About Ian or Lynn Bashaw
Captain Ian Hi I am Ian and I will be your captain. Lynn and I very much enjoy sharing our passion for sailing with others, and we look very forward to cruising with you in the beautiful waters of the Bahamas. I started sailing at the age of 5 with my Dad and have never stopped. I was an avid racer for most of my life and as children came along, we moved to fast cruising boats to introduce them to our passion. I have sailed well over 50,000 nautical miles on the Great Lakes, Eastern US coast and in the Caribbean. I have also done yacht deliveries from the Caribbean to the US. Knowing that life is short, Lynn and I quit the rat race earlier than most to further our own interests. I am an Engineer by training and left the high tech area as an executive for a fortune 500 company, managing their Patented Intellectual Property. My engineering background has allowed me to design, install and maintain every system on each of our boats including Windward. Admiral and Hostess Extraordinaire: I am Lynn the other half of the crew. The galley is my area of prime concern while you are aboard ensuring delicious and healthy gourmet meals. My husband Ian began teaching me how to sail with the purchase of our first boat back in 1988. I now have approximately 35,000nm of sailing experience and hold a US Coast Guard Captain’s License. I am a retired pharmacist and certified in first aid and CPR. In the beginning, sailing was our weekend and vacation passion for our family. As the last child packed for University, we began implementing the final stages of the “sell it all and go sailing” plan. After 4 winters in the Bahamas hosting many guests, we are ready to share our “home” and passion with you.
Why Ian or Lynn Bashaw chose Exuma
Everything is just more beautiful when viewed from the water and the most beautiful places in the Bahama's can ONLY be reached by boat...deserted beaches...the best reefs to snorkel / lobster....the best hiking etc. This is an all inclusive vacation...but for customary gratuities our guests don't spend a cent while with us!! We have explored the Bahamas for years and will take you to the best places for an unforgettable experience that will be etched in your memories for a life time.
What makes this Yacht unique
Lynn and I believe in giving our guests a truly personal experience aboard Windward. To achieve this we only take 2 guests and work with you to create an itinerary that only includes exactly what you want to see and do. This is your vacation and you should not have to compromise or make group decesions !

The Windward was an amazing vessel. She took us in comfort wherever we needed to go.
We had an amazing experience during our ten day trip in the Exumas. Everything was beautiful. From the water to the abundant sea wildlife that we saw. The beauty is indescribable and has to be experienced in person to appreciate it. Add to all that the great food and the royal treatment we got the entire trip made it an unforgettable experience. Ian and Lynn were wonderful hosts who took care of all our needs. It’s a trip we’ll never forget.
Loved every minute.
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Lynn and Ian aboard Windward. We saw gorgeous(!) sites, partook in amazing adventures, and ate tasty, tasty food. We hope to be lucky enough to book another trip with Windward. Truly, can't wait to do it again!
Top notch, all inclusive sailing adventure
First off, Ian and Lynn are the most wonderful hosts. Lynn is such a thoughtful person and great cook-she kept us full of delicious food and drink all week! Ian is very laid back and a passionate sailor. They both are so interesting and we very much enjoyed our time with them. The boat is beautifully kept, homey, and ultra cozy. Our hosts have a love and appreciation for the wonder of the Bahamas out islands which they generously shared with my husband and I. From taking us snorkeling on remote coral reefs to hiking on uninhabited islands, Ian and Lynn made our week on the Windward such an unforgettable adventure. Everything was tailored specifically to our liking and we just couldn’t be more pleased. We feel so blessed to have experienced a week living aboard the Windward, and recommend this trip to anyone seeking a relaxing getaway or an adventure at sea! We are already thinking of a return trip!
Private Gettaway, great for couples!
Lyn and Ian were so focused on are stay it was fabulous. They take great pride and care in their boat and your vacation. The food was gourmet and everything tasted wonderful from to start to finish! The views and snorkeling are some of the best in the world and it was clear Ian knew where the wildlife lived from fish to eagle rays we saw so much. Great trip wonderful time we will never forget.
Adventure of a Lifetime, Absolutely Unique, Amazing, Experience with Exceptional Hosts
My boyfriend and I stayed aboard the Windward in March 2018. This trip exceeded all expectations! First, our hosts, Lynn & Ian, were amazing people to spend a week with. They are super cool, fun people. They’ll be as active as you like. Sailing was a unique way to experience The Exumas, since there are so many islands. We went further and saw more places than I thought were possible. They have a dinghy which they used to take us into remote beaches, coral reefs, fishing flats, etc. Their knowledge of the area, location of reefs, fish, tides, wind, currents, etc. was so helpful in planning activities in a way you can’t imagine until you’ve experienced it. They both have many years of sailing/hosting experience and it really shows. The previous reviews were right: the food was excellent! Everything Lynn made was delicious & there was fresh ground coffee each morning! The great thing about this is that it’s truly all inclusive; everything you can think of (even things you don’t) is included: meals, snacks, coffee, alcohol, drinks, the dinghy, snorkel gear, fishing licenses, spear fishing licenses, lobstering licenses, boat gas, anchoring fees...Also, their truly priceless knowledge. It made the trip stress-free for us both. Staying on land wouldn’t have allowed us to get the full experience of The Exumas the way we did with them on their boat (which was very clean & in excellent condition). We did so many things on this trip: flyfishing for bonefish & barracuda, deep-sea fishing, spear fishing, snorkeling, swimming, visiting remote private beaches...They customize it to whatever you want & take care of absolutely everything. My boyfriend & I agree: The Exumas are the most beautiful place either of us have ever seen, and we’ve both traveled a lot. The pictures can’t capture the beauty. The location alone makes this the perfect setting for a great vacation, but having experienced hosts like Lynn & Ian to show you around all the best places and really create a trip around your tastes, made this even more amazing. The way we were able to experience the islands & how they made this trip so personal for us really made this a truly unique experience that we still can’t stop talking about. We were planning our return trip with them before we left! This is a great vacation for an active couple looking to have an awesome adventure together, who want a truly unique experience. I cannot recommend this enough!
Amazing, top notch hospitality, beautiful beyond words, daily commute to the next beautiful reef.
Lynn and Ian are the consummate hosts. They have thought of everything, you just show up, enjoy, explore, laugh and be awed by the beauty.
You will love the many deserted sandy beaches that Windward will take you to. Enjoy the swimming pigs, beautiful shallow reefs, eagle rays, turtles, dolphins. Snorkle the infamous Thunderball Grotto that James Bond made famous in his movie 'Thunderball' . Sailing on the spectacular crystal clear Bahama banks or the ocean... you will not get better sailing! Troll for Mahai Mahai, Tuna or Wahoo...enjoy the catch of the day at anchor while watching the sun go down... It IS better in the Bahamas !!!
