3 King Suites + Queen Loft, 3.5 Baths, Mountain Views, Private Dock-Sun Valley
About Kim Vincent
Recently celebrating their 30th year of marriage, Kim and Mike strive to provide a top-notch destination for their guests. Several travelers have correctly guessed our engineering backgrounds based on our carefully labeled individual binders cataloguing available hikes, snowmobile trails, biking, fishing, boating, wildlife viewing, and dining opportunities - in addition to numerous tips about the home and local area. We hope we've achieved the proper balance of a casual, comfortable home combined with some nice, luxurious upgrades.
Kim Vincent purchased this House in 2015
Why Kim Vincent chose Grand Lake
We specifically selected this property for its prime location, lake access, and unique floorplan with three king suites. This allows three couples traveling together to each have beautiful, comfortable, and private accommodations. No couple gets demoted to the "bunk room" when three couples travel together! The proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, the amenities of Grand Lake, and the multi-use trail system throughout surrounding Arapahoe National Forest make it an unrivaled destination. Although this house is rather new (built in 2007), we've added many enhancements since our purchase in 2015. Because most of our renters are returning guests, we would like to list a few of the improvements you will find on your next visit: The loft has been expanded and now offers a queen bed. No more sofabed! Additional tongue-and-groove ceilings through the kitchen and dining room improve the cozy setting. An on-demand hot water heater has been installed, allowing continuous hot water. We completely reroofed the home in 2017 to eliminate drafts and improve energy efficiency. Two steam showers, two gas fireplaces and bed heaters ensure a warm and cozy trip! A small sandy beach was created next to the dock, allowing easy access for kayaks and paddleboards. An upgraded AV sound system has been installed in the main living area to improve your movie and sports-viewing experience. Unlimited high speed internet is provided (DSL typically provides 12 to 20 mbps, sufficient to access videos, music, email, etc). Guests now have exclusive use of a dumpster for refuse at the top of our driveway. In addition to the rowboat and pedal boat, we've added two kayaks and two paddleboards to keep you busy on the lake. Umbrellas on the dining table and over the child's sand box are provided for shade on a sunny day. A propane firepit has been installed and is available for use in the summer.
What makes this House unique
The setting is truly unique - located on a peninsula within a tranquil private lake with excellent trout fishing. Yet we are adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, providing far more hiking and sightseeing opportunities than you can fit into a summer. For more active boating opportunities, the largest natural lake in Colorado (Grand Lake) and the second largest body of water in Colorado (Lake Granby) are within 7 and 20 minute drives, providing opportunities to catch and keep Mackinaw, rainbow, brown trout and even kokanee salmon. Sail boats, pontoon boats, jet skis, kayaks, water skiing and other activities abound in the "Three Lakes" district. The Lake Granby Yacht Club is regarded as one of the highest in the world at 8280 feet. Our high elevation water is a bit cool for some waterskiing guests from hot climates, and you will see wetsuits on some wakeboarders, tubers, and jet skiers. But you will also see many of our locals and northern guests enjoy the water in common swim suits. If water isn't your thing, the wildlife viewing is incredible in this part of the country, and near our home specifically. Moose, elk, fox, and otter visit often and seasonally, you will be amazed by the number of humming birds, osprey, and even the occasional Bald Eagles that have adopted our lake. Please let us know if anyone in your group has peanut allergies. We leave a supply of peanuts in an airtight container that guests can use to feed the Stellar Bluejays. However, we will remove these in advance of your rental if notified. If you are a dog-lover, our notebooks index dozens of dog-friendly trails, for either a summer hike, a mountain bike ride, or a winter cross-country or snowshoe trip. If you prefer solitude, we have a list of our favorite quiet hikes. Our area is an outdoor paradise, but sometimes guests comment that the best part of their trip was relaxing with family, playing games, doing puzzles and drinking hot chocolate surrounded by spectacular views
