It is only 10 minutes from the Rome-Naples A1 motorway, 45 minutes drive from the Rome circular (GRA) and 90 minutes from Naples. About Kristina Dockray

I started letting this property over a decade ago on behalf of my mother, although we stopped for the last few years due to personal circumstances. My brother and I inherited the house recently. I also used to let a property in Cyprus, although we have now sold that. I have an international career and am currently working in Geneva.

Kristina Dockray purchased this house in 1957

Why Kristina Dockray chose Piglio

My grandfather bought this house in 1957. Though Swedish, he worked most of his life fr the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome. He, my grandmother and mother played golf regularly at the Fiuggi Golf Club, hence the choice of location for his weekend house. It is a beautiful and unspoilt area, with relatively few foreign tourists, yet it is easy to get to Rome and centrally placed to visit many interesting places.

What makes this house unique

If you want to chat to real, local Italians, the neighbours/managers - Ivana and Luigi - are always keen to get to know our guests. But they will also leave you alone, if that's what you prefer. If you want to get to know them, just invite them round for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine or.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had the most delightful stay imaginable in your cottage in Piglio. We wallowed in the books, the pictures, the views, the countryside and just the sense of history and family in the house and believe you should not change anything

- it was a privilege for us to be there. Your wonderful neighbours - Luigi and Ivana could not have been more helpful and better company - we were really well looked after by them (and by the way, by many of the locals too who seemed to take us in as kindrid souls). We would all love to come and stay again soon!

We have just arrived home in Melbourne from a delightful week in Moretto. We all enjoyed our stay immensely. Our time was blissful, with beautiful weather and happy times.

The house was absolutely gorgeous, and all I could say is, "don't change it too much!"
