Just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, on the “Oltrarno” side of the historic centre of Florence, this lovely and elegant home provides all of the comforts of the modern world combined with the rich history of the 15th Century.
This home used to be the 'Forni Reali' or royal bakery serving the Medici and later the Italian royal family when they occupied the Palazzo Pitti. It comprises 130 square meters (approx. 1,399 sq. ft), and has 3 bedrooms, each with private bathroom, a large living room and fully-equipped modern kitchen. The apartment sleeps 6-8 people, and wraps around a lovely courtyard garden adorned with walnut tree, flowers, fountain and goldfish. Decorated both for comfort and charm, the home contains an eclectic mix of antiques and modern furniture. The apartment has its own private entrance on the ground floor, and is equipped with all necessary amenities, including central heat and air conditioning, satellite TV. DVD/VCR player, WiFi, dishwasher and refrigerator.
I can't let another day go by without telling you how grateful I am for the use of [your home] during our stay in Firenze. You are so generous, and I will never forget how perfect those 2 weeks were! The apartment is just wonderful - so attractive and well-appointed, and so conveniently located. . . Truly the apartment was beyond my wildest expectations - so spacious, and so nicely furnished. Being on the lane of Via Toscanella was a slice of real life, and so convenient to the market and little groceries. It was fun to see who was at the cafe whenever we came out our door. And I loved Quattro Leoni, . . . I think having such a good restaurant so nearby is a big asset.
I loved seeing your husband's art, too. I stayed in the room across the courtyard, and very much enjoyed the scene of Firenze on 'my' wall. His art is so versatile.

Our 1 week stay was definitely not long enough. We loved everything about your Florence home. We highly recommend it to our friends and all who read the guestbook comments. Special thanks to Francesca for being so helpful. The description was very accurate and did not disappoint us in any way.
We were a family of 6 adults and we stayed 5 nights in this charming apartment in a lovely neighborhood. The owner had Veronica greet us and she was very helpful and informative. The noise from outside was very low and most times not even audible. The apartment is clean and maintained well. We were at home in this apartment , especially nice is the 3 bathrooms. Store was within easy walk and the best gelato we had was right next door. Cafe across street also very good and friendly. We intend to recommend this apartment to anyone we know of visiting Florence.
The place is charming. Well located: walking distance from all the major attractions. Francesca was very helpful. However, it is very noisy at night. The patrons of the bar across the street, it is more an alley, are very loud and it can last until one in the morning. The alley is used as the terrasse of the bar, sometimes with people sitting on the doorstep of the appartment. The cushions of the living room furniture could use some restuffing.
A set of earplugs is recommended for those occupying the front room. A door in front of the main bedroom would certainly improve the situation.
My husband and 2 small children, along with my mother- and father-in-law, brother-in-law and his girlfriend, spent a week here last month. It was fantastic. The location is excellent; a stone's throw from the Ponte Vecchio but situated on a quiet side street. We were right next to a tiny square with a couple of great restaurants and the best gelato we ate in Florence. An easy walk to all the major attractions. The apartment itself is a good size; not giant but after having stayed in a couple of hotels there in the past, this is a much more efficient and economical way to go (esp for a larger group). The master bedroom is a great size; my only issue with the second bedroom is that it is attached to the first. But there is a door separating the two; in addition, each bedroom has a door to the terrace so for people in the second bedroom, there is a way to get to the kitchen and living area without cutting through the master. The third bedroom is across the terrace so no issue there. The terrace itself was very cute; interestingly (for Americans anyway!) was that the washing machine is in a corner out there. It worked out fine since the clothes line is right there. My only issue with the terrace is that there are apartments with walkways above ours so occasionally people walked by. But we had no problems and it was never noisy. The only occasional noise was from the front door; people walking by etc but i thought it would be much louder given the amount of tourists in Florence. The kitchen and baths were in great shape. Our contact Francesca was very helpful, and the owner Alkan was very prompt in answering our questions. I highly recommend this apartment.
Close to Ponte Vecchio, and all tourist attractions, including Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza Signoria, and il Duomo; also near antique shops, jewellery, fashion and artisan stores, outdoor markets, restaurants, cafes, parking garages and local bus service.
