Why Jorge Yajure chose Pine Plains
My wife and I enjoy travel in Tuscany and the English Countryside and wanted to live in a similar area near our business in New York City. Pine Plains turned out to be perfect.

Stunning Home, great location
Very much enjoyed this exceptional property and Pine Plains for five nights in July with a group of 8 cyclists. Owner was extreemely helpful welcoming us sharing local information. The house is very well furnished and equipped for groups of any size. the kitchen, dining, porches and outdoor areas are all marvelous and private. The house is museum quality inside and out, a real historic treasure with luxury appointments and modern comforts. Pine Plains was a perfect location for us within easy foodie destinations and great bike riding. Our only regret was not staying longer, there is so much more to see and enjoy in this area.
Quaint Little Upstate NY town not far from Red Hook
We stayed here with family - had all 5 brothers plus friends coming in to get together. We found the house on VRBO and were amazed it would even be rented. The property was what it said and more, beautiful rooms, historic backround and we were able to comfortably sleep all 20+ people that attended the function. One of the most enjoyable places was the front porch, sitting on the rocking chairs. Also looking at the amazing stars at night. If you are wanting city and nightlife, this is not the place, but time to spend with family (not easy to get) in one place, it is awesome and well equipped.
Great Family Reunion at The Pines!
Our family of 15 met from all
corners of the world for a great family reunion at The Pines. The home is beautifully restored and renovated. The rooms are elegant and comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with dishes,
pots, pans, etc. for our large family meals. The location was also a great base to tour all the wonderful sites in the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. Highly recommend!
Gorgeous property- you will be amazed!
This unique and historic property was perfectly maintained and comfortable for our group of 16 adults and 11 children. We felt like we were living in the Downton Abbey house-- the house is accurate to its period, and every detail -- from the wallpaper to the refrigerator (with its wooden doors and wooden shelves!) -- were beautiful and in perfect condition. Everyone was pleased to have their own bathroom, and all of the beds were comfortable.
Before we committed to staying at the house, we were told that breakables and antiques were plentiful throughout the house. Needless to say, we almost cancelled our reservation because of the kids. While it was true that there were some large vases and delicate (gorgeous!) light fixtures, we didn't feel that we had to tiptoe around the house. Our children, ranging in age from 8 months to 9 years old, did not come close to breaking anything, which was a relief, but also not surprising given how the house is set up.
Some of the rooms on VRBO aren't pictured. The kitchen has a table that fits 6-8 people where the kids ate their meals (and drew pictures); there's a game room with a couple of couches, a cozy (gorgeous!) library room (also with cozy seating), and a piano room. The dining room was large and fancy, but comfortable for our large group.
The property manager and the owner were responsive to our needs (one of the heaters needed fixing while we were there) and pleasant to interact with. Oh- and huge bonus! There was enough illy espresso for everyone to enjoy all weekend! Thank you!!
Overall, our friends were so impressed that we're already talking about booking again in the future.
Wonderful venue for Thanksgiving
My extended family of 17 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Pines for five days over Thanksgiving week. The house has been lovingly decorated in the old style. The common rooms and bedrooms were spacious; the beds were comfortable; the linens were high quality; and toiletries were provided.
The kitchen was very well-stocked for cooking our Thanksgiving's and other meals - plenty of room in the awesome icebox refrigerator and lots of oven space. We never ran out of cooking gear, dinnerware and flatware, glasses, wine glasses, and cloth napkins for our meals. The house is wonderfully set-up for entertaining.
I would highly recommend The Pines for any big and unique family/friend event.
Thank you very much Mia, we are so delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay at our property and that you and your family had a great time together for Thanksgiving. We would love to see you and your family back in the not so distant future. We wish you the best for the rest of the holiday season.
Stunning and perfect birthday weekend
We hosted 28 family and friends for our 60th birthday over a beautiful fall weekend. Melissa (the manager) was exceptionally helpful in organizing our plans and connecting us to Liz, who worked tirelessly the whole weekend. The kitchen is enormous and fabulously equipped, so we were able to prepare and serve meals for everyone (including china, wine goblets and flatware for everyone). There are four absolutely stunning bedrooms on the second floor, and a fifth with an extra sitting area, all of which have private bathrooms. On the third floor, there are additional bedrooms, not quite as stunning but certainly lovely, some with twin beds instead of doubles, so good for singles or children. The ground floor rooms, and the porches and grounds were lovely and inviting. Jorge arranged for the piano to be tuned so that we could enjoy a mini-concert in the music room. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful or memorable experience.
The Pines is located 2 hours north of New York City in bucolic horse country just east of the Hudson River and west of the Massachusetts Berkshires mountains. The area is known for world class hunting, equestrian events, polo, hiking, antiquing and scenic country drives. Like Tuscany and the English Countryside, it is a center for organic farming and artisanal foods. It is a perfect location for a country vacation, wedding, family reunion, hunting excursion or foodie getaway.
