Located at 6000+ foot level, our mountain home is located high in the Valley (snow country) in Pine Mountain Club - a close destination with a far-away feel. And because there are no stop lights or street lights, no sirens, no car alarms, no noise from neighbors or 'village' activities, no smog or traffic, you'll feel miles away from noise / city life at our mountain home. With a true four-season mountain climate, our home is the perfect year-round destination for a getaway! (Check link for more photos of our home; additional photos are always available upon request.)

Located on a beautiful & very QUIET street (off the beaten path of main / noisy / busy streets like Woodland Drive), one of the quietest areas on the Mountain, yet just a 2 minute drive to the Village / clubhouse / golf course, our home is two-story, has a lovely, open floor plan with knotty pine, high-vaulted ceilings in the great room, open-concept kitchen with custom granite island top, six-panel doors throughout, dual-pained windows (which keep it cool in the Summer and warm in cooler months), heat-wrapped pipes, and Levolor blinds, sleeps UP TO four (4) w/ two (2) private bedrooms and two (2) private bathrooms. Our home is primarily designed for one or two couples.

With a great southern exposure, our home is considered 'passive-solar'. Modern (built 1/2003), our home is beautifully decorated with mountain comforts (no 'hand-me-down' furniture here!), upscale amenities (we have an incredible 580+ movie collection & WiFi, we offer popcorn, hot chocolate & herbal teas, plus much, much more), our home is exceptionally clean & comfortable (1232+ square ft) with wonderful, unobstructed mountain views. Our upper deck, which we recently replaced, faces south and west and is great for outdoor dining / grilling and stargazing; the sunrise / sunsets / night-sky are spectacular from our deck and will put on quite a show! The lower deck is shaded and is a great place to set-up the hammock (provided)! We back to the Los Padres National Forest - wildlife (deer, raccoon, bobcat, mountain lion, coyote(s), bear, fox, bunnies, squirrels, quail, dove, hummingbirds, stellar & scrub jays) abounds. And when there's SNOW, the hillside behind our home (at 6000+ feet) is perfect for sledding! Mt. Pino's (8300'-8800') is just 15-20 minutes away and, as the locals know, is a GREAT cross-country skiing and snow-play destination! It's also a great hiking /biking / picnic area, too with incredible views!

We provide a BOSE Stereo System with remote (which offers EXCEPTIONAL sound) - so, bring your CD's! We have a new 40' HDTV flat screen cable TV in the great room and cable TV in each bedroom - we also have a Carbon Monoxide detector, as well as heat-wrapped pipes. There's a nice, new glass-top patio table w/four chairs on the deck for outdoor dining, along with a large relaxing hammock, two large market umbrella's and binoculars for your use and enjoyment. There's also a Weber grill & grill utensils; please bring charcoal & lighter fluid.

NOTE: Due to our 6000' elevation on the Mountain, SNOW may be present or occur during cooler months. (If rain is expected in So. CA, you will likely encounter snow in the Winter at our 6000+ elevation.) Please know that our roads are very well-maintained, but area CHP requires that you carry chains and / or have a 4x4 vehicle when snow is possible. Snow shovels are provided. Please check the Association' link below for current / historical weather information. PMC Security patrols our street 24 / 7, so you are assured of a quiet stay.

If a close, relaxing, year-round getaway is what you seek, and you appreciate a very quiet, very clean, sophisticated, well-maintained, upscale mountain home - a home that shows 'pride of ownership' - we truly welcome you. Attention has been paid to EVERY detail in our mountain home and, because this is our second home, we offer amenities that are not typical / average of most 'rentals' here on the Mountain. Check our guest comments and see why they return again and again.

Rental currently includes ALL taxes (6%) and up to four (4) guest passes to club facilities; 3 phones (with answering machine) are available for local calls; please bring a calling card for long distance calls. Note: Cell service is now available on the 'Mountain' for Verizon customers!

Unless cleaning service is elected, guests are asked to leave our home as they found it.. All cleaning supplies are provided. We supply Duraflame logs (no need to bring firewood), and ALL utilities/taxes are included in rental rates. Note: Luxury linens (800 ct sheets for the two queen beds, & extra plush/soft white cotton towels for up to 4) and/or cleaning service can be provided for an additional fee. Inquire by email for linen / cleaning rates -- otherwise, please bring sheets / towels and follow the cleaning / closing checklist at our home.

This is a non-smoking home and, due to the drought and the extreme fire danger in the area, smoking is NOT allowed on our property. We will consider up to two (2) well-behaved dogs - under 50 lbs - for a non-refundable fee. Please disclose at time of inquiry. (No cats, please.)

Please inquire (we love the blue button!) with your name and your desired dates and preferred payment, and we will email our Rental Agreement and Terms and Conditions document to you for your review and signature. We also offer mid-week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), weekly and return guest discounts whenever possible!

About The Owner

As a general contractor with an eye for design and a human resources director who enjoys cooking, interior decorating, photography, hiking and crocheting, we reside in Ventura. Our mountain home is very special to us and we escape to it often and find the location ideal (just an hour and a half away). Attention to detail is number one with us and we pride ourselves in offering a very clean, upscale, peaceful, quiet, Zen-like option for your mountain getaway. Home Escape at Pine Mountain Club!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Central Coast California

We truly love the Mountains and spent many childhood summers in areas such as Big Bear and Mammoth. After considering those areas along with other mountain areas, we remembered hearing about this quaint Alpine community. A quick Sunday drive took us to our home in Pine Mountain Club. It was the only home we saw and fell in love with it immediately! It's so close -- we absolutely love it! Built in December 2003, our home faces south (with west views, as well) and is considered 'passive-solar' - a hidden jewel with its' unobstructed mountain views -- the sunrises and sunsets from our deck are truly amazing; the night sky will put on quite a show! We have designed our home for one or two couples and offer upscale amenities, including Wi-Fi, Verizon cell phone service, cable/TV in each room, a Carbon Monoxide detector, along with lots of extras! Leave your cares at the door and enjoy the upscale comforts our mountain home provides. Home Escape at Pine Mountain Club!

What makes this cabin unique

Our home is located on a VERY quiet street (said to be one of the quietest neighborhoods on the Mountain) with quiet, respectful neighbors who appreciate the peacefulness of our area, and we love its location high on the Mountain. And, aside from tree growth, our views will never change. The quaint Village offers many dining options for you to enjoy, as well as shopping and has a 'long-ago' feel. Safe, friendly and peaceful! The golf course is beautiful year-round, and the community pool (seasonal) - refreshing! And, as avid hikers, we enjoy the many local trails. Back at our mountain home, we enjoy hand-feeding the jays (peanuts provided!), as well as viewing wildlife from our deck; the night sky is always welcoming, giving us time to relax, breathe and reflect. And our very favorite ... watching the sunsets. They truly are amazing!! You won't believe a place like this exists! This truly is the perfect couple's getaway or a quiet, peaceful, secluded retreat! And because this is our second home, we maintain every aspect of it, as well as our beautiful landscaped property. With quality décor and furnishings, it's not like a typical vacation rental - you're guaranteed a care-free, enjoyable stay! Escape to our mountain home... Home Escape at Pine Mountain Club!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lori & Tim - we had a wonderful time here at your cabin and wish we could have stayed longer! We had friends come up the first night for dinner. We got to visit with Dennis best friend (from high school) who has a cabin up here. They played golf & I enjoyed the quiet solitude. Pretty warm up here, but a true relief from 100 degree plus in Santa Clarita. We especially enjoyed the bear sighting across the street as well as the deer. We hope to be back up in the fall to take a few of the local hikes. Thank you for everything!!

Lovely and Immaculate Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely place to spend our weekend. We live in Bakersfield, where it is often 100+ degrees in the summer, so it was nice to drive a short hour and a half to be in cooler weather. This mountain home offers all of the amenities you would ever need. Our kids (7 and 8 years old) loved all of the wildlife in the area. The Blue Jays (or were they Scrub Jays or Stellar Jays? lol) were very cute and we all enjoyed feeding them peanuts (another wonderful amenity). We saw Quail, squirrels, and bunnies all around the home. This place is in exquisite condition and exceptionally clean. Our kids enjoyed watching some of the movies provided (Ghostbusters and The Jungle Book), and we had fun swimming at the PMC facilities (even another amenity offered!). This mountain home is located just a couple miles from the PMC facilities and the Village, where we enjoyed some great food in the local restaurants (Mexican food, pizza, and Italian). The deck is a great place for stargazing and enjoying fresh air. Thank you, Lori and Tim, for sharing your wonderful home We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review, Earl. We were delighted to share our home with you and your family. While we can’t speak for other properties, our location is very quiet with an abundance of wildlife - so pleased that your kids enjoyed seeing the bunnies, Quail, squirrels and blue jays, and were even able to enjoy a movie and the pool. We take pride in our home and offering all of the amenities one could hope for when on vacation. You are welcome guests - do come back!!

Another Awesome Stay

  • 5 of 5

After visiting here in May, we decided to come back in June for my Birthday weekend. This time we stayed for three nights and we had another fabulous time. We relaxed, grilled and chilled the whole time. It was really good to just unwind and recharge. My wife and I love feeding the Jays peanuts and grilling on the deck. We had a delightful fresh breeze of mountain air coming through the whole upstairs. We cant wait to come back and can't help but smile when remembering our stay at our new favorite getaway!

Simply the best!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from another wonderful stay. We missed the lilacs this year, but the sunsets did not disappoint. Love, love, love the new granite top on the island! The ice cream shop is a nice addition in the Village and we enjoyed their "wraps". Also, thank you for letting us know to expect the housekeeper, and why. We were rental owners ourselves for years and it’s always concerning when renters do odd things like use beds without sheets. They do not deserve to stay in your home! Your measures to get the bedding clean for us is just another reason why we return. Simply the best! PS. The jays are well-fed!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review! The granite island top is a definite plus – we love it, too!! And, yes, we are so happy the ice cream shop opened – their wraps and salads are delicious! Thanks also for your understanding regarding the bedding delay. We launder all of our bedding (mattress pads, blankets, etc.) ahead of each guest – the couple you followed elected sheets for the master bed, yet also slept in the guest bed, without sheets. Not sure why they did not notify us of their need for additional sheets. As you know, we take pride in offering our guests a clean and comfortable home for their vacation, including bedding. Thank you for being such wonderful return guests. Always welcome!

nice property, excellent location

  • 2 of 5

This is a very nice property in an excellent location. The owners are probably not malicious but their "unique" way of doing business left us feeling that we had been duped. For example, we paid an extra $20 for bedding only to discover that their "concierge" charged us 7 extra hours of labor to wash and make the beds. I've rented equivalent properties for many years and have been a landlord for over 20 years and never experienced such odd behavior. In the future we will stick with owners who are more up-front about their pricing.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, Mitch. This is certainly an unusual occurrence – our first of this nature, actually. Unlike most owners, we offer our guests the opportunity to elect cleaning or follow a simple closing checklist to ensure return of their cleaning deposit. In this instance, neither was done. And while linens were elected for one bed, both beds were utilized, one ‘without’ sheets. Bedding that may have come in contact with the body, such as mattress pad, blankets, comforter and pillow shams, as well as pillows and pillow covers, required re-laundering ahead of our next guests, so they would be assured of a clean bed to sleep on. All of our rates are clearly detailed on the rental documents that you signed, including linen rates, so we’re unsure how you missed them. In our 12-years of sharing our home, our 64 – 5 star reviews reflect the pride we take in providing a clean and comfortable, superior guest experience! We guarantee this to every guest! PS. Never feel embarrassed about asking for additional sheets, Mitch; like us, most owners understand that some couples do not sleep together and would quickly make additional sheets available, if requested.

My husband, our pooch, and I had a splendid stay in Pine Mountain Club at the Malloy family property. The weather was gorgeous and included exquisite cloud formations and a dusting of snow. Peanuts provided by the Lori and Tim were much appreciated by the voracios Stellar blue jays who immediately swooped in.

Lori and Tim, Thanks so much for sharing your mountain retreat with the three of us!

Beautiful Ventura
Car: recommended

Mt. Pino's is an excellent / un-crowed Cross-country / snow-play / sledding option when there's snow. We're approximately 20 minutes from there and 35 minutes from Pyramid Lake (a great boating / jet and water-skiing venue), 40 minutes from Castaic Lake, 45 minutes from Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia. 89 minutes from the beautiful Ventura coast. Pine Mountain Club offers many 'Mountain' events throughout the year, including: the 'Concerts on the Green' series held during the summer months (we love these!) as well as live theater productions under the stars. There's also a Lilac Festival in May, the 'favorite' Wine in the Pines event early June, the really cool Antique Car Show (Run to the Pines) in August and the new 'Blues, Brews and BBQ' event, which is held each Labor Day weekend. There's also a Chili Cook off in early October and the fun and safe Halloween alternative 'Trunk or Treat' hosted by Village merchants and locals, as well as many other seasonal events throughout the year. Check the Association link for all of the details! The beautiful, quaint Alpine Village offers many dining options for you to enjoy, a coffee / Internet shop, a pub, a great bakery with daily soup specials and the best 'bear claws', gift / clothing / antique shops, a gym (discounts offered for our renters), a general store /market, and a Laundromat. A new ice cream shop has opened -- enjoy a cone as you stroll the Village! The clubhouse offers a very nice Bistro with daily specials, as well as a lounge overlooking the golf course, golfing, tennis, seasonal pool, trail rides, a fun recreation room for the kids and a very kid-friendly park! Up to four (4) guest cards are provided free for your use and enjoyment. Back at our mountain home, you will enjoy star-filled skies, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and peace and quiet!!
