This condo was perfect for our family of four adults. The location was great to walk to the beach or the nearby shops and many restaurants. The pool and tennis court were nice features and all of the neighbors were very friendly. Marco Island is beautiful and we especially enjoyed taking long walks along Collier Blvd. We enjoyed the comedy show at Capt. Brien's Seafood restaurant and our meal at Snook Inn. If you want to see alligators (for free), drive to HP Williams park on rte 41 and then drive down the dirt road beside the park and look for alligators on the banks. Elisabeth, the rental agent, was very friendly and helpful. We definitely recommend staying here and can't wait to go back already!!!
Enjoyed our stay very much for Easter week. Very close to beach. We went everyday, swam in the condo pool and played tennis a few times. We brought our 6 mo old who enjoyed the pool a ton. The condo was very well kept and quiet. If we come back to Marco Island, we will look to stay here again.
Our family of 5~ 2 adults and 3 kids enjoyed a wonderful week in Marco Island. The Essex was a perfect location for us. The best kept secret is the Sunset Grille across the street. We went there on our last night and loved it! The condo was very spacious and well appointed with about everything you could possibly need. There is a pool on the property, not very big, but works for a dip in the afternoon after a long day on the beach. Hopefully we will be able to come again...soon
Everything you read in the VRBO ad about this condo is true and accurate. A very nice unit located in a very nice property on the South end of Marco. All the residents we met there, owners and renters alike, were very friendly and most return year after year. We were looking for a place in Naples, when Sally of Jag Properties sold us on Marco. Incidentally, she is a fantastic person to deal with, very helpful and responsive. We had not been to Marco in 25 or so years, and really enoyed our stay, so much so, that we extended it for several days past our planned deparure.
The unit is a nice 2bed/2 bath condo on the first floor. It is very clean and everything was in good working order. I would guess about 1000 to 1100 sq. ft. Altho I usually prefer to be on a higher floor, the 1st floor at the Essex is about 1/2 story up overlooking a nicely landscapped front lawn. We spent most of our time in the unit on the screened lanai overlooking the front lawn..
What they say about real estate ...location, location, location, the Essex has it all.
The Beach access to the south is at Swallow Ave, just past two condo buildings to the south. Somewhere between .2 and .3 miles on a car odometer, which is not far at all and obviously much closer from Jag's unit at Essex South. Parking for non Collier County residents is $3 a day and is just East of Gene Sarazin park on the SE corner of Swallow and Collier if you have a lot of beach gear to carry. The Beach restaurant at the south Beach waterfront is very reasonable, the Sunset Grille in the Apollo Condo Bldg.
Beach access to the North is about the same walking distance away but to the Marriott Vacation Club at 600 S. Collier. The restaurant there is Stilts, slightly more expensive than the Sunset but a touch nicer. The Hilton is another block or so north and their deck is a great place to view the sunset. The Marriott main hotel is a little further north, but still in walking distance.
The Hilton has a restaurant with a moderately priced menu. Across from the Hilton, on the corner of Collier and Winterberry are a cluster of 4 or 5 restaurants including Sasso's with entertainment nightly. There is an interesting SMALL movie theater that serves food as well. And, something that I found unique to Marco, several restaurants, like CJs on the Bay, will take care of your taxi fare if you have dinner there. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Essex, you will to.
The owner couldn't have been more helpful. The condo was not extravagant but nice. It had all the amenities that we needed. This unit didn't have a view of the ocean. It was less than a 5 min walk to the beach. Of course Marco is beautiful and the restaurants are great. Be sure to take advantage of the awesome sunsets on the beach!!
