Villa Margarita is located in a quiet area in the district of Maccagno Inferiore. The village consists of two districts that are right on the lake and are separated from the river Giona. A 3 km long promenade invites you to stroll by the lake. In front of the promenade are several beaches. The place has some cream / bars, 5 restaurants, UNES supermarket, bank, pharmacy and a railway station, which is connected 8 times a day with the Swiss town of Bellinzona and Luino / Milano Malpensa airport. In stand vis-à-vis the supermarket you can buy the most important German newspapers. From about 300 meters from the pier there several times a day to connect to all the towns on the lake and to the islands in the lake. Numerous hiking trails in the surrounding villages and provide spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
For Kids play areas are available. A course has a Skatbahn with halfpipe and beach volleyball. In the district Superiore is a well-known alpine climbing available, offering all levels of difficulty.
Maccagno is the starting point for many excursions, eg. As in the Swiss towns of Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno and Ascona. In the hinterland of the lakeside villages are well patronized the valleys Val Verzasca and Val Cento Valli, which is developed by the stunning Val Centovalli train. On the Italian side of the lake you will find Luino with the famous Wednesday market, Laveno from where the ferry leaves to the west bank to Verbania-Intra.
