Breathtaking Property & Fantastic Host
We were fortunate enough to stay at this property for nine days and our entire group was completely blown away by a combination of breathtaking Hudson River views, high-end elegant finishes throughout the home and an extremely gracious and responsive host. Key highlights of this property are its idyllic private setting, proximity to quaint towns (Rhinebeck, Kingston, etc.) and various on-site features such as a media room, downstairs game room, expansive upper level deck with hot tub & backyard pool area, each offering stunning views. The interior and exterior are equally artistically pleasing and complete with detailed custom finishes unique to this property. In addition, our host Bud was extremely responsive and offered us an impressive pre-arrival package complete with detailed instructions for operating various parts of the house and suggestions for short trips to neighboring towns. Throughout our stay he made himself available for questions, etc. which was above and beyond the level of service we could have ever expected or received anywhere else. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a truly memorable travel experience as it greatly exceeded all of our expectations.
From the moment we booked using VRBO the experience was perfect. Bud the owner was incredibly helpful. The house was beautiful, clean and exactly as advertised. We had a wonderful break and plan on booking to return as soon as we can.
The best guests ever. Warm, funny, I knew they would love the house as soon as they walked in. They showed their love by returning it better than when they arrived. Every word between us was positive & affirming. If Warren ever picks your property, grab him. You won't find a better guest.
Exactly what we needed.
From the 1st moment you pull into the property from Felson. The artistic vibe and serenity hits you for a magical moment. Opening the front door into a designer's parridice. Overlooking the Hudson in your own private retreat. Swimming in the pool that's heated. And relaxing under the stars at night in the hot tub. Everything was clean and fresh. From the moment we first spoke with the owner and through out. He helped and directed us with an issue that was in need of handling. He is the most respectful homeowner and thank you for allowing my wife and I to share this magical experience that we will never forget. Our bags are packed for our next visit to the beautiful estate.
Many of the details of this home have been covered in other reviews so I will make mine simple and to the point--
You're not going to find a more beautiful home, a more beautiful location, or a more responsive owner (who designed, built, and furnished it himself).
Simple as that.
So if you're thinking twice about whether to take it, once was enough--take it.
But not at a time when I'm going to come back!
Graduation weekend retreat
Perfect property to celebrate our daughters college graduation ! The house has lovely public spaces. The view of the Hudson is incredible!! Words can not describe how wonderful the view from the deck.
Stunning house and location
What a beautiful home! My family had a lovely few days here and will definitely come again!
An architectural masterpiece set in nature's most stunning creation. As magnificent as any European locale yet only 1.5 hours from NYC. One of the greatest estates built in the Hudson Valley in modern times. A private oasis constructed of the finest materials: Limestone, beechwood, electronic lighting controls & more. Its vistas are brought inside through floor-to-ceiling 10' operable glass throughout. Whether staring at the river with its leisurely ships floating by from every bedroom, the hot tub, the salt-water pool (seasonal) or the great room with its huge fireplace, you will enter a state of meditative relaxation never thought possible so close to Manhattan. The only house visible from the villa is FDR's Birthplace & Summer White House, now a national park and Presidential Library.
Dine (or take mini-courses) at the Culinary Institute of America, also visible across the river from the villa or any of the superb locally-sourced restaurants in the area or cook your own meal from ingredients bought at the world renown local farmer's markets.
Explore the Hudson Valley, with every imaginable site less than 45 minutes away - from antiquing to apple picking to Robber Baron mansions to skiing. Or stay at home and play tennis on the lighted court (seasonal), swim (seasonal), hike the grounds, entertain on the expansive deck, relax in the hot tub or one of the 3 Jacuzzis, 2 steam showers or 2-person real lava-rock sauna. Play ping pong, air hockey, play music, play video games, watch movies on a 10' high-definition screen. Stroll or sit in the private sculpture garden or do nothing at all & still feel like you've got it all.
There is ample parking on the grounds. The house is 10 minutes from the Poughkeepsie Train Station with service from NYC via Amtrak (1:20) & MetroNorth (1:50). It can be reached by car via I-87 or the Taconic Parkway. Ask the host for exact directions or use GPS. The property has been accessed by helicopter. Stewart Airport is the closest public airport for commercial flights; Dutchess County Airport is the closest private facility.
