Apartment 'La Duna' is located right in the centre and yet quiet. The beautiful sandy beach, which stretches from the village up to Montaña Roja, is only a 3 minutes’ walk away. The apartment has been furnished in Mediterranean style with lots of attention to detail. It has a modern, American kitchen as well as a sleeping and living area to feel comfortable. The pleasant living room features a large plasma TV and an audio tape player/radio with iPod connection. The living room and the bedroom are overlooking the terrace covered in greenery. From here a spiral staircase leads into your private oasis of peace - the large roof-top terrace, offering you a heated whirlpool, an exterior shower and loungers to relax and unwind. A small table on the balcony as well as a bigger dining area on the roof terrace provide for a breakfast in the sunshine.
You will be delighted by the cosy atmosphere and the mild Canarian nights.
The Siam park, Europe's biggest water park, the jungle park, 6 golf courses and the worldwide known Loro park are only some of the highlights worth exploring.
Apartment La Duna in El Médano offers you an excellent starting point for exploring the island and all kinds of sports like wind surfing, kite surfing, surfing, diving, sailing, fishing, golf, mountain biking, horse riding, tennis, go-kart track, whale watching, hiking, climbing and much more.
Also if you are looking for tranquillity and relaxation you can get your money's worth.
For guests who bring their own equipment, there is a store room.
Surf, wind-surf and kite equipment can be hired in the immediate proximity.
There is also a bike rental.
Great location and extremely well appointed apartment, with the added bonus of the completely secluded private roof terrace (with hot tub) which gets the sun all day. Susanne is a super host, and offering to pick us up and take us back to the airport was great, as we didn't have a car. No hesitation in recommending this apartment if you are looking to stay in El Medano
We had a lovely week in this gorgeous apartment - the photos don't do it justice! It is spacious and beautifully decorated. The roof top terrace is fabulous as is the little terrace!
The owners provide a first class service, collecting us from the airport and taking us back, and recommending a brilliant fish restaurant.
El Medano is a small, friendly place with a lovely beach, and a naturist beach within easy walking distance too. Lots of lovely restaurants - look out for the lovely pasta restaurant tucked away in the corner.
Apartment La Duna was first class and perfectly placed to enjoy all that El Medano has to offer. The apartment is spotless and spacious with a large flat screen TV, a comfortable sofa that turns into a double bed and a fully equipped kitchen complete with Nespresso coffee machine. There was a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us beside a fresh yellow rose in a slender vase. The bedroom is a generous size with a huge sliding door wardrobe. The apartment has a Moorish feel and the owner provides candles to add the the mood.
The owner, Doris, a lovely lady, collected us from the airport and at the end of the holiday took us back to catch our flight. She was very helpful and on the way to the apartment gave us a brief tour of the area.
The hot tub on the roof terrace was warm, bubbling and waiting for us.
The roof terrace in February does not get sun all day but there were a couple of hours in the afternoon when it was really sunny.
El Medano is full of character and is a real village, not a purpose built holiday resort. The windsurfers who flock there give the place a character all it's own.
We were made welcome everywhere, even though our surfing days are long gone.
Good restaurants and bars. Friendly people. Recommended highly.

The apartment is really comfy and luxurious and was just as in the description. We really enjoyed our stay here except that it was a bit chilly and therefore we couldn't make full use of the roof terrace (too windy) or the little balcony which didn't have any sun (in February).
The kitchen was lovely as was the coffee machine and everything was clean. The owners were really helpful in that they met us at the airport and we followed them in our car and they even bought us some shopping so our 'fridge wasn't empty'. A very good, caring, customer service. All in all I would recommend a stay here if you don't mind a windy area. The local chinese (1 minute walk) was lovely as were the other few restaurants we tried out in the town.
Also, there was wi-fi which was great and an underground private car park which was handy. There is a large supermarket 3-4 minutes walk away which was great.
Only one negative - the blinds were inadequate if you want darkness/privacy in the bedroom as they let in light and there were no means of shutting it out in the lounge for my daughter who was sleeping on the sofa bed.
Simply said, this is not just a nice apartment, it is a wonderful experience. Delicately decorated, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable chairs and sofa, solid elegant and functional cupboard in the bedroom (containing a very large number of towels for both the beach and the bathroom) . It's all there. The underground garage (opening/closing through remote control ) with a reserved parking place is a great asset as it is difficult (actually impossible) to park a car in the street in El Medano. Finally, the roof terrace with the jacuzzi caters for unforgettable moments. Yet, what makes the real difference (and the experience) is the personal touch brought by the owner Doris who kindly proposed a pick-up at the airport, offered a welcome bottle of Cava with chocolate cake and ... the capsules for the Nespresso machine.
To put it short, this is what I call value for money"
And this is the feedback from my Spanish partner
El ambiente que se respira en el apartamento es muy relajante, tal vez por la luz y los detalles, como la maceta con su linda rosa, las velas colocadas estratégicamente...que te seducen. Realmente confortable.
El Médano, means nothing but sun for 12 months a year with water temperatures which never fall below 19 degrees and often come up to 25 degrees. The former fishing village is a complete swimming and surfing paradise with the most beautiful, finest and longest natural sandy beaches of the island. 'Playa Médano' stretches over 2 km from the village to the 'Montaña Roja', the red mountain. Especially the beach section at the village is ideal for families with children. Here the beach slopes flatly and very far into the sea. Wind and kite surfers are attracted by the Playa Sur beach and in the surf and kite school also beginners can learn the desired sport quickly. Besides the surf schools there are also diving centres where you can gain your diver certification in a short time and then discover the volcanic underwater world in front of El Médano.
Despite the exceptional swimming and water sports conditions, El Médano still has the character of a Spanish village with cosy sea front cafés, small bars with Canarian tapas, outstanding seafood and fresh fish dishes. Every Saturday a weekly market takes place directly on the Plaza. There you will find everything, that you could wish for: from craft-work to textile fabrics.
El Médano is not a touristic main centre. There are many individual tourists, but no mass tourism.
