About David Saisi
Ciao, I'm David and from 2005 I manage Le Capanne holiday house. Before I worked as an HR manager in a TLC company. From 2005 to now I have seen about 1000 persons in my property and each one has helped me increasing my love for Garfagnana area. From 2013 I'm a mountains guide and I manage the Battiferro park in Fornovolasco: we offer canyoning for families and a lot of fun. See you soon David

Why David Saisi chose Fabbriche di Vergemoli
The first time I saw The huts in 2005 fell in love with this place with spectacular views of the surrounding villages and mountains. Since then every time I come here I'm happy with my choice

Entspannte Ferien in Traumkulisse
A little paradise in the wild Tuscany
End of May we spent one week in Le Capanne 1. We were 3 adults and one little child, 2 years old and we had space enough in that flat. There's one living room with open kitchen, one sleeping room (with bathroom) which could be closed and one stair higher there's another double bed with bathroom. The flat was very clean and gives space enough for all of us. The kitchen is fully equipped but don't forget to bring the essentials like sugar, salt, pepper, coffee etc. with you. In front of the entrance there is a big wooden table, fantastic for breakfast or dinner outside.
In the mountain the Wifi is not the best but the connection is good enough.
Le Capanne is about 10 km far away from Gallicano where you can find a big shopping centre. The street from there to Le Capanne is narrow and winding and you need at least 20-25 min. by car one way. The area around the houses (there are also Le Capanne 2, 3 and 4 built together) with the big pool is very neat and tidy.
For adults it's very pleasant, a really location to find calm and recreation, little children could need some toys like a swing set or the possibility playing in a sand box. But we knew in advance that is was not in that place.
When we arrived we were picked up at the shopping centre in Gallicano by Daniele Saisi, the owner of that holiday house, and he guided us to the location. He was very friendly and helped us giving tips for restaurants in the environment. We followed these recommendations and were absolutely not disappointed. Especially two restaurants are mentioned here, Il Totto in Sassi and L'Altana in Barga.
There's no problem to make excursions from the house. The bigger cities, Lucca and Pisa, are reachable within one hour by car and especially the Old Town of Lucca is worth to be visited.
All in all we enjoyed the stay in Le Capanne very much and could recommend this location at any time. It's sure we will come back.
Special interest holidays:
Every Wednesday on request you can enjoy our trip on Alpi Apuane at euro 50 per person lunch included. Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on request you can enjoy "Degustibus": by bus we go to a Restaurant testing Garfagnana tipycal food. The price is euro 40 per person (bus+dinner), baby menu are availables at euro 15 (bus+dinner).
From 2013 I manage a canyonig park for families called Parco del Battiferro in Fornovolasco: if you like nature Garfagnana is a paradise and we suggest you the best you can do!
The Viareggio and Versilia coast is about 75 minutes away by car but can also be reached by bus or train. The Cinque Terre is also within easy reach by car or by train (about 2,5 hours).
Nearest airport is Pisa approx 1 hour drive away. This gives you the choice of flying from locations throughout the UK and also allows you to take advantage of the many low cost airlines that now fly to the region.
Although there is train service to Barga-Gallicano (about 10 km from the property) we would suggest that a car is essential.
Once you arrive, with so much space and such peaceful surroundings it is hard to tear yourself away but the close proximity to many of Italy's major attractions including Lucca and Pisa make this an ideal base from which to explore.
Barga, a mediaeval walled town with summer music festival and beautiful 11th century cathedral, 20 km. Lucca, 'city of art', has cultural events, antique markets and many fine shops, 50 km. Pisa, with its leaning tower, 'Campo Santo' and riverside palaces, 45km.
Restaurants: Fobbia restaurant and pizzeria is at 4km. Eliseo excellent restaurant is at 10km. Il Totto restaurant for homemade food is at 4km. Il Rondone restaurant is at the Grotta del Vento. Gallicano with all facilities is at 10km.
