A great spot
The apartment is modern, clean, and very comfortable and attractive. The large complex it's in has wonderful amenities available if you have time for them--a saltwater pool, three gyms to choose from, a small playground and dog park, and a walking/jogging path with a parcours-type circuit. The property is beautifully landscaped and has abundant green space on two sides. A busy street runs across the front, and on the fourth side It's next door to a Walmart and Sam's Club for quick pickup of anything you might need. The apartment is on the Walmart side, which is convenient because after check-in the parking for the apartment is at the edge of the Walmart lot.
My daughters and I came to Secaucus with two dogs for a family gathering and spent the weekend. We like to cook when we get together. There is seating for 4 at the kitchen island and for 5 in the living area, and the kitchen has nice, new appliances. This would be a great place for a small, informal dinner party except that the kitchen is so poorly equipped for cooking and entertaining. If that doesn't matter to you, you might give the place 5 stars instead of 4. I had brought a dinner to prepare and bottles of wine to go with it, and found on arrival that were no wine glasses, no corkscrew, no kitchen knives for chopping and slicing, and no serving bowls or platters. The people in the leasing office lent us their happy-hour corkscrew that evening, and were consistently wonderful to deal with on other questions.
There are not 2 king beds as advertised, but 1 king and 1 queen. We didn't find the place too noisy for sleeping as another reviewer has said. I had brought ear plugs because of that review but didn't need them. The larger bedroom is quite bright at night from the outdoor lighting; if that bothers you, bring eyeshades.
I would definitely stay there again if another event brought me to Secaucus and would just bring my own stuff for meal preparation and serving. Everything else about the place is wonderful!
Poor check in process and disruptive odors
Key was not available upon check in on more than one occasion. Strong tobacco and marijuana odor and we have a toddler. Apartment is located at the corner of very busy street so sleep is difficult for children and adults.
Incredible location for visiting Manhattan
This condo is located within walking distance of a grocery store (Walmart), several restaurants, a movie theater, and a NJ Transit bus stop. We took the bus into Port Authority Bus Terminal, and when traveling outside of rush hour, the trip was less than 20 minutes. Buses return from PABT to the Plaza bus stop until after midnight, making this location ideal. We loved that we could park our vehicle and leave it while we used public transit to see NYC.
The condo is new, clean, and beautiful. Walls of windows let in light even on rainy days, and the kitchen is stocked with basic kitchen tools and dishes. One thing to note is that one of the Meadowlands concert venues is right across the street, so some nights you may hear the bass from a show (we only heard it Saturday night). It wasn't disruptive to our sleep at all.
While our stay got off to a rough start (we couldn't find parking at first and had to call for help accessing the unit key), the staff and security personnel at the Harper were responsive and helpful. They helped us find a place to park our vehicle where it wouldn't be towed and locate the key so we could get unpacked and rest after our long drive.
Great alternative to the city
Huge new apartment in quiet area. Convenient to city (you will spend the savings in uner fare tho😪). Great for larger groups not going for the typical tourist trip. Would def stay again.
