About Mark

I am a Presbyterian pastor. Our family discovered this property in 2001 and fell in love with its rugged, wooded beauty and the expansive beach. The sound is mesmerizing. We built our home primarily as our getaway but we 'share' it with what we hope will be a growing list of return guests who find it to be as unique and special as we do. John Wayne once tried to buy this property. If it's good enough for the 'Duke'....you'll love it.

Mark purchased this house in 2003

Why Mark chose Olympic Peninsula

We looked up and down the coast but couldn't find anything that provided the privacy and beauty that matched Moclips. The forest, the elevation, the vast, unspoiled and sparsely populated beaches made this 'our' place.

The house sets on a cliff with a wonderful view and nice backyard fireplace.

I liked the location of the home and the view . The fire pit was a plus for us. Bring your own wood. The photos were a bit deceiving I thought that there were stairs from the residence to the beach, those stairs shown are not on the premises. It is a quick trip by car to the beach and also nice to be so close to a convenient store. The house was nice . I found the king beds to be very comfortable quality mattress. The bunk beds are really meant for a child. The crosses on the walls were a lovely touch. The showers were awesome! Now I did not find the place spotless . First thing I noticed was the dirty oven downstairs and crumbs upstairs. They should have throw rugs inside the doors . I felt like they could have used a few more blankets to make up the beds. With nice blankets only $12.00 at Costco a few would have been nice. I think they could for a little money give it a bit more character. Nice home, nice location just missing the warmth.

Healing ocean getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and well cared for home with gorgeous views and in the most magical location. The owners were all very helpful and timely with help when we needed it, and did everything they could to make sure we had a smooth visit. Great place that I'd definitely go back to for big group gatherings!

Beautiful, Well Kept and Clean with an Unbeatable VIEW!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this property and we will be back! It is a gorgeous home, very well kept and clean. The property is secluded and quiet with an unbeatable view. Great outdoor fire pit, lovely porches all of which are perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean. Plenty of room for a large family and nicely stocked with linens, towels and kitchen supplies. Highly recommend!

Great Family Home

  • 5 of 5

This past Thanksgiving my family and I needed a home that was large enough for the entire group. The home is beautiful and the views were wonderful. We rented both homes and we're glad cause we needed both kitchens for our Thanksgiving dinner. The location was great , just a 2 min ride to the beach. Though cold, it was sunny every day. Sunsets were amazing. Grandkids were very sad to leave. For me, there is nothing better than the sound of ocean waves and ocean views. And this home has it all!

Best location for large family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This home sits above a beautiful section of the Washington Coastline. My family came together from four different states to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday! All of us adults stayed outside as much as possible to soak in the sunshine and the great ocean breezes. I admit, this was the best weather I have ever experienced at the coast, so we were lucky! The outside seating areas (along with plastic lawn chairs provided by the owners) and the fire pit accommodated all of us (11) at one time. We used the "Weber" style charcoal grill for cooking a dinner (*be sure to bring briquettes--we lucked out with some that were left at the house--thanks!). The kitchens are fairly well stocked with necessary dishes, pans and utensils. The house was clean when we arrived--always a plus when renting a vacation home and the grounds are well maintained. It was easy to walk to "The Ocean Crest" resort and use their stairs to get to the beach. A very user friendly place to vacation overall. The only "knock" I will give it is the furniture; it isn't very comfortable, especially the upstairs sofa. The televisions are basic, but we didn't go to the beach to watch TV! We all agreed that we would like to rent this home again. At the end of the day, it is location, location, location!
