has three beautiful cottages:
THE PATIO and THE GARDEN (see #508989)
has been in the Hall family for over 60 years, and is currently owned and operated by Myrtle Hall. Myrtle is German-born and moved to Indian Rocks Beach in 2000 when she married her late husband, Ned. Ned’s grandmother bought the Indian Rocks Beach property in 1946. Ned's father George Hall built the first, two-story building in 1952. The one-story Gulf Cottage followed in 1972. Ned's family lived here in the winter, and spent the summer in Ithaca, NY, where his father was the Golf Coach at Cornell University for over 40 years. Ned followed in his footsteps as a PGA Teaching Professional for over 25 years. He was teaching at the Clearwater Golf Club located in Clearwater, Florida when Myrtle, in Florida on holiday from Germany, met him in 1998. Myrtle and Ned, of course, had their wedding right in front of beautiful Sandy Shores!
Like Ned, Myrtle fell in love with this beautiful property and its rich family history. Ned and Myrtle started to rent out their cottages in 2005 after a complete beautification and enjoyed every minute of sharing this lovely property with their guests. Myrtle carries on the Hall family tradition of hospitality at Sandy Shores and adds her special brand of German warmth. Her attention to detail and cleanliness makes Sandy Shores a unique and charming retreat.
Surf, sand and sun, coupled with quiet solitude, magnificent sunsets, and the shade of the Australian Pines make this the perfect getaway spot. You will enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - perfect for a morning stroll or an afternoon shelling expedition, as well as beautiful-maintained accommodations. Sandy Shores is a slice of Old Florida at it's very finest.

Sandy Shores has been in my late husband, Ned's, family for over 60 years. Ned's Grandmother bought it in 1946 and his Father built the first two story building in 1952 and the Gulf Cottage followed in 1972.
I live onsite so I am available during your stay. I've also worked for 12 years in a local bank. One of the things my guests repeatedly tell me, is that they can see my love for Sandy Shores in the cleanliness and beauty of the property. I take pride in knowing my attention to detail ensures my guests have the most comfortable stay. And, for my German visitors, I enjoy speaking German to help you feel at home.
Myrtle Hall purchased this cottage in 1946
We started to rent out our cottages in 2005 after a total beautification and enjoying ever since every minute of sharing this lovely property with all our guests.
Rest in our secluded gardens, enjoy the shade under our beautiful Australian Pine Trees and watch the Gulf of Mexico and the fantastic sunsets from your living room and dining area. You can't get any closer to the dunes and beach.
The Gulf Cottage was the perfect escape for us ... quiet and very comfortable, with the beautiful beach to greet us every morning. The cottage itself is comfortable, well maintained and charming, and Myrtle is a wonderful, attentive host. We'll be returning for sure!
We stayed here about 6 years ago and absolutely loved it! I got on here to check and see about going back, but it's already booked :( I had forgot to leave a review all those years ago!
We returned this year and enjoyed #4 Gulf Cottage (78339) which offered ALL of the comforts of home along with: private tropical garden, expansive views of dunes, beach and Gulf and a lovely hostess, Myrtle and her sweet dog Abbey.
My husband and I stayed at the golf house beautiful view. The properties are supplied with every thing u could possibly need immaculately clean. Stepps to the beach. Beach chairs , umbrellas etc. Are supplied wonderful resturants within walking distance, or u can drive 1pmin either direction to more resterants. Slyce is directly across the street.brie cheese wheel is fablous as well as the pizza and salad. Chop house on gulf blvd has awesome steaks for seafood salt rock, guppys also.sany shores is a wonderful place to stay and Myrtle and her dog Abby are great hosts. We will be staying over labor day again for 10 days , can hardly wait to visit this little quiet piece of paradise.
Three of us (childhood friends/sisters) stayed in the Gulf Cottage for 4 wonderful nights. Myrtle and Abby greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the cottage and property. Myrtle's property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and all within steps to the beach. Being in the Gulf Cottage, we were able to see the water as soon as we got up in the morning. The gardens were so pretty and quaint, and although the cottages are close because it's a small property, the gardens and paths gave us perfect privacy. Each cottage had its own private seating area and garden. There is a laundry room, storage room with beach chairs and umbrellas to use, outdoor shower to wash sand off our feet, and even a hidden clothes line to hang wet clothing or towels if desired. The Gulf Cottage was just perfect. Myrtle has high quality bath towels, beach towels, bedding, furniture, etc., and there is really nothing we lacked. It was spotless and completely comfortable. Sometimes it's hard to sleep when in a strange place... but not here. We slept soundly. The kitchen was fully stocked, right down to the coolest silverware we ever saw. We had purchased some groceries at Walmart before crossing the bridge into IRB, were able to cook breakfasts and lunches in, and could have gone the entire time without using the rental car. I had been struggling with a health issue and found a walk-in clinic not too far on the other side of the bridge.. just in case anyone needs that information. That was the only reason for using the car. Otherwise, we sat on the beach or walked up and down the beach during the day, watched the sun set every evening, and would then get ready to walk to the restaurant of our choice for dinner. There are several great places to eat; all different, and all within a short walk. We loved Lulu's, Slyce and Crabby Bill's. There was a CVS too with very reasonable prices. Myrtle was very nice and was available for anything we might have needed. This getaway to Sandy Shores was just what my friends and I needed; we felt completely at rest during our stay. Myrtle, we thank you for opening your beautiful cottage to us, and hope that at least one of us gets to return one day soon!!
