About Alex & Alison Wright
We've been married 25 years (how time flies when you're having fun). We moved to the area in 2003, after redundancy, in search of an "adventure" and to escape the City rat race. We've never looked back. We live here permanently, absolutely love the life and the area. So much so, that all our family now live in France within 30 minutes of us. None of us would even contemplate going back to the UK, it's great to visit, but for us, this is home. We went from being bankers to builders, creating the gites, to running our own business and love every day. We also love our free time during the winter, to go on holiday, whether it's cruising or diving or both. Or the odd building project for the family. Life is never dull and now we're doing it all over again. WE (Alex and Alison) LIVE DISCREETLY ON SITE WITH NELLY OUR GENTLE DUTCH SHEPHERD DOG. She is head of guest relations & gets more comments than we do. We’ve had many guests return because the children want to see Nelly. Sorry because of Nelly, we don’t accept pets.
Alex & Alison Wright purchased this Barn in 2003
Why Alex & Alison Wright chose Périgueux
The property is set in stunningly beautiful rolling countryside. It's incredibly peaceful, yet just minutes away from all the most popular tourist attractions. It's also within easy reach of the major towns - the regional capital Perigueux, Sarlat and Bergerac, very handy for the airport. Cendrieux is a working village, with lots happening throughout the year. We even have night markets in summer. We wanted a challenge to renovate a property and that's what we got. It was a steep learning curve, but great fun and now we really enjoy seeing the pleasure on every one's face as they walk through the gate. An estate agent rang last week to see if we're interested in selling - I said "nobody could offer us enough money, we feel like we've won the lottery".
What makes this Barn unique
Peace, tranquility, yet amazing facilities. We don't know anyone else who offers the same range for the same price; Fully equipped kitchens (we challenge you to find anything we have forgotten), air-conditioning, heated and covered pool, hot tub/jacuzzi, plenty of bathrooms and very comfortable beds! New visitors often comment how the Gites look and feel new, even after 12 full seasons. We provide a very personal service, if you want it. Recommending restaurants (and booking them), places to visit - how to make the most of your stay. This year 50% + of our guests are repeat visitors, some of whom booked 12 months ahead, sometimes before they'd even left. That says a massive amount about the holiday we offer. We promise you won't be disappointed.

Séjour agréable en Périgord
Gîte confortable et conforme au descriptif. Accueil agréable de la part des propriétaires. Idéalement placé car proche de nombreux sites touristiques. La piscine et le jacuzzi sont un vrai plus (même fin octobre).
A very comfortable gite with all facilities.
This is a lovely place to stay and relax in wonderful surroundings. Lovely large garden with superb pool and hot tub, and views over country side. You are in the country, but not too far away to explore all the region has to offer. We would recommend and owners Alison and Alex are discreet, but always there if you need them.
Le Monjat, a pearl in Cendrieux France
My wife and I have just returned from two weeks in this exceptional two bedroomed Gite 'Le Monjat'. The Gite and it's facilities are second to none, it is beautifully maintained by the owners and exceptional host's Alex & Alison Wright.
Alex & Alison, are a gregarious welcoming couple who own this and other great properties in the commune of Cendrieux.
If you are looking to stay in accommodation located within beautiful countryside surroundings, then we would whole heartedly recommend 'Le Monjat' without exception.
We had an absolutely brilliant two weeks and feel so rested, it feels like we stayed for longer!
The gite was perfect and there was nothing missing - we had everything we needed. The pool area is so clean and again has everything you could want.
Alex and Alison and of course dear Nelly are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble.
We can't wait to return next year and booked before we left!
We would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for peace and quiet and plenty of relaxation in a beautiful part of France.
Thank you for everything!!!
A pleasant gite in lovely surroundings
We had a really enjoyable stay here. The gite had everything you need and was clean and modern. The garden was lovely, very well maintained and a bench and little swing chair is provided for you to enjoy the gorgeous sunset which you can see every night. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the neighbouring town because Cendrieux is in a quiet area but there are loads of attractions nearby.
Perfect holiday Gite
Extremely well equipped and clean Gite. A very comfortable base to explore the area. Beautiful garden with views. Pool and hottub were really good. Alison and Alex were excellent hosts. Shop and restaurant near by. Bikes were available for us to use. Would recommend to anyone.
