About Lindsey & Mark
We have been married for 30 years and are in our mid 50's. We have two sons who have more or less flown the nest but still love to come to Italy with us. We adore good food, wine and sunshine so this really is our nirvana. A lot of our time in Italy is spent walking and I enjoy mountain and road biking. I am an ex rugby player so I still like to keep fit and have encouraged my wife to do the same. We live in a 400 year old cottage in a small village in Somerset and love the simple lifestyle here. We make our own cider and grow our vegetables, the good life!! However you will see from our large collection of cd's we still have a taste for rock music and go to lots of concerts. Diversity makes life interesting!!
Lindsey & Mark purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Lindsey & Mark chose Piegaro
My wife, Lindsey, lived in Rome when she was younger and always had a yearning to return to Italy. This glorious area chose us! A serious of events led us here and has been our sanctuary. We go to Rome on every visit as it is the most beautiful city in the world, but it is a relief to return to the countryside, the cooler air, the simple way of living and the marvellous friendly people. We immerse ourselves in the incredible history and culture and love the local festa's. This area is unspoilt and we can live the Italian life, as chef, Antonio Carluccio said, 'Umbria is Italy's secret and long may it last'.
What makes this Apartment unique
Umbria is the ‘Green Heart’ of Italy and, as so, Casa Bella Vista is ideally situated for travelling around. We can reach Rome and Florence in less than 2 hours with Sienna and San Gimignano even closer. The beautiful Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest inland lake in Italy, where Hannibal fought the Roman Army, is just 30 minutes away as is the elegant city of Perugia. Assisi, the birthplace of St Francis is on most travellers lists of places to visit and is around a 40 minute drive. Less than a couple of hours from the apartment you will find the Sibillini Mountains with the most stunning scenery and famous hilltop town of Castelluccio di Norcia. This area offers exquisite walks, white water rafting, and skiing in the winter. It is also home to the World’s tallest man made waterfall. The apartment is in an ideal location for wine lovers, we have an excellent vineyard with great tours and tasting nearby. Less than an hour away is the beautiful town and region of Montefalco. their famous Sagrantino wine has received DOCG classification. Our House Keepers, Narelle and Troy, run a successful tour business incorporating many of the local vineyards and those further afield. senseumbria@ please contact us for more details or find their number with our House Keeper information.
