About Myrna Hauser
Myrna and Joe began as High School sweethearts back in 1959, got married while in college in 1963 and are still having fun together. Myrna had a career as a High School classroom teacher in the St. Louis area and Joe owned a specialized spray painting company in the St. Louis area. In 1993, knowing this house was on the market, Myrna decided that we should return to Taylorville, in "retirement" and open a bed and breakfast and watch over aging parents. We opened in 1994 and operated the inn by commute from the St. Louis area and had an assistant in place to serve weekday guests. Myrna retired from the classroom in 1997 and came here on a full time basis and Joe sold his business and came here on a full time basis in 1999.

Why Myrna Hauser chose Taylorville
We had toured this property during a Centennial Celebration Home Tour in 1987 and decided liked it. It came on the market in 1993 and we looked at as a possibility to convert to a bed and breakfast. Our decision was made in about 30 seconds and the negotiations took about 5 days. The property had the look and feel of what could become a B&B and all we needed to do was add bathrooms and do some other spiffing up. Success came and in 1998 we captured the attic and created 3 additional guestrooms. In 2003 we purchased the Carriage House which belonged to a home just to the south of the inn and converted it into our Grand Deluxe Hunt Club Suite, Helen's Suite which is an ADA approved accessible suite and a second floor apartment.
