Fantastic property in a great location - one of the very best we’ve stayed in.
This property is a true gem. It’s superbly equipped and every bit as good as it looks in the photos. We found Goran to be extremely responsive and helpful both in the run-up to and during our holiday. Dusko and Vesna (property managers) are quite simply two of the nicest people you could meet and very happy to provide helpful advice about the local area (and further afield) should you need it. We visited Lipica (Slovenia) and spent two days in Venice whilst staying at Villa Barbara. Closer to home we spent time in Rovinj, Vrsar and Motovun. We also had a couple of visits to Istralandia (one of two water parks within 30 mins of the villa). The small local store in Sv. Lovrec is more than adequate for the majority of your needs and there are a cluster of large supermarkets 30 mins away in Porec. There’s a great pizzeria in Sv. Lovrec and a couple of really good Konoba’s within 5 mins drive of the villa. Surprisingly for a fairly rural area you do need to book to ensure you get a table. We loved the food in Croatia, the pork and beef was some of the best we’ve tasted and the fish was also very good. Portions are hearty and meals are very good value for money. We had lovely weather allowing us to enjoy all the villa had to offer including the fabulous pool and the outside kitchen which had a great bbq area and a separate pizza oven - which we used to make our very own pizzas - they were pretty good as well! Overall a really excellent holiday which we all thoroughly enjoyed (my children are 17 and 13). There’s a lot more for us to do in this location that we simply didn’t have time for and we will definitely return. Many thanks to Goran, Dusko and Vesna for all their help and support (and for my birthday present - which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated). The Creighton family, York, UK.
Thank you, Steven, for review. We are very happy that you had such a positive experience with our home and holiday in Istria. I am looking forward to hearing from you in the future.
Many thanks for your stay.
Best wishes to you and your family
Lovely setting - great villa, and pool.
The villa was very welcoming, clean and well equipped as so were the grounds with games, pool inflatables and table tennis. The pool was a good size with plenty of natural shade. The property manager, Dusko and his wife are a lovely couple and kept the pool very clean and the grounds tidy but didn't intrude on your stay. Goran responds quickly to all email correspondence and is very helpful. Croatia is a pretty country and lots to see such as towns like Ravinj and Porec are not too far away (30 mins). We also had a day trip to Venice. There are plenty of restaurants to visit approx 15 -20 mins drive such as Viking at Limski Kanal and roadside rotisseries serving suckling pig and lamb. Plenty of seafood available and all restaurants are very reasonably priced. Istria coast is pretty with friendly people.
thank you for your stay and on time in writing review. We are pleased to had you and your family as our guests.
Hoping to hear from you again
With best wishes
Relax in this Great Villa with inviting pool
Exceptionally clean, well equipped villa in a private rural location, with a great heated pool, shady seating areas for alfresco dining, barbeque, table tennis. Restaurants available within 10mins drive plus only 25mins from Porec, Vrsar, & Rovinj on the coast.
Goran, the owner, kept us informed of where to eat & drink locally as he clearly knows the area, and any other questions we had all the time from our booking up to our arrival and after we came home. We would highly recommend this for a peaceful break in the sun.
Dear Dixon, thank you for your stay, we are glad for your positive experience from holiday in Istria. Best wishes to all.
Wonderful property in serene yet central setting
We jstayed in this wonderful villa for 6 days and absolutely loved our time there.
First of all, Goran is great. He responds to all questions within a few hours and made us feel so comfortable from the very first day we inquired about the villa.
He was even available during our stay to give us tips about where to go and things to do.
One of the favorite aspects of the villa are its beautiful grounds and of course the wonderful pool, which used every day. Everything was simply impeccable and the rooms are all tastefully furnished and decorated, it really felt like a home.
We loved the open floor plan of the kitchen, dining room and living space.
The house is in the perfect location to enjoy it's serene setting yet only about 20 - 25 minutes away by car is Porec and Rovinj. The beautiful town of Motovun is only about 30 minutes away.
There are so many more places to discover from here.
I highly recommend staying here and we are definitely planning to be back.
Thank you so much Goran for all your help and for making it possible to have such an unforgettable time in Istria.

Thank you for your stay, we are looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards to all
Villa Barbara is amongst the most delightful, beautifully positioned and well equipped villas that we have had the privilege to stay in. Goran, his family and staff are sensational hosts, the villa is immaculately presented and the handbook offers everything one needs to know about how the place works and so much local info that it would be impossible to exeprience it all in one trip. We visited the stunning coastal towns of Porec and Rijev which are only 20-30 mins away. We enjoyed relaxing around the refreshing pool, listening to the bird song and we had 4 excellent BBQs using the superb, stone built BBQ and outdoor kitchen area. We couldn't recommend the villa highly enough. We will be visiting again next year!
