Best bet in Bloomsbury!
We spent a wonderful week here this past June. The location was perfect. We were a few minutes from the Russell Square tube station and a short walk to the British Museum. A quick elevator ride down to the concourse brought us to an excellent supermarket, cafes, and shops. The neighborhood and adjacent park were very nice and felt safe. Lunch at Balfour's (recommended by Kierion) was just the beginning of what proved to be a great holiday. Never having rented a vacation property before, we were unsure what to expect. We were very delighted with the flat...it was comfortable, spacious, and very bright and airy as described. Because the weather was uncommondly dry and warm, we enjoyed coffee every morning on the lovely terrace. In the evenings, we enjoyed a bottle of wine (courtesy of the owner) with dinner. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen were all larger than we expected. Having a computer and a washer/dryer were welcome extras. If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient flat at very reasonable rates, this is definitely your best bet in Bloomsbury! Thankyou, Kierion!
Great value with easy access to the heart of London
We were traveling as a group of 5. There was plenty of space for us, as long as we were willling to share queen beds. The pull out was relatively comfortable and fine for my 12 year old. There were plenty of extra pillows and sheets around to make up the extra beds as needed.
Kierion greeted us at the train station, walked us to the apartment and showed us around. He also purchased some groceries for us as we were arriving after 10:00PM and needed to eat something, but all the shops were closed. It was very helpful!
We visited during a heat wave, and there is no air conditioning, but the evening was cool and all the windows and three patio doors could remain open while we slept, for a lovely cross breeze.
The apartment is in good condition in a modern concrete building. Our space was well maintained and functional, though not luxurious. It was akin to a post-college apartment where the tenants had cleaned really well knowing mom and dad were coming for a visit. There were a wide selection books and other items other tenenants had left behind on a shelf and we enjoyed looking at them. Some basics were in place, like dish soap, salt, pepper, body wash, etc.
Just outside the apartment, between two identical apartment buildings, is a modern outdoor shopping court, mostly full of chain restaurants like starbucks, nandos, and other fast casual places, plus a full supermarket and a convenience supermarket with extended hours. There is also a pharmacy. Basically, anything your family needed and a great jumping off point for breakfast. It was a short walk to kings cross, and just beyond, the canal-side Granary Square for a beautiful shopping and dining evening. Go at sunset. We also walked to Fitzrovia for an evening meal and ice cream.
We walked to and from the London Eye, Westminster, etc. While not a short walk, it was scenic and led us through all the neighborhoods we would not be able to explore this visit.
We would definitely recommend this apartment. It's a bit quirky, but fun, and provided for our every need.
Location and Comfort
VRBO lives and dies by honest reviews. I aspire to describe the accommodation fairly. Communication before arrival was good. Location could not be easier to find nor better for the Bloomsbury area. Getting into the room was very easy; Keirion answered and was there promptly. He is very kind and welcoming. All was ready. We arrived during a particularly hot period in London and were pleased to learn the apartment had two fans. The apartment is a good size and was stocked with all that one would expect in a VRBO and a bit more. (ie: there were laundry detergent tabs that made things easy for us.) Brunswick Centre is very unusual, bit brutal on the outside. inside the apartment is warm and inviting. There is a long balcony that connects the living area and the two bedrooms. Fun to stand out and just watch the world go by. All of the apartment was clean and prepared. Bathroom has been updated and all worked well. Beds were spotless and comfortable (and not worn out). All four of us were pleased and felt safe, private, and comfortable. If you are there in the months when the windows must be open, you need to know there is considerable street noise. To sum: the apartment and the host are exactly what make VRBO such a fine way to travel. All four of us agreed that we would stay here again next time in London.
Our stay in London was fabulous and our spacious location in Bloomsbury was perfect. Our family of five was very comfortable in the flat and we enjoyed the nearby amenities and tube station.
Spacious apartment in Russell Square
My family and I stayed at this spacious apartment while staying in London. We were greeted at the Underground station by Robin and escorted to the apartment. We arrived prior to check in time, and were able to leave our luggage while Robin finished cleaning the apartment. We enjoyed the location of this apartment and its amenities while staying in London. We would certainly rebook this apartment on our next visit to London. Thank you!
Ideal location for London stay.
Firstly, Kieron could not have been more accommodating- he let us drop our bags off at 11:00am and allowed us to check out late as our train home wasn’t until late afternoon. The flat is as described, above a small shopping centre with a decent sized Waitrose. This was great for buying our provisions as it was less than a minute’s walk away.
The flat itself is well laid out with large bedrooms and our party of 3 adults and 3 children had plenty of room. It is ‘lived in’ so we were able to relax and make ourselves at home.
I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that bits and bobs in the flat were more shabby than chic. For example, one of the drawers in the chest in the bedroom was falling apart. These things could be easily put right to make this a really super home from home - but then Keiron could charge more and we wouldn’t be able to afford it!
