Why Ian Leach chose Nethy Bridge

We holidayed in the area for many years before buying the house. We love the easy access to lots of outdoor sports and beautiful unspoilt countryside.

What makes this house unique

Its so peaceful! And the fresh air and the views of stars on a clear night are wonderful when you live most of the year in a city. There are fantastic views of forests and mountains and the weather rolling by from the sunroom. There is a river at the bottom of the garden - over a stile ,where you can light a bonfire and toast on a summer evening . From the house it takes a few minutes to walk , or bike into the Abernethy forest and there are miles of fantastic trails .

Wonderful, modern, spacious and in a fantastic, peaceful location.

A really relaxing break in a wonderful home from home. Very well equipped and chosen because my son is a wheelchair user [non permanent] and the ground floor en-suite has a walk in shower. [NB It isn't a 'wet room']. We all enjoyed the house - perfect that there were three tv's with dvd players for when different children wanted to watch different things. Perfect that the conservatory had good doors to allow escape from the tv and the peace of surveying the beauty outside, and the wildlife, whilst enjoying a good book and glass of wine! The house is extremely well equipped and the garage games room is a welcome bonus. Very comfortable, the weather was too warm to justify using the wood burner, but I sure hope to come back in the winter months!

The front door has two steps and there are more at the rear, so those fully reliant on a wheelchair would find it a barrier.

Incredible house!!!

We are a Spanish family of 9 people...and was an amazing stay in spite of the Scottish Weather appeared in its own reality: rain, cold and wind in late June!

House is quite modern, comfortable, clean and best value for money.

Is a strong recommendation for families with kids (they'll enjoy the kids garden, the table games, kids TV channels...and the "Bambies" just eating on the back of the garden. Its amazing wildlife for the kids (and adults as well).

Thanks for the hospitality of Ian...and Trish (B&B in front of the house). Really helpfull on the first days.

Fantastic House, really clean, spacious and extremely well equipped. The added horses and pony at the end of the very large garden was a real bonus. I had imagined the garden play equipment would be too small for my girls but my 10 and 12 year old seemed to enjoy it. The bedrooms were very large and comfy. 3 Bathrooms a real bonus when there are 4 females in your family.

The Sun room was delightful had many a morning coffee in there watching the girls in the garden with the horses. Also made a great place for the children to play games or do puzzles whilst the adults relaxed in front of the tv at the end of a busy day.

Good location for seeing the highlands, we visited Loch Ness, Landmark (just literally up the road) is a great outdoor adventure park for children of all ages.

Highlands folk museum a FREE attraction with lots to keep children amused, again only about 20 mins away.

We arrived on the day of the Nethy Bridge Highland Games which was terrific really bought the village to life, which although was great, did make the village seem a little flat when it was over. Nethy Bridge is a lovely quiet place, not much in the village to do, (although does have a very well stocked spar, and butchers) which for us was great, when we wanted adventure we hopped in our car and knew we had this lovely tranquil house to return to after all the hustle and bustle of the day.

I would recommend this house to anyone wanted to get away from it all in a lovely peaceful environment but being able to see the attractions the Highlands has to offer without having to travel too far.

If I had to find a fault it would be the shared access to the garage. We were unaware of this prior to booking and although not major issue could present a problem if you wished to garage your vehicle. However there is plenty of space on the driveway (we parked 2 large cars without no problems).

The only other thing was the football table being housed in the garage wasnt really able to be used, could poss be re-sited in the very lovely sun room.

Over all excellent house, good location and would love to come again.

The house is ideally situated to enjoy all the activities the Cairngorm national park has to offer. There are walks and cycles from the doorstep and an abundance of wildlife. Deer and red squirrels are often seen in the village and the Loch Garten osprey centre is less than 10 min away. You can take a steam train from the edge of the village to Aviemore which is 20 min drive away. Watersports and swimming can be enjoyed at nearby Loch Morlich and there is skiing and great hillwalking in the nearby mountains. There are swimming pools in Aviemore as well as a children fun house for when the sun is not shining .

The village has a 9 hole golf course and there are several other good golf courses at Boat of Garten and Aviemore. There are also tennis courts and a bowling green close by.

Inverness is 40 min drive and the house is well situated for day trips to Loch Ness , Fort William and Nairn and the Moray Firth with its sandy beaches and where dolphin watching trips can be enjoyed.

Other Activities: Bird watching

Ski: Cairngorm ski area is 25 mins drive and the Lecht is 35 mins drive.. There are also great cross country skiing tracks through the nearby forest .
