Villa in Alcalali, Jalon Valley, Costa Blanca - Private Pool Walking Distance to Village and Restaurants
- english, spanish
Hello, my name is Rachel and I own Casa Mariposa. Although British, I amnow based in Singapore. Over the years, I've stayed in many different holiday homes in many different countries and for my property, I wanted to provide something that really worked - both for us and our visitors. We believed we've created a home from home and have had many compliments on it. If you choose to stay there, I hope you will very much enjoy your stay - I always enjoy visiting the villa myself.
Rachel purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Rachel chose Alcalalí
I bought Casa Mariposa early in 2005. Despite visiting other areas of Spain I always found myself drawn back to the valley and after a whole year of searching, I finally found what I was looking for. I love the location - quiet and private yet not isolated and, of course, the wonderful views across the valley. I can't imagine how many hours I've spent on the naya just watching the light change as the sun moves round! I love the late afternoon and evening when the low light creates the most magical glow on the many white painted farmhouses and the villages below us. Furnishing the house from a range of local shops, was a real pleasure. I wanted to provide comfort and simplicity but with a homely feel too. and believe that has been achieved.
What makes this Villa unique
The valley has everything I wanted to make a great family holiday. There's plenty in the region to keep us all entertained. Then afterwards, nothing beats returning to the peace and tranquility of the the villa and dinner on the naya or maybe a local restaurant. Then, of course, there are the hours we've spent lazing in the pool on a hot summer afternoon. Having children of our own, we have installed gates around the pool terrace to give parents of young children peace of mind so youngsters can play away from the pool. I've equipped it with everything you should need and am often complimented on this. In Casa Mariposa, I really feel I've found somewhere special - it's always hard to leave and we have many returning guests who have fallen in love with it too.

Fabulous view, snug in wintertime!
Lovely villa with the most stunning view. It's high enough up to have a great one, but not too steep to walk back from the village after a glass or two of wine! We stayed in March, but there was enough sun to have lunches on the Naya overlooking the breathtaking view of the Jalon Valley.
Chilly evenings were much enhanced by the log fire. Highly recommended!
The booking and check-in process were flawless and Rachel was super helpful when we had to modify our booking dates.
The Villa has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely pool - though it was too chilly in March for a dip!
Thanks Annie and it was a pleasure to have you and I'm so glad we were able to change the dates to make it work for you.
It's all being painted soon too, so will be all lovely and sparkly for the summer.
You are right though, gorgeous as the pool is, you wouldn't get me in it in March! Good luck with your purchase.
Nice place, good location but could use some TLC
Nice stay, location lovey and peaceful but the place could use a little maintenance (flaking paint, broken tiles etc.) but nothing too major. Overall pleasant stay.
Relaxing week in Jalon valley
Communication with owner was prompt and efficient. Property had everything you needed. Great views across the valley. Relaxing stay.
Best Villa yet in Alcalali
Villa Mariposa was perfect for our family of five. Everything we needed was there including one of the best views possible in the Jalon Valley. Sitting in the Naya with my morning coffee before the kids woke up, looking across to the Col de Rates was the perfect start to every day. Beautiful, well looked after property in a great little village with restaurants and bars to choose from. Hopefully we'll be returning next year...
Thanks for the lovely review Mark and I couldn't agree more about the naya, it really is the perfect place for that morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
You are most welcome to visit again.
Lovely villa and location
We would highly recommend this villa. Pool is plenty big enough for at least 6, nice rooms, although slightly odd layout, and the view are fabulous. It has a lovely outside area to eat and drink, which is also nicely sheltered. Brisk 15 minute walk to a typically Spanish town, which has 3 or 4 nice places to eat. Rachel and Angie were very accommodating.
