Stroll down the narrow winding streets of the Turkish quarter of Kyrenia/ Girne and find amongst the old houses and shops an imposing villa, set within a walled landscaped garden with a private pool (10m x 5m) that is drenched in sun all day. The villa, recently renovated, is extremely spacious and has high ceilings. The old thick walls can still be seen in the well-equipped kitchen and front reception room; one of two comfortable reception rooms which, with the kitchen, open onto the terrace that surrounds the villa. The en-suite bedrooms lead onto a balcony with views of the Beshparmak mountains. The gardens and terraces provide plenty of space for outdoor living and children to play. The butcher and grocer are less than a minute down the road, as is the baker, where freshly baked bread can be bought for breakfast. The busy shopping area, cafes and charming harbour with its historic castle are only a leisurely 10 minute walk away.
The swimming pool: The pool is fitted with the latest salt chlorinator system, a natural way to keep the swimming pool clean with superior water quality. The lower level of chlorine and natural salt in the pool system eliminates sore and burning red eyes, green hair, skin irritation and overpowering chlorine odours. Swimmers feel refreshed and skin retains its soft texture. Bathers enjoy their swimming experience so much more in crystal clear water and don't feel as if they have just taken a bath in chemical soup!
Flight information and transfers: Flights coming into Ercan and Larnaca can be met and guests driven to the villa, please enquire when booking. Car hire can also be arranged. Cars hired in the North of Cyprus usually have free pick up and drop off at Ercan airport, reduced rates from Larnaca.
We stayed at the villa for two weeks and could happily have stayed a lot longer. It had everything we needed and more. Mel met us when we arrived and she got in some essential supplies so we didn't need to stock up at the supermarket straight away. Unfortunately Charlie was unwell so we never got a chance to meet him. Mel was extremely helpful and answered all our questions during our stay. The information left by previous guests was really helpful too and a great idea for future visitors.
The weather was great, with the exception of one day when it rained, so we spent most of the time lazing round the pool - well as much as you can with a 10 month old baby! We certainly enjoyed excellent food, both at the harbour and by making good use of the villa's barbecue. We bought meat and vegetables at the local butchers and green grocers, and the nearby bakery did the most wonderful olive bread.
Thanks Mary for ensuring everything went perfectly from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. We would definitely use the villa again and are looking at next year's dates already!
Well, the first thing to strike you is the sheer amount of space everywhere, both inside and out. We hardly used the two sitting rooms ! There are four double bedrooms upstairs with a walk-round terrace ! Downstairs, a large kitchen and two sitting rooms. Outside, a large verandah where you can sit in the shade.
The swimming pool is long enough for a proper swim (10 metres). The garden is full of fruit trees, flowering bushes and butterflies.
There is a weekly gardener and cleaners, and a daily pool-man.
The villa is situated in a quiet residential area about 10-15 minutes walk to the town centre/ harbour. There are three popular restaurants within 5 minutes walk (Number 14, Effendi, and Ikimiz).
Mary (the owner) replies quickly to any e-mails and is very helpful and friendly. The photos are all genuine.
An oasis of calm and beauty !
This was our third visit to this property over the last six years at different times of the year and once again we had a great holiday in this very well appointed and comfortable house. The house is well equipped for self-catering with plenty of plates, cups, glasses of all sizes and kitchen equipment all in very good condition. There is a huge American style fridge freezer with ice maker in the large kitchen.
The garden is beautiful and well maintained with lots of colourful flowers, plants, bushes and fruit trees and depending on when you visit you can have a plentiful supply of fruit on hand, this time around we had more fresh lemons than we knew what to do with!
The large pool is surprisingly private for a town location and the water is fresh and clean with very few chemicals as it is filled from a well in the garden. It’s also large enough for “proper” swimming and my wife was able to keep up her regular swimming routine.
The pictures and description of the house and garden on the website are more than truthful. In fact they do not prepare you for how big the house and the garden actually are – both are huge.
The villa is located a short walk from Kyrenia harbour and town and there are also a couple of good ex-pat restaurants even closer (one is virtually opposite) if the local cuisine gets too much for you.
The local shops have everything you need day to day and there is also a large supermarket nearby for initial stocking up.
Once again our cross-border transfers from and to Larnaca airport went smoothly and the car that we hired as part of the transfer package was there when we arrived and was great for visiting local places, although we were enjoying our time at the house and by the pool so much that we ended up not using it much.
You definitely do not need a car from this location as the town is close-by and other local sites are easily accessible by Taxi or Bus.
The house and garden is so lovely it’s tempting not to leave it at all. We will certainly be returning.
A beautiful house in a beautiful location . Service is super .Thank you Maria for a great vacation .I miss this beautiful garden and comfortable swimming pool.
When we saw this villa listed, we thought it looked so good that there must be a catch, but when we arrived it greatly surpassed our expectations.
We travelled with our 6 children, aged 16 - 5 yrs, and found the villa to be so spacious we hardly used one reception room, although a good "calm no kids" room . All the bedrooms were large and airy, and a real luxury having on-suite wet rooms!. Lovely views from the balcony of sea and mountain. Having 4 loos with a big family pretty good too. The kitchen is huge and stocked with all you could need, inc a dishwasher! Though it being only a 10 minute stroll through the pretty old streets to the harbour, and a great selection of cafes and restaurants meant we ate out cheaply most nights. The garden was lavish and beautiful, perfectly maintained. . Having the TV and games console did help the kids wind down in the evenings, but the pool! The pool was spotless and crystal clear, the kids practically lived in it, and it really helped make our holiday relaxing and peaceful but fun too. However many pictures you take, none of them can totally convey just how lovely it really here. We felt it gave our holiday the most stress-free, peaceful and lavish surroundings we could have hoped for. I would and will recommend it to everyone, big families or couples alike. Thank you Mary.
Stayed for 1 week in a group of 6 adults and were gobsmacked at the amount of space there was both inside and out ! The rooms are spacious and has one of the largest kitchens we have seen in a villa and the fridge with water/ice dispenser were a god-send !, The swimming pool was amazing and the water crystal clear and never too cold due to the hot day long sun !! The garden is very pretty with orange, lemon ,lime, and pomegranate trees and numerous plants and shrubs and in the evenings the garden is full of wonderful aromas which make it perfect for alfresco dining or a glass of wine or three !!! There are a couple of stores close by including a bakery (yummy fruit bread ) which is very convenient should you run out of milk etc although a 10-15 minute walk takes you to the Lemar supermarket which stocks everything you will ever need through your stay ,and where you will find the most delicious jam doughnuts we have ever had even at home !!! The harbour is only a short distance for various restaurants and bars but on the way you must venture to The Colony hotel roof-top terrace for an early evening cocktail in their "Happy Hour 4pm-7pm" although I will pre-warn you they are very potent and wont need to many should you wish to see the evening out !! We had the most excellent break and Thankyou Mary for letting us share a little piece of paradise and hope to return again one day !!
The Lappers,Sanders and Mitchells !!
