Beautifully restored traditional cortijo, stone built with wooden beams and cane roofs. Set in a lovely south facing garden, amongst olive and orange orchards with patio swimming pool and bbq. Free internet connection.

Tranquil and quiet location with stunning views, 5 mins from the market town of Orgiva, 5 mins from the Guadalfeo River valley. Fully furnished, uniquely designed and decorated. Well equipped, mains electricity, water. 2 bedrooms 1 double and 1 twin. Kitchen/sitting room. Lounge/TV room. Bathroom and utility room.

About Tanya

I live in Portugal with my partner, 2 horses, dog & cats. I am half Spanish

We lived in Spain on & off for various years

Although we love Orgiva & our cortijo there is very special. We decided to make a change - so we bought a derelict farm, which we are renovating. Lots of hard work, lots of challenges, new landscape,new language - we´re lovin´it!

Tanya purchased this farmhouse in 1980

Why Tanya chose Sierra Nevada

We found " Las Alpujarras" almost by accident, while travelling through Spain. We feel in love with amazing mountain views instantly.

We decided to buy the property in 1987. There wasn´t much of the original building still standing, in fact it had been derelict for more than 20 years, leaving only an idea of how it must have been before. The building is over 100 years old.

My partner & I spent the previous years renovating the building. We have tried to keep as many of the original features as possible. Stone walls, wooden beamed & cane ceilings. We have built it in a traditional style using local materials for construction & decoration. We have designed the interior to be modern & comfortable with an unusual & unique decor. It has been described as a "fairytale house."

What makes this farmhouse unique

The cortijo is situated in a scenic area, situated amongst olive & orange groves with mountain views all around. The lively town of Orgiva is only 5 minutes by car or an easy 15 minutes walk.

The property is very unusual as it is such a traditional old building. Full of character and absolutely unique in its decor. Comfortable & fully equipped, even music system with speakers in most rooms & outside - great for relaxing.

Outside: Lovely peaceful & private garden with lots of plants. Large outside willow branch covered shade terrace, furnished with table and chairs and bbq. Private swimming pool (5m x 3m) with filter system from Mid April to October, sun terrace and sun loungers. Utility Room: Utility room with washing machine, clothes basket. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided. But not beach towels. Maid service can be arranged. Airport taxi can be arranged

Quaint, quirky and quiet - total relaxation and recharge!

We had a fantastic stay here - the area is beautiful, very rustic and rural farmhouse overlooking superb mountains. The farmhouse had everything we needed, especially the pool to cool off in the afternoons. The town of Orgiva is an uphill walk away but worth the walk for the many bars and very good restaurants. Went to a Flamenco show in town which was lovely and of course very Spanish! Visited the mountain villlages of Capileira, Pampaneira, Trevelez and Torvizcon, all very traditional and not too touristy. We visited the other side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range where the ski village is, going on the toboggan run, the cable cars and chairlifts, and its much cooler up there if you fancy doing a bit of walking, especially in August. My son loved the road up to the ski village as they were testing cars, and he saw a Bugatti Chiron amongst other cars. We loved the area so much and would love to return when its a bit cooler to do some of the numerous walks in the area. Thankyou Tanya - I am sure we will return, and would highly recommend!

Absolutely fabulous cortijo, beautiful location.

We've stayed at various places in Orgiva over the last 14 years, but this place is my favourite so far. Lots of original and quirky features and stunning views from the house windows and garden. An attractive walk into the town, slightly uphill on the way in so a bonus downhill on the way home! The local goat herder passed by each day with the goat bells alerting us to his presence, great rural setting. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful location, and a comfortable well equipped house.

We found the house really easily, thanks to Tanya's extremely clear and detailed directions. It was cold in the house when we arrived, but we soon had the woodburner going (lots of wood available) and it was really cosy. The kitchen looked well equipped for those wishing to cook, which we didn't, as there are several good restaurants in Orgiva. Nice to find a litre of milk there as we had forgotten to buy any. Also tea and coffee were provided.

There were clear instructions for lighting the water heater and the wood burner. I think that in the summer this would be a lovely cool house to stay in.

I would recommend this place to anyone, though perhaps it would not be very suitable to be here without a car. We really enjoyed our four day stay here. Very peaceful and relaxing.
