About the property

Open Loft Cabin, 3 Bedrooms areas 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

If you want remote isolated seclusion and the basics - this is the place for you! The Views are SPECTACULAR!! You can count 54 Mountain peaks on the 180 degree view of the Continental Divide from the big wrap around deck. It is modern (built in 1991) and has a nice cinnamon and sage southwestern Indian décor theme. There are views out every window and it is a great place to spend time being inspired by Mountain grandeur. The area is great, near Cripple Creek Colorado. Home is basic but fun to get back to the old ways and recharge. Discounts are offered if asked.

Just a 10 minute drive to the Historic Gold Rush Town of Cripple Creek, you can enjoy many different restaurants and casinos. This cabin utilizes an open concept design, using room dividers, walls, and lofts, rather than separate bedrooms - with the bathroom being the only totally private room. This is a solar cabin which does have regular 110 electric AC wall plugs. If you feel adventuresome and into a unique new experience - then trying a Solar Cabin can be a great way to get away from it all and enjoy Nature fully! No Smoking, pets Ok, No phone, or cable

Near hiking trails: Florissant National Park, Mueller State Park, Dome Rock Wildlife Refuge, and Pike National Forest. Great seclusion and tremendous views! Large wrapped deck for maximum enjoyment. Excellent hiking west and south. Lots of wildlife.

Cabin Size:

1550 square feet total. 650 top level, 900 midlevel.

Beds and Sleeping:

Sleeps eight. Upstairs, large loft has one queen and two single beds. Downstairs bedroom (semi-private) has one queen bed. Large window seats with cushions provide more sleeping areas; especially suited for children.

One full bath (shower and tub).

Solar electric power. This translates into a need for conservation. The batteries charge whether it is sunny or not, so it is very rare to have low power. It does have a converter for 110V appliances (hair dryers, etc.), but they should be used a minimum of time. A generator is provided for emergency power, but is not necessary unless lights are left on while gone.

Electric and woodstove on brick hearth.

1000 gallon cistern filled from a well.

The pits.

Do not rent this place if you care about your vacation and family. Nothing works properly. If you have a problem, do not expect any help, just excuses from the agent. You can not believe the junk stored in this shack, the wiring is make shift. Hand written notes try to describe instructions to systems. Water system does not work properly. Refrigerator did not work at all, their remedy was to buy ice. The excuse they have for all the problems is , welcome to mountain living.

I rented this house and had nothing but problems with the house and Joyous Vacations. The house is off the grid and the electricity and water did not work for 2 of the days we stayed there. There was no coffee pot so I contacted Joyous Vacations and they authorized the purchase of a coffee pot. I sent them the receipt for reimbursement and they refused. The refrigerator does not work either. I lost food and medicine due to the refrigerator. I asked to reimbursed for the food and was told that Joyous Vacations does not issue refunds. There are no blinds, curtains or any type of window coverings on any windows in this house. The prior renters' trash was still at the house upon my arrival and was there when I left. Remember, this is bear country. They charge a cleaning fee for this house but no one cleans. There is dust on the furnishings, bugs, hair, dirty floors, etc. The BBQ grill does not work either. The walls need painting. The bathroom has a hole in the wall that bugs crawl into the tub through. The neighbor's Siberian Husky came right up to me and growled and I had to scream for help. Joyous Vacations said he's a friendly dog. Please do yourself a favor and rent from another company or individual. I've rented many houses in the Cripple Creek area and have never encountered the problems I did at this shack. This is an old house that they are trying to make money off of without the necessities such as water, electricity, refrigerator, bbq pit, etc. Joyous Vacations does not care about its customers. The view is awesome but the house is a shack where nothing works: the refrigerator, electricity, water, bbq pit. But they now have a coffee pot since I purchased it and was not reimbursed but they might not have electricity to run the coffee pot. I had to deal with all of this while on vacation and it truly affected my vacation. RENT ELSEWHERE.
