This is 'HAWAII HOUSE' at MOKULEIA on the 'LOST' coast of Oahu.
This beautiful OCEANFRONT HOME is both welcoming and laid-back, the perfect family destination or romantic getaway. This home will instantly feel like your very own private beach house. The property offers all of the abundant thoughtful features as found in your own home, and more. The house is located in a wonderful, small community of oceanfront homes.
The house has HIGH OPEN BEAM CEILINGS, with beautiful ceiling fans, through all living areas. The home features stone and tile floors throughout. The home offers a state of the art central air conditioning system in all bedrooms. The many large window doors form a wonderfully open, expansive and light environment. Ceiling fans and trade winds lazily cool the common areas. The house has a stunning ocean-view, fully appointed, gourmet kitchen for when you choose to cook and great restaurants close by, in Haleiwa, when you choose not to. It is situated just down the beach from the location where the 'Lost' survivors landed on the beach, in one of the most undeveloped areas of Hawaii.
The location offers unsurpassed sunset and ocean views.
Fall asleep to the sounds of the sea. The house offers premium bedding with top of the line mattresses. Wake to the breathtaking view from the OCEAN VIEW MASTER BEDROOM. Shower in the hot outdoor shower. The home has a beautifully landscaped yard. Surrounded by lush and manicured tropical gardens and a seawall that adds a very private feel to the grounds. Relax, soak up the sun in the yard, or choose from the many activities very close by. The area is great for swimming, kayaking, surfing and snorkeling, as conditions permit. Horseback riding is available at the nearby Polo Grounds. There is epic hiking in the mountains behind the house. Skydiving, glider rides, fishing and mountain biking are within minutes away. Whale watch from the living room during the winter months and swim nearby with sea turtles year round. Buy local fruit from the farmer’s market in old Waialua town on Saturday mornings or the at the Haleiwa farmer’s market on Sunday. Just down the road are amazing deserted beaches and Kaena Point State Park.
This is truly a special area of the islands, remote yet only a short ride into the world famous surf town of Haleiwa and just a 45-minute drive to the excitement of Honolulu and Waikiki, in case you are in need of night life or a little 'retail therapy'.
Enjoy the awesome sunrises and sunsets, the ocean sounds, the trade winds and the incredible star-filled night skies at this charming, comfortable, secure and private oceanfront Hawaiian home. This is truly, a slice of Paradise.
This house will comfortably accommodate a large family or group. It is also PERFECT for couples traveling together or as a romantic extra spacious getaway for 2!!
We had the best family vacation ever, in this wonderfull house.Watched the resident sea turtles every morning. Then the sky divers would start dropping out of the sky.Loved the private beach and all of the wonderfull activities,Kayaks, snorkeling gear, boggie boards, surf boards. The house was every thing that we had hoped for++..The owner was great to work with and we would highly recomend this great house. We had 20 days of heaven here and are planing on returning!!!!
From the moment we arrived we were in love with the house and location-it had everything we needed! There were 3 families that stayed here….6 adults and 5 children all under the age of four. We all fit comfortably. The kids loved playing in the backyard and the ocean wall was tall enough that we didn't have to worry about them falling off. However, we still made sure to watch closely so they didn't climb up but it wasn't a big concern as I had thought it might be.
The house was well stocked and even had a highchair and portable crib. Also had lots of great games, snorkel gear, fishing pools, and binoculars! The only thing that would've been nice was to have some blackout curtains for the bedrooms.
We couldn't swim directly in front of the house because there wasn't enough beach but the view was beautiful and we loved listening to the ocean! There was an awesome beach just a couple hundred yards down the road that we went to almost every day...evening time at this beach was magical! It was always quit and we saw lots of turtles, some stingrays, and even a seal.
Haleiwa was only about a 10-15 minute drive from the house. We loved the Waialua Bakery there! You must go...they make all the food from scratch and grow most of the fruits and vegetables on their local family farm. Ice-cream sandwiches and smoothies are amazing, as well as,the sandwiches! Great prices too!
We also rented some kayaks in Haleiwa from Tropical Rush to go up the river. I'd also recommend doing this during the evening as you're more likely to see turtles and the weather is cooler, afterwards they give you free shaved ice which is really yummy. (Don't waste your time standing in line for a shaved ice at Motsomotos)
This trip was absolutely amazing and The Hawaii house was perfect for the quiet and relaxed trip we were hoping to have! Loved the beautiful location we'll be back for sure!
The pictures don't really do the place justice. When you walk through the front door, you can see the ocean clear across through the back windows of the house and know that your vacation has properly begun. The owner was a pleasure to work with, the house has just about everything you need for a pleasant stay, and it's located in the best (imho) area of Oahu: the north shore. A small heads up: if you take a dip into the ocean out back, make sure you wear water shoes to protect your feet from rocks. :) We hope to stay here again soon!
If you really want to experience living in Hawaii, this is the house for you! Away from the crowds, you will enjoy the tranquilly of the island with your own private beach. My favorite part was listening to the waves every night and drinking my coffee outside enjoying the view. The house was roomy and very well stocked. Grocery stores not too far away. If I'm ever lucky enough to come back, I will definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay at this Ocean Front Home. The owners have made sure that everything you need is there for you.
Kitchen is large and well equipped with all cooking utensils that you would need to self cater. Some staples are also left in the cupboards (although I suspect this may be what previous tennants have left behind, rather than stocked by owners- salt pepper, cling wrap etc) Dishwasher with dishwashing powder also included.
Other welcome inclusions were a huge bag of snorkels and goggles, body boards, floaty rings and lilos - very useful for snorkelling/swimming at beaches and bays nearby. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels for all and a washer and dryer with laundry detergent and soaker for the duration of our stay. There was also a boules game kit that the kids made frequent use of.
While at the house, we frequently sat out the front on the Seawall and watched the sea turtles Pop their heads up out of the water as they swam by. Kids blew up the lilos and walked down the rocks out front and swam/floated with them.
There were some downsides- the house is quite dark , but no doubt this helps to keep it cool.
The location, though beautiful and peaceful, is quite isolated. It's a good 15 minute drive to Haliewa for supplies or eating out. The house is ocean front but there is no beach access. The advertised beach access that was once a 5 minute walk down the road has since been blocked off. To access a beach at all, it is at least a 15 minute walk, but best beaches are at and beyond Haliewa.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We would have liked to have been a little closer to Haliewa, but this house still represented good value for money. We were 2 families with teenaged children - a total of 7 people, and there was plenty of space for all.
The first thing we noticed walking through the door was the beautiful view from the family room and the Master. The house perfectly accommodated everyone. It was nice to wake up in the morning and have a cup coffee outside while listening to the waves hit the rocks.
There is no direct beach access from the house and the warnings about slippery rocks are true. We did not risk trying to get into the water from the back access.
We were able to see both the sunrise and sunsets from the back. Sea turtles swam near the rocks daily, the kids loved that. There is a nice park with beach access just 5 minutes from the house, beautiful and not at all crowded so you can enjoy the beach, sun, water, and local people without the tourist crowd.
We accidentally forgot some stuff at the house and Penny the manager was very kind in mailing us the items.
The house came fully equipped with everything we needed. The AC was only located inside the bedrooms, but as long as you threw open the doors in the family room and let the fresh air in, the temperature and humidity was not an issue.
The entire family had a great time here. Thanks!
