About Tom McReynolds & Maggie Kuhn
Aunt Maggie moved here and built the house in 1953. In the 1980's the master bedroom was added on. Maggie's husband was a float plane guide and she worked at Gwin's Lodge. She also served as postmaster in Cooper Landing before we had an official post office. Maggie had an incredible green thumb and her garden was one of the best in Cooper Landing, and still is. Maggie was instrumental in founding the Cooper Landing Community library. I am Maggie's nephew and happy to share her home and story with you.

Wonderful lake home!
Our stay at Maggie and Tom's place was great. Even with the smoke from nearby fire, we enjoyed the tranquility of the lake and the beautiful views when we had them. The house was well equipped, especially the kitchen. I would recommend it to anyone!
Honest and accommodating hosts
Due to an unforeseen forest fire in the area, we were unfortunately unable to stay at this house during our trip to Alaska this summer. However, Maggie and Tom were incredibly honest and flexible in allowing us to change our plans at the last minute due to the fires impacting air quality. They were forthcoming about the conditions the day before we were set to leave allowing us to find alternative accommodations in a different part of the state. We will definitely be back to see the Kenai in all its glory in the upcoming years, and will not hesitate to book from Maggie and Tom when we return.
Clean, cozy cabin with beautiful view and great outdoor space!
I wish we could have stayed here longer! This was the perfect location for exploring the Kenai Peninsula. The owners were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Maggie gave us some great suggestions for hikes in the area and set us up with a great fishing guide for a day trip on the Kenai River. The view of the lake was beautiful and we had fun using the binoculars to watch wildlife on the lake and mountains. Our favorite spot in the evenings was around the fire pit right at the edge of the lake. Such a peaceful and relaxing lakeside retreat!
Relaxing location and a beautiful home
We rented this property in mid May 2019. We were provided with the check-in / access information to the home prior to our arrival. We did not have any issues with the check-in or check out. The owner left a "Welcome" note on the dining room table which included her contact phone number in case any issues arose. The home was immaculate and very comfortable. The view of the mountains and lake were spectacular! The home was stocked with all the required/necessary supplies, including the cooking spices. We enjoyed our visit and would rent this house again in the future. We have referred the rental house to our family/friends.
Labor Day Wkd, 2018
What a beautiful spot! The house amenities were perfect for our two couples. We used the house as a homebase while we made day trips nearby. We enjoyed the season-end raspberries from the garden, a lakeside campfire, and nonstop eagle viewing.
Beautiful Location, cabin, everything fantastic!
3 wonderful glorious nights at this ideal place. Spotlessly clean and as charming as can be. Tom was wonderful. So accommodating and helpful in all matters. He really went above and beyond in helping make our stay enjoyable. The views from the cabin were gorgeous, the lake the dream of any Alaskan holiday. My husband spent one evening on the dock casting.... he said it was one of the most enjoyable things he has done in a long long time. The bed was very comfortable, high quality items throughout the cabin. I would return to this cabin if ever in the area again - which I sure hope I will be! We loved Alaska, we loved Kenai, and we especially loved Maggie's cabin. We will be back!
Cooper Landing is the most sought after location on the Kenai Peninsula to base an amazing vacation out of. Enjoy the close proximity to world famous fishing on the Russian and Kenai Rivers. Saltwater fishing in Seward and Homer are just short day trips away. Nestled in the Kenai Mountains, Cooper Landing is arguably the most beautiful spot on the entire Kenai Peninsula.
