lovely and tranquil spot directly on Anini beach
My mother and I just returned from a week's stay at this lovely cottage. (I'm 44 and she is 74). It's very peaceful and very private. Rarely saw another person on the beach. Great swimming area as the reef protects the water from being too windy. The beach is sandy and flat and easy to walk for a long distance. The cottage itself is comfortable, with 2 nice beds and a fully equipped kitchen, including sharp knives ( which is not always the case with vacation rentals). It has a gas stove which we also appreciated. The only thing we missed was having a Lanai or some sort of covered area to sit outside as the weather was pretty rainy when we were there and a covered porch would make this place perfect. As it was, we were able to sit under the trees on the days it was only lightly raining. The best feature is the wonderful outdoor shower! All in all it was a great rental and definitely recommend it and the location. This was our 4th time to Kauai.
Thanks for the great review. You and your Mom were perfect guests. I hope you will return someday soon!
Like finding a sunrise shell
I really can only say a couple things about this property. You have to experience the rest. Its true living on Kauai and even more so on the north shore. Roosters at pre-dawn with your coffee and the darkest night skies you will see anywhere on the planet. Thank you Deborah for being such a gracious host and thank you for keeping this cottage. Can't wait to come back.
This property exceeded our expectations in every way. The property manager, Deborah, is very responsive to all communications...from securing the property to addressing any questions or concerns, she will get back to you in a timely manner. As for the property itself, while rustic in the sense that it is not a huge amenity filled home, it is perfect for a relaxing getaway right on Anini Beach. We had a great time...would definitely rent again...and highly recommend.
Perfect little getaway on the beach
This place made our Kauai experience great. We meant to make it town to Poipu or other southern towns sooner, but we didn't make it down until out last day. I am soooo glad we did not rent down there. It was full of people and so unappealing.
We spent most of our time around Anini and it was amazing. The beach is so quiet and just in the backyard. The water is always calm enough to swim or snorkel in, unlike most of the beaches on Kauai. The cabin is stocked with equipment for snorkeling, water shoes, beach mats, and lounge chairs. The manager was amazing and recommended a few activities. She guided us to the spot just down the beach (right out from the boat dock) that we would see sea turtles. Sure enough every time we went out there were sea turtles. It was amazing! We saw sting rays and countless other sea life as well. I would suggest having some neoprene shirts for when it is overcast so that you are comfortable in the water.
Princeville stores are very close and the grocery store there has everything you might need. We made the mistake of hitting Kmart right off the flight for a few necessities.
There is an adorable and affectionate cat that hands around the cabin. We fed her twice a day and enjoyed her company. Muku, who we also called beach cat, was such a nice addition. She even killed a rat while we were there.
The cabin was very clean and had all the necessities one would think of, well except a pizza cutter. You will find Kauai is quite expensive for even simple items, so sometimes a frozen pizza is pretty appealing, especially after a long day hiking, kayaking, biking or swimming.
Don't forget chickens are all over the place. This cabin had a few fans, which allowed us to have some white noise at night so that they did not disturb us.
The property is very very private with large hedges all around the property. Between this and the limited traffic on the beach, we had a lot of privacy. The outdoor shower was amazing! It is really necessary after being out in the water and walking through the sand.
Cable is limited, but that wasn't much of an issue as we usually just watched a movie on our tablet in bed before we went to sleep. You certainly won't be watching tv during the day here.
There are two rooms and one has a king bed with an incredible view of the ocean. The washer and dryer were nice and really necessary. Deborah was just amazing. She did everything she could to make us comfortable!Very very sweet and considerate
Thanks Angela for the amazing review. You and Adam were great guests.
The pizza cutter will be there for your next visit!
A hui hou (until we meet again)
The description and reviews of this property were so accurate.I'd give it 6 stars it I could. The cottage is vintage, as advertised. While it is not fancy it is perfect in every way. The one acre property is at a private end of the most perfect beach. The grounds are pristine and manicured and very park-like. The water lapped up right in front of the house, allowing us to snorkel from infront our the house. The water there was gentle and the home to many beautiful sea turtles . We celebrated every moment we were in this fabulous location. Deborah warned us in advance that August is the warmest month and it was quite warm. The cottage got quite toasty in the afternoon even with the numerous fans provided. A small price for being in paradise!
Perfect simplicity full of every amenity you'll need.
As an architect who appreciates a simple aesthetic, this place was ideal. Simple, modest home in an incredible location!!! One of my treats was to cook fabulous meals while we were there. Kitchen had everything we needed, including sharp knives! All to be served alfresco overlooking the beach a step away.
Garage-storage area had everything we needed including tiki torches, bbq and beach chairs!
Location is great, not in the middle of the hubbub more tourist 'crowds' (not that it's very crowded at all, even in the town of Hanalei) but close enough to get what we needed conveniently.
Deborah was great! Not obtrusive at all, perfectly accommodating.
We will look forward to returning in two years!!!!
Property is right on Anini Beach. Year round swimming, snorkeling right out the front door. Our yard meets the sand!
