My name is Rita and I live in Canada. In 2015 my daughter and I purchased a traditional Alentejo house in need of a lot of attention. We have spent the past 4 years renovating and modernizing our Cercal house and surrounding property. It has been a labour of love and we are now ready to share our Portuguese home with caring visitors.
Rita purchased this House in 2015

From the house, it is a quick 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to the town of Cercal, where you will find cafes, restaurants, grocery stores, a butcher shop, a seafood store, a pharmacy and gift shops.
Porto Covo and its spectacular beaches is just a 15 minute drive away.
A 20 minute drive will take you to Vila Nova de Milfontes and its excellent restaurants.
Rota Vicentino, the long-distance Portuguese hiking trail runs through Cercal. Day hikes in three different directions or shorter treks are just a 2-minute walk from your doorstep. See the several photos of nearby hikes as well as the map of the nearby sections of the Rota Vicentino.
The Algarve coast can be visited as an easy day trip.
The colorful Mercado Das Brunheiras (gypsy market) is not to be missed. It takes place two Saturdays a month and is a short 10 minute drive away. See the 4 photos of the gypsy market.
We recommend having a car to get to, and navigate, Cercal and the surrounding area. This will provide you with the most freedom. There are buses that can take you from Lisbon to Cercal, as well as some local buses to take you to nearby towns.
