Island Activities: There are numerous activities you can enjoy in Barbados! Go on snorkelling and enjoy unforgettable swimming with the turtles and snorkelling with views of brightly-coloured fish and tropical coral reefs. See Barbados from a different perspective with an off-road safari adventure in an open-back Jeep. It's an exhilarating ride through parts of the island you'll never see on a regular island tour.

You will love swimming with the gorgeous sea turtles and snorkelling while enjoying a fabulous Cool Runnings catamaran cruise. Lunch, drinks and transfers are included so all you'll need to pack is a towel, your camera and the sunscreen.

The Barbados Wildlife Reserve is located in the beautiful Scotland District in the north of the island, so even the journey to get there is fun. See the Barbados Green Monkey roaming through the mahogany trees, along with iguanas, turtles, deer and birds. You can visit the snake house & the aviary and hike to the historic Grenade Hall Signal Station.

more Activities: World-renowned Harrison's Cave is not to be missed. It has undergone recent renovation, with the addition of a world-class display centre and three glass-fronted elevators to take you 80 feet down from the cliff top to the cave entrance. You'll never see anything else like this natural wonder—a network of beautifully-lit natural limestone caves with cascading waterfalls and cool streams. Take a guided tram ride between majestic stalactites and stalagmites with photo stops along the way.

For the history buff there is the Barbados Museum, located in the historic Garrison area, showcases Barbadian history from Amerindian settlements to the present day. Just a short distance away is George Washington House, the only location where this former U.S. president stayed outside of North America.

Nature lovers can visit Animal Flower Cave, Flower Forest and Orchid World, with their breath-taking views and tropical blooms and foliage.

For the more adventurous, visit the Aerial Trek Zipline Experience!

Your own piece of paradise in Barbados!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd visit to this idyllic spot in Barbados. As we found last year, the accommodation is everything as described. If you are thinking about visiting Barbados, we guarantee you will not be disappointed with this accommodation. Added to this, the charming hosts, make you feel very welcome, as do the people of Barbados, wherever you go. You are minutes from all amenities, but at the same time in a peaceful location. We travelled all over on the local transport, which is excellent value and good fun! Fabulous beaches and crystal waters, what more could you want. As you can tell, this holiday rental comes highly recommended!

Fabulous little hideaway easy walk to beach, shops and restaurants.Excellent maid service.

This was our first time in Barbados and we certainly hope to return

The owner, Susan was first class in responding to queries very promptly and efficiently

The housekeeper Claire met us on arrival and came round every few days to do the laundry and sheets - a mine of helpful information

The photos depict the property well, but it is attached to another house which is generally rented.

There's no washing machine but Claire can do some for a small fee

We loved the fact that there was washing liquid, hand soap, even shampoo and bug spray all available - often you arrive somewhere and there's not even loo roll so you have to buy it all from scratch! The only very very minor suggestion I would make would be for a garlic crusher!

There are some great tips for restaurants in the guest book.

We really hope that we can come back someday and experience some more

Owner's Response: Dear Cath & Nick - We are very happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay at Newstead Cottage! As you mentioned, the property is very centrally located and steps to Accra Beach yet a quiet oasis once you are inside the gates to the cottage. Having a long term tenant in the main house works really well as it provides extra security for our guests at the cottage while being completely unobtrusive due to separate entrances and each having their own private gardens on the property. We believe firmly in answering enquiries promptly and with technology the way it is today, this is easy to do - we are always only a text/e-mail or telephone call away and happy to help! Our housekeeper Claire is definitely like having your own concierge and like you said she is a mine of local information as is our detailed guest book. We supply all of the little things such as toiletries, blow dryer, all linens and beach towels, kitchen basics, bug spray and even sun cream if you forgot to bring your own - that way all you have to think about is relaxing and enjoying your holiday to the fullest. We will definitely have a garlic crusher on your next trip and we look forward to your return visit to Newstead Cottage in Barbados! Susan

Newstead Cottage - Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in the quaint Newstead Cottage, it is located in a very private setting with a pretty garden. Our lovely housekeeper Claire was waiting for us on arrival and made sure our stay at the cottage very comfortable. The cottage is just a few minutes walk to the lovely beach and the boardwalk which we used every day for early morning exercise. We were in "mango" heaven as the huge tree in the garden was laden with beautiful fruit. The facilities for self catering were good but we chose to eat out several times, our favourite place to eat was "Shakers" which is just a few minutes walk just up the road from the cottage.

Booking the holiday was very easy and Susan was very helpful and prompt to reply to my emails.

Wonderful Cottage in great location.

  • 5 of 5

First rental of the year in Newstead Cottage and from the minute we arrived we knew we had made the right decision. The cottage is everything you would wish for and very well equipped. Thank you Susan for making the booking go so smoothly and to Claire for being there for any help and advice. The location is excellent for the beach, shopping, transport and restaurants etc. Would not hesitate to recommend Newstead, it was very peaceful and safe and hopefully we will be back some day in beautiful Barbados.

Great Little Cottage in Very Central Location

  • 5 of 5

Nice little cottage with everything one would need. Loved the location as it was so easy to get anywhere. Susan couldn't have been more accommodating when we ran into some family issues that complicated our stay. She bent over backwards to help us out. You can't help but love Claire who was so helpful arranging transportation for us. This is a great little gem in a wonderful bit of paradise.

Newstead Cottage - Perfection

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in Barbados, but this time we wanted to be on the southern part of the island in a convenient location. It was nothing short of that. Everything you need is in the area - beaches, restaurants, cafes, groceries, transportation, etc.

As soon as we got to Newstead Cottage, we knew right away that we made the right choice. And that didn't change one bit all week. It had all we needed and more, and there is not one bad thing to say about the cottage. Everything in good working order, very well equipped, clean, and no problems whatsoever. It is both conveniently located, while being in a quiet little spot that makes you feel so relaxed, private and safe.

We were extremely impressed and appreciative of how welcomed we felt from the get go by Susan & Paul. Prompt responses in a professional manner, no complications or unclear explanations. We were also welcomed by Claire upon arrival who went above and beyond to make the cottage more than we could've asked for. She is there for anything you may need in addition to servicing the place to perfection twice a week, whether it be help getting around the island, advice for food, shopping etc.

If I could ask for one thing about Newstead Cottage, it would be to change nothing!

We are very thankful to have chosen Newstead because it was a big reason why our trip was one we will never forget. This place will be #1 on our list the next time we choose to come back to Barbados.
