About the property

3 bedroom + loft sleeping with breathtaking views, infinity pool and great surf

Hacienda del Mar is the perfect place to to get away from the grind and connect with nature. From your hammock or infinity pool, enjoy the vistas of the ocean, the volcanos in the distance, and the hundreds of tropical birds all around.

Hacienda del Mar was rehabbed from a 50+ year-old cotton barn, keeping the integrity of the original rustic design structure yet adding modern and updated features. The house and has all the conveniences you need such as WiFi, air conditioning in two bedrooms, brand new comfortable beds and linens, and a fully equipped "cooks" kitchen.

There is an upper loft area, a catwalk around the entire upper level of the house, and large wrap around porch with 4 hammocks, 4 lounge chairs and plenty of hang out space. There is an additional outside cooking area with a charcoal and propane grill, sink and plenty of counter space and bar.

There are 3 bedrooms in total; two bedrooms have A/C, comfortable King size beds, a desk, a closet with shelving for clothing, and an ensuite bathroom in each. There is an additional half bath, and an outside shower - originally an old grain silo made out of a giant tree trunk!

The third bedroom is a small room, with a twin-size bed, and night stand. The room has a fan, and if you leave the door to the adjoining bedroom open, the AC unit in the master, cools down that room as well. There is a door joining the two bedrooms, and it also has a door to the living room.

The whole upper level is a loft with beautiful wide planked hardwood floors. There are 3 beds, (2 queen, 1 full) and fans, but we have not included it as a "bedroom" because of lack of privacy.

The home sits on 9 acres of land, that leads down to the beach. From the house to the beach is just a 400 meter walk down the driveway. The property is full of fruit trees for you to enjoy - limes, sour oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, passion fruit, dragon fruit, guava, mangos, cashew and avocado!

Northern Nicaragua is an adventurer's paradise. Kayak in one of the largest protected Estuaries in the country, hike enchanting volcanoes, surf uncrowded waves, or go horseback riding down pristine beaches. We can arrange fishing trips, at home massages, pedicures and more!

There are a handful of restaurants in the area if you don't feel like cooking, or we can arrange help with meal preparation for a small fee. Also, daily housekeeping is included (except for sundays).

Relax, surf uncrowded waves, swim at secluded beaches and enjoy the pristine beauty and authenticity of Northern Nicaragua!

About Brooke Clark

My husband and I met in San Francisco and moved to Nicaragua in 2006, and since have made it our home. We live in Leon, with our 6 year old daughter, and have a real estate business, Aurora Leon Realty. Our "Beach Barn" was a passion project, and when its not being rented, we enjoy it on the weekends. Its our "second baby" as the first tree was planted just days after our daughter was born.

We are dedicated to making your stay as enjoyable as possible, and hopefully you will come away from your vacation loving Nicaragua as much as we do!

Brooke Clark purchased this house in 2011

Why Brooke Clark chose Chinandega Department

We have owned several properties in Nicaragua since moving here in 2006, but none struck a chord with us as much as the house and land. Perhaps its because we took our time building it, or because it has so much history locked away in the wood, but each morning while we drink our coffee, watch the ocean and the birds, we couldn't be more at peace. We feel part of the community and feel blessed that the beach is our daughter's playground.

What makes this house unique

I think one of the things we love most about our beach house, is that it connects you with nature immediately. The sound of the ocean, the views of the volcanoes in the distance, and the birds and flowers all allow you to turn off the mental chatter. Whether its swimming, surfing, checking out tide pools, strolling through the property or relaxing in a hammock taking in the views, you will come away feeling refreshed and renewed.

Manzano #2

Manzano Dos is a small, hard-working rural community, mainly agricultural or fishing based. We have been a part of the community for over 5 years, and have lived in Nicaragua for over 10. The beach in front of our house is one of the longest, flattest most beautiful beaches in the country, and during low tide, you can even drive to Jiquilillo or Padro Ramos Estuary. Because of the slope, or lack thereof, the beach is great for swimming, and on larger swell days, surfing. Padre Ramos Estuary is a huge nature sactuary - a bird watchers delight! Tour the estuary in a kayak, or cruise around the estuary in a boat. In the distance, you can see (and hike!) volcanos, and even on a clear day, you can see the Golf of Fonseca. There are several surf spots in the area, and if you are interested, we can give you a detailed list. There is a full scale Marina just 15-20 minutes away - where you can rent fishing a fishing boat or enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner. Apart from the Marina, there are a handful of restaurants around, one even serves up delicious thin crust pizza and it's only a 10 minute drive from the house.

Chinandega is only 45 minutes away, with more restaurants and supermarkets available. Leon, the cultral capital of Nicaragua is only 1.5 hours away, and offers plenty of architectural sightseeing, and diverse restaurants as well.

Fabulous getaway on Pacific ocean

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week with friends! Amazing experience. Beautiful weather, house, pool and right on the Pacific ocean. Brooke helped with any concerns or plan arrangements. We are going back next year!

a rare gem.

  • 5 of 5

perched on a hilltop overlooking the farm and the pacific horizon, hacienda del mar is a unique treasure. the thoughtful blend of industrial design and local craftsmanship provides modern comforts and amenities, with breathtaking views and immediate access to natural wonders.

nestled in a local farming and fishing community, you'll find stretches of undeveloped beach, tide pools and epic sunsets, along with active adventures for those who seek them. we kayaked through an estuary and hiked the cosiguina volcano, balancing it all with coffee and cocktails on the sweeping porch, serene afternoons on the beach, and jaw dropping sunsets and stargazing each evening.

this was our first time to nicaragua and the owners, brooke and jordan, were more than gracious with their guidance and assistance. from preparing us for our arrival, to planning excursions, to orchestrating the delivery of fresh fish, they truly went above and beyond.

hacienda del mar is truly a unique treasure, and we hope to be lucky enough to return again in the near future.

Extraordinary Gem

  • 5 of 5

The usual question I ask myself when looking at a property is, " Is this a place I would enjoy having friends and family over for a visit"? For Hacienda Del Mar I would rephrase the question, "Are my friends and family savvy and sophisticated enough to appreciate this architectural gem"? Fortunately the answer is yes. Our group of six were in awe of Hacienda Del Mar.

I second all the glowing reviews you see here.

way beyond expectations

  • 5 of 5

As a family of 7 (2parents, 3 teenagers, 2children) vacationing for 2 weeks at Hacienda del Mar, each one of us found that every aspect about the house (inside and out), the land (gardens and beach), and the owners, way exceeded expectations. The house is huge and beautiful, impeccably clean, surprisingly breezy and cool, equipped with a complete kitchen for accomplished cooks, comprised of bed and linens of supreme confort. The wrap around balcony, hammocks and outdoor kitchen are in of themselves a complete rental of which the view (ocean, volcanoes, sunset, stars) is absolutely breathtaking !! The land is a fruit lover's dream come true. The caretakers cook (if hired to), clean, and are available for all errands (for a reasonable price) and issues, and are most pleasant. The beach is infinite, and we met people on it only 1 of the 14 days we were there. The community is tranquil and friendly. The unpaved/off road of the last few kms insures perfect tranquility. The owners (and their 2 dogs) are FANTASTIC and responded promptly, clearly, and in detail, to every question/need that arose. I've only hesitated about writing this review by selfish worry that it will very soon be perpetually booked and unavailable when we will want to come back ! (p.s. those looking for TV evenings, heavy internet streaming, dishwasher/clothes dryer, smooth road access, and shopping, should abstain)

Wonderful house, prime location, near the beach

  • 5 of 5

We spent some very nice days in Hacienda del Mar. It was a fabulous stay. We enjoyed the house, its surroundings and the hospitality. I must say we were truly impressed by the design of the house, the location, the nature, the people and how the owner took care of things.

Our son and daughter loved the area so much that they changed their plans and decided to stay for some more surfing instead of going to San Juan del Sur.

Tropical modern beach house

  • 5 of 5

We totally loved this beach house. Beautiful industrial design, furnished with locally crafted teak furniture. The wrap porch was awesome for coffee each morning and wine in the evening. The view of the beach and sunset is amazing. It is a bit off the beaten path, but you get to see local Nicaragua culture. We took a local fishing boat trip out of the marina. El Cielo is great for pizza and beer.
