Beautifully restored traditional cortijo, stone built with wooden beams and cane roofs. Set in a lovely south facing garden, amongst olive and orange orchards with patio swimming pool and bbq. Free internet connection.

Tranquil and quiet location with stunning views, 5 mins from the market town of Orgiva, 5 mins from the Guadalfeo River valley. Fully furnished, uniquely designed and decorated. Well equipped, mains electricity, water. 2 bedrooms 1 double and 1 twin. Kitchen/sitting room. Lounge/TV room. Bathroom and utility room.

About Tanya

I live in Portugal with my partner, 2 horses, dog & cats. I am half Spanish & lived in Spain for more than 20 years.

Although we love Orgiva & our cortijo there is very special. We decided to make a change - so we bought a derelict farm, which we are renovating. Lots of hard work, lots of challenges, new landscape,new language - we´re lovin´it!

Tanya purchased this farmhouse in 1980

Why Tanya chose Sierra Nevada

We found " Las Alpujarras" almost by accident, while travelling through Spain. We feel in love with amazing mountain views instantly.

We decided to buy the property in 1987. There wasn´t much of the original building still standing, in fact it had been derelict for more than 20 years, leaving only an idea of how it must have been before. The building is over 100 years old.

My partner & I spent the previous years renovating the building. We have tried to keep as many of the original features as possible. Stone walls, wooden beamed & cane ceilings. We have built it in a traditional style using local materials for construction & decoration. We have designed the interior to be modern & comfortable with an unusual & unique decor. It has been described as a "fairytale house."

What makes this farmhouse unique

The cortijo is situated in a scenic area, situated amongst olive & orange groves with mountain views all around. The lively town of Orgiva is only 5 minutes by car or an easy 15 minutes walk.

The property is very unusual as it is such a traditional old building. Full of character and absolutely unique in its decor. Comfortable & fully equipped, even music system with speakers in most rooms & outside - great for relaxing.

Outside: Lovely peaceful & private garden with lots of plants. Large outside willow branch covered shade terrace, furnished with table and chairs and bbq. Private swimming pool (5m x 3m) with filter system from Mid April to October, sun terrace and sun loungers. Utility Room: Utility room with washing machine, clothes basket. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided. But not beach towels. Maid service can be arranged. Airport taxi can be arranged

Tanya's Cortijo.

A great place with all the necessary amenities. A lovely little pool to cool off in, internet/WIFI access, movies, music, books etc. About a 15 minute walk to the town of Orgiva, which has small, but good supermarkets. I would recommend this place to anyone. There is also a health center and a couple of pharmacies in town if required. Just a very enjoyable stay all around and we'd definitely stay again. Tanya's directions to find the place were great.

Charming cortijo in southern Spain

We had a lovely 4 day break in Tanya's Cortijo in October 2016. Everything you need is there, including a small pool and attractive large patio and outside space. You will need a car to get around of course. There is a lot of attention to detail in the design of the house and its furnishings which is quite charming. The only thing we lacked was a way of plugging an iPhone into the stereo system (that also includes outside speakers); perhaps this is something that could be rectified in the future? Lovely views across to the hills from the back garden and no immediate neighbours added to the sense of relaxation. Thanks Tanya!

Fantastic cottage, a walk from Orgiva

Very nice cottage with bags of charm and character. Has everything you need. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and the sound system with speakers in all rooms including the outside! The cottage is in a very quiet lane about 1.5km south of the town. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into town which has many bars, restaurants and a few medium sized supermarkets. Even better, the fantastic Flor Limonero restaurant is a ten minute walk away from the cottage.

We used the place as a base for mountain biking in the Alpujarras, which was just fantastic.

Highly recommended.

Just simply lovely

My husband & I stayed at Cortijo Tanya for 10 days.

What a lovely holiday we had, so relaxing, so comfortable, we couldnt have asked for more.

The cortijo is lovely, very inviting with its traditional design.

Very well equipped & comfortable.

The situation is just perfect, amazing views, private & peaceful.

Only a short walk to Orgiva town, great little town full of shops , bars & restaurants.

We will be back that is for sure !

Picture Perfect

Cortijo Tanya is a wonderfully artistic Cortijo.

The decor has been thoughtfully done it has a very comfortable feel.

Clean and very well equipped with everything you will need.

Sitting by the pool taking in the stunning views and the days disappear.

We arrived just as the main bird migration was in place and spent a few days just taking in this magical event.

Orgiva is a lively town and has enough restaurants and bar to keep you happy even if you don't want explore the stunning surrounding area.

A visit to the Alhambra is a must, book before your travel is my tip.

A great holiday, very relaxing and wish we were still there.
