773 Square Foot 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, With Olive Orchard Views
About Eric Kaltenbach
Having traveled extensively for business and pleasure, Eric and Candice know how to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome. Their goal is to create an atmosphere of relaxation while creating the ambiance of stepping into a Tuscan country cottage. Although Eric spent years in the corporate world, his passions include gourmet cooking, fine wine, music, landscape photography and spending time with his wife of 27 years, Candice. Candice, who retired a number of years ago, was an accomplished hair stylist with an impressive client list. She was also part of a well-known auto dealer family dynasty in Orange County California. The Auto Group was sold in 2014. Candice loves style, design, cooking with Eric and reading a good novel on the veranda overlooking the olive orchard.
Eric Kaltenbach purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Eric Kaltenbach chose Paso Robles
We purchased this property to have an opportunity to make some of the finest extra virgin olive oil in California. And, to share a piece of this beautiful country estate with our guests. We love the Tuscan architecture, the location on a High Ridge, and the views of vineyards in the distance looking over the olive orchard. We truly feel that we are living in Tuscany every day!
What makes this Cottage unique
The views are amazing. Actually the cottage has better city lights views at night than the main house. No matter the outside air temperature, you will find yourself hanging out on the veranda. The sunsets are super great. There are lots of birds including quail, owls, and hawks. Deer roam nearby in the late afternoon.

More than cozy
The cottage was as advertised. The view was lovely and we never wanted to leave the veranda.
This was a wonderful place to stay! The cottage was beautiful, clean & perfect for 2! It has a gorgeous view from both the living room and bedroom. Nice patio to watch the sunsets! The owners are super nice & provide wonderful breakfast goodies, coffee, olive oil & even a bottle of wine! Highly recommend!!
Another fantastic stay with Alta Cresta
This was our second stay at Alta Cresta and it was just as amazing as our first. This place is charming, very clean, easy to get to, and the extra's provided are such a beautiful touch. I promise you that you will not be disappointed with this location and home and hosts. I rate all of them an A+. Eric went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. I would book it now before it gets snatched up. We will be back soon.
Beautiful cottage, location superb, quiet, and very clean. Loved & appreciated every moment there.
We enjoyed every second of our stay at this lovely cottage. It was by far the the best experience we've ever had with renting any property. We will be returning as often as possible.
Paso Robles Perfection.
I can't say enough good things about Alta Cresta. The pictures provided don't do it justice. The owners Eric and Candice were fantastic hosts. Incredibly fast response time and gave perfect directions as well spot on recommendations for different wineries based on your favorite type wines to try and explore. The Tuscany style villa is spotless and beautifully appointed with a fully stocked kitchen, a comfortable cozy bed and large bathroom with robes( great touch) and everything you need. The welcome basket of their very own produced Alta Cresta Award Winning Olive oil as well as bread and a bottle of their own produced red wine plus pastries for breakfast was such a nice touch. The villa is spotless and out door dining is a must for breakfast lunch or dinner or just drinks on the patio to take in sunrise or sunset overlooking their olive vineyards straight to the mountains. It was a beautiful place to stay. Its only a 10 min drive to town and short drive to a grocery store to stock up. It is romantic and so comfortable and highly recommended.
Just the best
We had never really wanted to go to Tuscany because of the long flight there. Alta Cresta Cottage in Paso Robles is a magnificent substitute. The rolling hills, the vineyards, the olive orchard, and the cottage all combined to make a wonderful experience.
Eric and Candace were wonderful hosts. And they make great olive oils, soaps and wine. We would return in a heartbeat.
There are over 250 wineries in the greater Paso Robles area. Many wineries offer wine tasting, some for a fee, and many have nice picnic areas. Downtown Paso has great restaurants that are just a few minutes away. Bring your sports car and enjoy the great country roads around the Central Coast.
