Overview

About the property

Kinsale, Ardbrack Heights, waterfront, large balcony 2 double bedrooms

This wonderfully sunny holiday apartment is located in Kinsale's prestigious Ardbrack Heights in the village of Scilly, a ten-minute walk outside the town of Kinsale. The huge floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall windows allow amazing sea views from the master bedroom (breakfast in bed with a sea view!) and the entire sitting room/dining area. Outside, the sheltered balcony, which runs the entire width of the accommodation, is perfect for a relaxing drink whilst watching the sunset or the busy harbour activity.

The two bedrooms sleep four comfortably and the newly refurbished modern kitchen is fully fitted and ideal for a self catering holiday.

The only sounds you can hear from this property are on the water or the bird song, yet a short ten-minute stroll brings you into Kinsale centre. Kinsale is a popular holiday resort for Irish and foreign tourists which is known for its many gourmet restaurants and excellent leisure activities including yachting, sea angling, and golf.

Kinsale - sedate: Not only does this town lay claim to being the oldest town in Ireland, but it is also renowned internationally for the number and quality of restaurants in the town. It is hailed as the gourmet capital of Ireland, with no shortage of pubs and restaurants to suit every taste. However relaxed or active you wish to be on your holiday Kinsale allows you to take things at your own pace.

Kinsale - Active: Sailing, Harbour Trips, Fishing and whale watching, Golf, Horse Riding, Shooting, Archery, Paintball, Windsurfing and water sports - Walking and Historical Visits - Museums and Forts Leisure - Pottery Workshops - Readings - Taxi and bus tours.

Kinsale History: The Battle of Kinsale, fought in 1601 between a combined Spanish, an Irish force and English armies, was a turning point in Irish history. The harbour is guarded by two very fine star-shaped fortresses built in the 17th century: Charles Fort is well worth a visit (guided tours). See also the old Courthouse, now a museum; St Multose Church, built in the 13th century and still in use, and 'French Prison', the 16th century Desmond Castle. There is a signposted tourist trail to this fascinating town with a guide booklet. Take a trip too to the Old Head of Kinsale for magnificent cliff scenery. It was off here that the Lusitania was sunk in 1915 with a loss of over 1,500 lives.

Lovely flat. Amazing views. Great location

I stayed here with my sister for a weekend. The flat was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. The view across the harbour is just amazing and really makes the flat. I found the host very easy to contact and helpful. Overall a great stay! Would definitely come back

this apartment has the most incredible views, large airy rooms and a very responsive owner

  • 3 of 5

My friend and I loved Kinsale and the fabulous view of the apartment. I would give it five stars if the furnishings were slightly more updated and comfortable. The rooms are bright and airy so a larger couch and at least one chair would fit. There is currently just a love seat with two bean bags that only a child could sit in. Everything is refrigerator white. The apartment is walking distance to everything. We loved the location. There are quite a few steps so getting luggage in and out of the apartment could be difficult for some. The owner was very helpful even though she was out of town

We didn't want to come in from the balcony!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely apartment! It is clean, appointed well, and Minnie even had some items in the fridge to welcome us. All pertinent information and Kinsale recommendations are in a binder that was very helpful.

The location is exceptional, across the river from Kinsale, and is a reasonable walk to town and other locations, such as Summer Cove and Charles Fort. I don't think you can beat this view.

Minnie responded quickly whenever we contacted her which helped to make our visit even more special. We'll be back.

Fabulous with amazing views

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful apartment with amazing views and there's always something to watch - the balcony is perfect for a few drinks in the evening. It has a comfortable bed, again with a view that makes you not want to get up - there is another bedroom without views. The shower room has a good shower and a heated floor, a nice treat in Winter I'm sure. The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials although I can't remember seeing oil, if you're going to cook in - we didn't.

The walk into the centre takes about 10 minutes but longer coming back as its a long haul uphill but no problem if you're fit. The Spaniard is the nearest bar/restaurant and is very good. Man Friday is close to the Spaniard but is a restaurant I prefer in Winter as it gets too crowded in a good summer. Bulmans on the way to Charles Fort is also a great bar/restaurant. We had great meals in Bastion and in Max's, a good meal in Jim Edwards but we found Finn's Table disappointing this time. Best to book for all restaurants.

There is a large waste bin where cars park which operates with a key and holds anything it seems without any thought of recycling. If you are a mad recycler, there is a large recycling centre on the way out of town past the Supervalu store on the R605. The Supervalu store is excellent.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to this apartment when we next hit Kinsale.

Comfortable apartment with fabulous views and a great base to explore Kinsale.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this apartment. Minnie is very efficient and very pleasant so it's easy to organise a great break in Kinsale - you won't be disappointed. The apartment is well equipped -though the furniture could probably to with updating. There are a few flights to steps to negotiate to access the apartment, so not ideal for those with young toddlers or with mobility issues but on the plus side there is easy parking - a real premium in Kinsale during the summer, and spectacular views from the balcony - just have a look at the pics. We had another great holiday at Ardbrack Heights and will definitely return. Thanks Minnie!
