, camel rides, water park, catamaran and boat trips.

Smokers are requested not to smoke inside the villa but to take full advantage of the extensive patio areas & sun roof. Comfortable 'Cabana' for relaxing or shade for young children. Small table and chairs (with room for 2 of the sunbeds) on the sun roof terrace. A wonderful lounging area in the shade in the Cabana, away from the activity in the pool, perfect for reading. Also very useful area as it is a contained area for young ones to play while you relax. Utility Room: Washing machine. Portable airer. Ideal storage area for diving/snorkeling equipment. Excellent , tranquil and beautiful villa

  • 5 of 5

Corrine the owner and Jan the property manager saved our holiday with this gorgeous villa . We were staying somewhere else (package deal) that was awful . Thankfully for us there had been a cancellation and we were able to move here. The villa was spotless even under the sink! It had everything we needed and more. It is beautifully decorated and had comfy beds and sofas. The garden is stunning and even has a games garden which the children loved , along with the lovely warm pool. This was a wonderful relaxing place to stay. The only negative is that it's not available for the dates we want in the summer!! Thank you so so much for saving our winter holiday

This was our 5th time at Villa La Paz and its like home from home, the location is ideal, the villa is wonderful and the team who look after the villa are excellent, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The owner of the property is wonderful and provides an excellent customer service at all times she is a lovely lady who has become a friend. We have had the best time again and needless to say am busy pricing flights for next year.

Absolutely Beautiful

We have just returned from an absolutely amazing holiday at Villa La Paz. Its such a perfect base to stay especially with a young family. Corinne the owner is such a lovely lady, from the moment we booked until the day we departed was so very helpful and so were her management team.

On our arrival we had been left a welcome pack full of goodies to get us started. The villa was beautifully clean and so light and airy. The kitchen has everything that you need and more! The master bed was so comfortable and the new shower was fantastic. The pool was out of this world and the gardens are just beautiful.

Thank you so very much Corinne for letting us stay in your beautiful villa and for making our much needed holiday one that we will never forget. We would recommend Villa La Paz to anyone!

We stayed in villa La Paz for one week in July, I have just got to write a review. It was fantastic, home from, everything you could possibly need for a great holiday, very well equipped, fabulous pool, great outside space. Debbie was great to deal with and Corinne told us everything we needed to know about the area as we had never been before. We would definitely return.
