Luxury two room waterfront apartment (2nd floor) in the center of Amsterdam. Between the vibrant ‘Leidse Square’ (the heart of Amsterdam) and the chic ‘Spiegelgracht’, a canal street with numerous antique shops.

LAY-OUT: Charming canal-house style entrance. Well appointed living room with open kitchen and floor to ceiling doors which open onto a balcony which enjoys superb views over the canal. Flat screen Sat-TV and free wireless internet. New kitchen with oven/cook top with 4 gas burners, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine etc. Separate bedroom with double bed. Spacious/luxurious bathroom with double basin and shower, separate toilet. Laundromat and laundry sevice nearby.

LOCATION: Apartment ‘Cityhome’ has the ideal location for anybody who loves the city, but at the same time also wants to get a good night rest as well. Literally a stone’s throw away from the ‘Rijksmuseum’ which houses the famous painting ‘Nightwatch’, Leidse Square with its gorgeous City Theatre and just walking distance from the ‘Vondelpark’ and the ‘P.C. hoofdstraat’ (shopping district). You won’t want for a better location than this!

ATTRACTIONS AMSTERDAM: There are so many to mention: Leidse Square, Kalverstraat and P.C. Hoofdstraat (shopping), Jordaan with its ‘Negen straatjes’ (old district), Madame Tussauds, Vondelpark, Anne Frank House, Sex museum, Red light district, Van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum, Palace on Dam square, New Church, ‘Albert Cuyp’ market, ‘Waterloop’ Square (jumble sale), ‘Beurs van Berlage’ (exchange market) etc. etc. A great way to see Amsterdam is from the water with the hop-on, hop off canal tour, which takes you through all the famous canals with its monumental houses and allows you to hop off at 20 different points and visit Amsterdam’s most famous attractions.

GETTING THERE: The tram stop is just around the corner from your apartment and the 1, 2 or 5 trams take you directly to central station in approx 10 min. From Amsterdam Central Station you can reach Schiphol Airport in 10 minutes by train. By car you can reach the apartment via the ‘Overtoom’ or the ‘Stadshouderkade’ from the ring highway A10 very simply. We recommend that you park your car at Q-park at the ‘Lelylaan’ Station (max. € 8,55 per day) and then take tram number 1 to the apartment (exiting at the Leidse Square), allowing your car to be parked safely and inexpensively.

Comfortable Apartment in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from one week in this apartment, I can recommend it highly to couples or solo travelers looking for a place in Amsterdam. First, the location, along the Lijbaansgracht between Leidseplein and the Rijksmuseum, is excellent. You can walk easily to a remarkable number of museums and parks; tram and bus stops are a couple minutes away, too. Second, my wife and I found the apartment comfortable: the heating worked well, the bedroom was dark and (mostly) quiet, there was plenty of hot water in the shower, and the double sink in the bathroom was useful for a couple getting ready in the morning. The living/dining room/kitchen area faces the canal and gets beautiful light through the big windows; the small balcony is a delightful feature. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, plates and dishes, and cutlery. We had everything we needed to cook and enjoy meals. Lots of storage space is available in the bedroom closet, which has plenty of hangers. The place was very clean when we checked in, and the owner's agent met us exactly when she said she would and was very helpful. Here are two things you need to know about the apartment. (1) To get to it, you must climb two flights of very steep, narrow steps. We found that charming, but not everyone might feel the same. (2) The upstairs neighbors have a child who bounds around their apartment in the evenings, throws balls against the walls, etc. We're used to living in city apartments, so it didn't bother us, but if this is something that will drive you crazy, don't rent this place. We had no trouble sleeping on weeknights, but we were awakened on Saturday night at around midnight by a loud party upstairs. Despite that, we still give the apartment a five-star rating for all the good stuff. A few recommendations: For groceries, go to Albert Heijn on Vijzelstraat near Prinsengracht or on Van Baerlestraat near the Stedelijk Museum. For rijsttafel, try Puri Mas, Lange Leidsedwarsstraat 37-41. The Pancake Corner at the end of the block (Kleine Gartmanplantsoen 51) is worth a visit. If you're there on a Sunday, check out the afternoon concerts at the Concertgebouw and ask for seats behind the orchestra in the Great Hall--one of the highlights of our trip. In sum, we had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Amsterdam and we recommend it with enthusiasm.

Lovely apartment, great location

  • 5 of 5

My teenage daughter and I stayed here for 4 days June 2016. The apartment is in a great location - a quiet canal, but close to lively Leidseplein and very close to museums. At Leidseplein, you can catch several trams that take you down the central spine of Amsterdam directly to central station, though not too far to walk either. The apartment looks just like the pictures - the bedroom has less natural light, but the front room is full of light and lovely to have a little balcony for coffee in the morning or beer/wine in the evening. The stairs are very steep, but are well lit. The apartment was clean, modernized and well-equipped, and the check-in/check-out process with Caroline went very smoothly! We would stay here again!

Lovely apartment on quiet canal

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 1 week in this lovely apartment. Easy check in, Caroline easily contactable and showed us around the flat and its facilities.

Quiet canal street but very close to Leidseplein and museums, easy walk up to town by various routes but very close to tram lines too if needed.

Well appointed with a super wet room.

Steep narrow stairs as you would expect in this historic property so take care with your luggage!

The flat was warm, well equipped and very clean.

You can hear the kids upstairs running around as they get ready for school in the morning but very quiet in the evenings when we got back from days out.

So much better than a cramped hotel room and would stay again on a future trip.

DELIZIOSO

  • 5 of 5
