Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This is a quiet lakeside cottage located on a fenced 2 acre lot. The original structure was built in 1927 by J. L. Burgie and has remained in the family ever since. Extensively remodeled in 2000, our lake house is a perfect retreat from the pressures of the city. A private pier (not child proof) and concrete boat ramp provide easy lake access. Even in the winter the sunroom is perfect for reading, writing or just contemplating the sun setting over the lake. For warmer days relax on the screened in porch.

Horseshoe Lake provides excellent fishing, and many kinds of birds and other wildlife may be seen near the house, depending on the time of year, including white pelicans, great egrets, bald eagles, barred owls, orioles, cormorants, and warblers. The Cache River Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, where the ivory-billed woodpecker was recently spotted, is within about an hour's drive.

Southern Style

  • 4 of 5

This was a great little retreat for us coming from Wyoming and have never been to Arkansas before. Very small town atmosphere and love the little store down the way, where we had breakfast and BBQ. The house was large with lots of space and right on the water with it's own dock. We sat in the very shady yard and watched the turtles peak there heads up out of the water as the boaters would go by. For an older style home this fit our needs. We appreciate the hospitality.

Very quiet and charming!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for one night and everything was very nice! I love the open space in the kitchen and dining area and the rooms were very comfortable! The best was the view and the lake right in the backyard!! We are planning another trip to the area and would love to stay here again!

Perfect Lake Location with Short Drive to Memphis, TN

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed your lake house. The rooms were large, the furnishings were plentiful and comfortable. We had way more space than was needed for 5 adults. We will be renting this lake house again! The yard is huge, this has to be a double or triple lot. The lake is only steps away. My sister fished from the retaining wall on the lake and from the private pier - all while having the luxury of your house just steps away from you at all times. Bring your lawn chairs and make the most of being right on the lake. A friend owns a house on this lake and he recommended that we rent this house out of the handful that are available for renting. He was right, this is a great house and a great location. I'm looking forward to bringing some kids with us next time so that they can swim and make use of the swim platform. It's on the lake, there are bugs, deal with it or go stay in the big city. I can not adequately express how much fun we had at this lake house. There was plenty of room in the house for us to just mingle and lounge, views of the lake while inside, lovely yard to sit in and watch the sun set on the lake, quite-slow-passed area. Be sure to stop in at Bonds convenience store as they know everything and everyone. Also grab a meal or an adult beverage at Camp Carefree. Plan some trips into Memphis. You will love this gem as much as we did.

Family fun

  • 4 of 5

I very much enjoyed our stay! It had everything needed for our needs! We didn't cook but of we wanted to it had everything to do so. It was a bit dated but in my opinion just character! Would love to have know some information about the map that had the push pins in it! I loved the fact that I could just get up and walk out the door and go fish from the bank or off the pier! I can't wait till the next time we can't get back and we are already talking about when we can make that work! It was just a short drive to attractions and groceries or restaurants. We tried Central Barbaque and it was very good! The local quick shop Bonds was handy for me to pick up my non resident fishing license and some bait! They were very friendly as well! Thank you for allowing us a spur of the moment additional night so I could get a good day of fishing in! Yvonne Lahoma, Oklahoma
