This stunning 2 bedroom penthouse is located on the top floor of a beautifully restored, 1912 Vancouver Craftsman-style, Heritage Manor Home situated on a beautiful tree lined street in the heart of Vancouver's premier neighbourhood - Kitsilano and Point Grey. Steps to shops, restaurants and services. Only 2 short blocks to the ocean waterfront. 8 minutes by bus to downtown. Best location in Vancouver!

Light and airy, our penthouse is an open concept 2 bedroom suite that is warm, inviting and makes you feel right at home. The south facing french doors provide lots of natural light and leads to a large patio deck where you can relax with a drink and take in some sunshine. The newly renovated and fully equipped kitchen offers stainless steel appliances, a gas range and granite countertops. You can relax on the large sectional sofa, turn on the gas fireplace and relax with your favourite book or watch a movie on our new LED 46 inch TV.

The master bedroom is private and separate from the second bedroom and offers a stunning view of the ocean, north shore mountains and the beautiful tree lined street below. Both bedrooms have a queen bed with brand new pillow top hotel quality mattress, 400 thread count sheets and Pottery Barn covers and duvets. The bathroom has a bathtub, shower, elegant fixtures and a granite counter top.

Arguably the best location in the city, Alma Beach Manor is only 2 blocks to the beach and 8 minutes to downtown and UBC. The bus stop is just outside the door. You have instant access to bike there is no need for a car! Fine dining and boutique shops are only steps away on 4th Avenue and we are just a few blocks from the world famous Kitsilano Beach and Kitsilano Pool, a 50 meter outdoor pool that overlooks English Bay, Kits Beach, downtown Vancouver and the stunning north shore mountains.

About Manfred Schultz or Carol McDermott

Carol has been in the travel business for many years as a flight attendant, hence the love for travel and meeting new people. We love outdoor activity such as skiing, biking on our tandem, swimming, windsurfing and sailing. Walking in our tree lined neighbourhood and the sandy beaches is one of our favourite passtimes. Eating out at the many ethnic restaurants is also an easy thing to do just steps away.

When we are not here to enjoy Vancouver's breathtaking sights and sounds, we love to explore other parts of the world including our favourite, Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand.

We have lived in the beautiful area of Kitsilano and Point Grey in the heart of Vancouver for over 30 years. We love the old heritage style architecture of the homes, some of which we have restored, added modern conveniences and brought back some of the old charm. Our properties are all north of 4th Avenue so they are close to the beautifull beaches of Vancouver and yet we are only 5 to 10 minutes from downtown. The Manor is also on one of Vancouver's designated bicylce streets.

What makes this house unique

Having travelled extensively, we recognize that having conveniences like high speed internet, cable TV, laundry, free parking and full kitchens are great benefits to feeling 'at home'. We offer all of these on an inclusive basis. There are no hidden costs. We make it convenient for travellers to check in and out with keyless entry locks. The property is located in a lovely treed residential neighbourhood, just steps to many unique, ethnic restaurants, shops and services. The bus stop is just outside so you can travel anywhere by bus; hiring a car is not really necessary.

Diagonally opposite the Manor, is the wonderful Tatlow Park, which has a playground and tennis courts and takes you right to the ocean.

If you do not want to stay in a condo or high rise building, we offer a lovely, safe alternative for couples, families and business travellers.

Only one minor thing: the door to the terrace is very hard to open. (only my husband found the magic trick to open)

As there are several suites ranging from Studio to 3 bedroom, please call or email for up-to-date availability for desired suite. Rent the whole house for a special re-union, wedding, anniversary or business retreat. The Manor will accommodate up to 22 persons. House is right on designated bike path. Opposite house is Tatlow Park with children's playground, tennis courts and path to ocean beach. Steps from the house are numerous great restaurants, grocery stores and shopping on West 4th Ave.

Perfect location!

Alma Beach Penthouse is perfectly located in Kitsilano. It is central to everything in Vancouver without being in the heart of the city. It has that suburb feel yet close to Broadway and 4th; making eating out and shopping really easy. It is just next to a park and 2 blocks from the beach. Public transportation is also easily available, and if you drive as we did, there is plenty of street and private parking with the unit. The unit itself is kept well and is exactly as you see it in the pictures.

There are however a few things that need to be clearer when booking this location. All not bad in itself but you just need to know what you are booking.

1. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this location is not it. What the pictures do not show is the fact that there is an open lot behind the house, which then fronts 4th and McDonald streets - which can be pretty busy at times. Although the open patio looks inviting in the pictures, it fronts this open lot, to the junction and across the street to a pub/liquor store (so not exactly a restful view).

2. The Alma Beach house is a combination of 5 vacation rentals. The penthouse is at the top of the building, and its entry is up the front stairs, through the front main door, and up 3 short flights of stairs to get to the unit's front door. Once through the door, its another 2 flights of stairs to get to the units floor. The building is a 3 level house. So if you are not ready for stairs... stay clear.

3. Laundry is available in the building but it is shared with all the other units in a common laundry room on the main floor. It costs CDN$1 for a wash load and CDN$1 for a dry load. So, if you were thinking that laundry is in the unit, it is not, and you need Canadian quarters to use the common laundry. Or you can also use the laundromat on 4th.

Other than these 3 things, there is a lot to like about this unit. A nice touch is the welcome basket of goodies provided in the fridge, the shared bookcase of interesting reads in the main hallway, and for stays over 7 days, the very prompt and discrete cleaning service to refresh towels, etc. Plus in our case, Manfred's daughter was so good to drop off a couple of tennis rackets for us to use!

Recommendations to make things better... Have a laundry basket. Have more Nespresso pods! They are hard to find but taste so good!

Wonderful Vancouver location!

The Penthouse was perfect for our visit to Vancouver. The apartment was very well maintained and included everything we needed to make our stay both memorable and comfortable. We were able to walk just about everywhere and would have rented bikes for the entire stay if we had known that the area was so bike friendly. We enjoyed the Kitsalano pool, the access to Whole Foods Market, area restaurants, and especially the lovely weather. Thanks! We'll definitely be recommended the Alma Beach House to our friends and family.

Excellent home away from home

I recently stayed at Alma Suites for the month of February, 2016. The location is great, (beach,shopping, and restaurants all within 5 minutes), there's lots of on street parking, the bed is very comfy and the neighbourhood is beautiful, quiet and safe. The owners were very helpful and easy to contact.

Very good journey

I landed alma beach manor for 9 nights. I just love it. Beach is only 200m away. Going to the downtwon is only ten min by bus. A safeway, asian shop are right less than 800m away. Alma beach manor is home like hotel.

Good location, very convenient "mini-apartment" and excellent service

I had 2 days of meetings at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and needed a place that was walking distance, good value for the price and wanted to be close to the waterfront to do my morning run. The place was very clean, the bed had good support (unlike some hotels) and I liked the fact that it was close to the pharmacy, a convenience store and restaurants. I was 2 blocks away from the park from where I was able to see the fireworks over the marina. Manfred, thanks again for the service. You can call that man several times and he always picks up the phone with a smile in his voice and delivers on your needs. Definitely recommend and I plan going back next time I am in town hoping to take advantage of the kitchen and the gaz range.

Alma Beach Home

I travel to Vancouver often and Alma Beach Suites is my perfect landing spot in Kitsilano. The apartments and suites are ALL clean, bright and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. From the small library at the front door to the fresh fruit that often greets you on arrival,.the owners have paid attention to all the details to insure that your stay is perfect. The location in Kits is ideal for walking to the beach,parks,and great nearby restaurants. UBC is close,and the city center is a breeze to get to. Tucked into a quiet mellow neighborhood,parking is simple if you drive in or the bus stop is only 1/2 block away. Very very well done.!!
