I am currently a teacher in the Eugene School District teaching Visual Art at the Middle School level. We also own a small vineyard in the Lorane Valley outside of Eugene, Oregon.
We purchased Blanco de Vista because of the location. We loved the view and the short walk to the beach through a hobbit hole type trail.
We love going to the beach in every season of the year. In the summer you can enjoy a great walk along the beach and in the winter you can enjoy the winter storms relaxing by the fireplace in the living room. There are many shops and great restaurants in the Florence area.
We had a wonderful stay at Blanco de Vista! The home itself is cozy and inviting, and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking needs. Both bedrooms are generously sized with comfy king-sized beds. Access to the beach is a really charming trail through the scrub trees and over a couple of sand dunes - about a 10 to 15 minute walk, and the beach itself is beautiful and expansive. We hope to stay here again in the future!
WOW. We booked Blanco de Vista without knowing much about the Oregon coast in general, or Florence in particular, and boy did we get lucky in both respects. The house is literally at the end of a rural-feeling dead-end street about 4 miles north of the town center. Right outside your front door is the start of the Hobbit Trail, which is so off the beaten track that it feels like your own private trail- through a tunnel of trees, and out onto the dunes and on to a huge expanse of sandy and almost unpopulated beach. The trail is hard to find with GPS apparently, which helps keep people away. Stunning doesn't begin to describe it. (Our recommendation: mark the entrance back to the trail from the beach with some driftwood, otherwise you might have a hard time finding it again!) Florence and Yachats are both charming little towns with interesting and eccentric little shops. Around Yachats there are some more sheltered beaches too. The drive between the two towns on 101 is stunning and iconic, and there are lots of pull-outs where you can park and head on down to yet another amazing and surprisingly quiet beach. We recommend Neptune in particular.
The house, too, is more than we were expecting from a vacation rental, and could comfortably fit 6 people if you don't mind sharing bathroom! The bathroom layout that another reviewer mentioned didn't bother us. Two real bedrooms with king beds and memory foam (the upstairs one is particularly comfortable.) A really well-equipped kitchen with gas stove, dining area with solid dining table and 4 chairs. A large deck with a view of coastal shrub and the ocean about 1/4 mile away, with at least 6 chairs, and a BBQ. A cosy living area big enough for a group. A hallway with futon , and whole shelf of books and games. Separate laundry room. A little garden area in the back complete with pooper scooper (nice touch!) It's dog-friendly but well-cleaned because there's no odor. We brought our little dog and she was in heaven. My only slight quibble would be the cleaning fee, which seems a little high since we're asked to strip beds and start the laundry before leaving. It would also have been nice to have a little more communication from the owner - we got all instructions etc. just fine but no acknowledgment of our replies and check-out message which would have added a personal touch. But this is just icing on the cake stuff.
Bottom line: BOOK NOW if you're looking for natural beauty and a quiet comfortable rental
We absolutely loved our stay at Blanco de Vista. Perfect location in the Heceta Head Beach area and a short 5 minute walk to the beach over a maintained trail. There are a few dunes to climb at the end of the trail but we had no problems getting over them.
The house is a great set up and could really sleep a lot of people. We are a family of 3 and we had tons of room. The king size beds in both bedrooms were both very comfortable. We enjoyed having multiple tv's supplied with cable and having wifi available also.
Beautiful ocean views from the large front deck and upstairs bedroom. We could hear the ocean at night with the windows left open. Small and private backyard was perfect to take our little dogs out.
Overall this house is an excellent value. The owners are easy to work with and available if you run into any problems. I'm already looking at the calendar to see when we can come back.
My husband and I, along with our friends, had a wonderful time on our ocean getaway. This house was great! We had all the things we needed for our stay. I think the only negative at all was just having one bathroom (with 6 adults) but we managed and will likely stay there again. The owner was EXCELLENT at communicating and answering any questions I had before our trip. Thanks Jan!
Very clean, cozy and inviting space to base camp from or just kick back in front of the fire and watch the sunset across the ocean. End of a private drive, no traffic and your own little path of adventure to the beach. A hidden gem that we will book again! Thank you Jan for sharing your amazing home.
