West Virginia Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

This home is geared towards families who are looking to make an affordable trip to the mountains for a ski adventure. We can help you to keep your trip affordable where rentals and food are concerned, the latter being the most difficult to manage. A full kitchen and affordable non-resort options can remove most of that pain, yet one of the 3 ski areas is only 10 minutes from our door. Note that we are not adverse to any type of group but rather we are a family of 4 and understand the needs of that group well. Being the group leader can be taxing and we hope to help you actually enjoy your trip instead of simply leading it.

The home sits directly between the two Snowshoe entrances Directly across from The Raven Golf Course! 2 Loft areas are located in the A frame vaulted ceiling(chateau style). There are two loft bedrooms and a couch. There are 2 beds with one in each of the lofts(separate bedding areas separated by a wall), and a couch with blankets on the first floor. Downstairs is a great room with a full kitchen, dining room table, living room and a separate full bath. There are two skylights. The walls are made out of six inch logs as seen in pictures, and the ceiling is knotty pine. Stairs are actual spruce beams and logs. Electric fireplace in living room.

Unit is well maintained and clean. Very rustic and cozy(downright nice)!! There is a full kitchen with pans and such for your use. It is well stocked but you may need to bring specialty or particular items. Floors are Slate, Hickory,Cedar and Carpet. The hot tub is next door. Parking is in front of the unit. No more long hikes from the parking lot! No hallways.

There is a 36' TV w/ Smart TV downstairs and a 23' Flat Screen w/ Sat TV on 2nd floor. There is an I Pod ready stereo on each floor(3.5 aux plug needed for others). Most of my renters are families and as a father I know the kids tend to hijack the TV so I split them up when needed.

This is a fairly quiet location and is very close to the slopes. It is located in very wooded area. You can literally hike for days out of the front door. Cass, Big Springs, and other desirable locations are nearby. Affordable grocery and eateries are close to home. We detail local info to help you navigate a very spread out resort at an affordable price

*Please see notes at bottom

*Please note that the property has no legal address so the pin as shown is incorrect. I know this is odd, but it is a very rural area and we have no need for mail so we have never established an address. I will provide directions to my door from either entrance of Snowshoe.

Yes, the hot tub works. No matter where you stay things can break. We are 2 hours from a parts source so regardless of a private or shared hot tub you to allow the tech to get here with the proper parts. I am amazed at how many people ask us about the hot tub. it is a great tub. Truth is is rarely breaks and the most common cause of tubs at Snowshoe being closed is waiting for it to warm up after being drained due to misuse. People add bubble bath, beer, and even cut the heat down on them.

*A pet can be considered on a case by case basis.

About Billy

Frequent visitor to the Snowshoe area. I like watching my kids enjoy and learn to appreciate the mountain environment and outdoor experience. Even if it is just for a few days at a time, they never forget the time the spend there. Nothing makes you smile like seeing an 8 year old climb to the top of her first mountain.

Billy purchased this condo in 2005

Why Billy chose West Virginia

It's location is close to all of Pocahontas Counties outdoor activities, especially the biking/hiking right out the front door. Please note that the property has no legal address so the pin is incorrect. I will provide directions to my door from either entrance of Snowshoe. I am able to park directly in front of my house. But most of all the resort is within sight but I have peace and quiet. Surrounded by nature. On top of that I can cook in my own kitchen and the community is excellent. Kids can play outside and the I can walk the dog for miles.

What makes this condo unique

Excellent hot tub facilities, parking right out front, a yard, cheap restaurants, a market outside of the resort, the creek, riding my bike to the Greenbrier river trail and turning south to get coffee in Marlinton, walking my pup, privacy, friendly neighbors, minutes to skiing, affordable ski shops, and a great deal more.

Relaxing Summer getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the unit next door that Billy had recently purchased. He still had some updates that he wanted to do, but I was struggling to find availability for July 4th weekend and reached out about this property. It wasn't available, but Billy offered his next door unit even though it wasn't quite ready for "prime time". The unit was perfect and Billy was awesome to work with. He was responsive, followed up with us before we left, gave very clear directions, and offered suggestions on things to do/where to go. The property is in a quiet location, felt very safe, was extremely peaceful, and so close to Snowshoe. My kids (18,16, & 12) and I really enjoyed our weekend and would definitely rent from Billy again.

Owner's Response: Thanks! It should be up and ready for 'prime time' in the next couple of weeks. I'll edit and add the VRBO number once we are done.

Completely Beautiful and Multifunctional

  • 5 of 5

We stayed from February 24-26, and absolutely loved it. You got the solitary cabin feel, yet had a fully function (pretty full size kitchen) so if you AREN'T there for full time Snowshoe activities, you could cook a greateal relax in an big open living area, with the electric fireplace going and watch the snow fall- or a little cable. There is also wifi- Thank God because you have no signal whatsoever on the mountain.

Also there is a "community" hot tub- which we were a little hesitant twds, being 'who the HELL would think to bring a bathing suit, right?? But it was completely empty the while time- we totally could have pulled it off lol...but has so much fun we kinda forgot about it.

The beds are loft style, a little different than I'm used to at 6'0 tall, but kinda feel like you are in a tree house. Big comfortable beds, with TV mounted in front of you (in the master). Slept like babies.

The owner is awesome, makes himself completely available to you and your needs the whole time you are there. Which, for us, was a fantastic advantage.

I can't recommend it enough. This was our honeymoon. We'll be looking up the owner for a revisit as soon as we can afford to make the 10+ hour trip again!

Our stay all around was unforgettable! Thanks, Billy! A++++ accommodations and above all customer service. We're loyal customers for life!

Simple and easy

  • 5 of 5

We almost cancelled due to weather. This may be the worst year for snowfall in their history. Once we got up there though there was more to do than ski and the resort did a great job of making the slopes available. I plan to visit and stay in this same house again. The house is really neat with the cabin style and log walls. It is warm, inviting, and private. The drive to the slopes didn't take long and food prices were amazingly lower at the places he directed us too so that trade off was a no brainer. There is a shuttle a few minutes from the house but we prefer to not wait in lines in the cold so we never used it. The back country behind the place goes on for father than I can say but we hiked almost everyday. We may return after ski season just to hang out and hike. There is supposed to be a trail out back that can be followed for 80 miles! The house and the area are very unique.

Great Deal

  • 5 of 5

Billy went above and beyond to accommodate a rental on very short notice from me. The place is convenient and easy to find and has a nice mountain home decor. Great cost alternative to staying in the resort especially considering that we spent so much time outside skiing. All of the info and tips provided about the Snowshoe area from Billy were great. Parked at Top of the World (free) and had an easy commute back down the mountain at the end of the day. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

family ski weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family of five stayed at Billy's place while skiing during a busy holiday weekend at Snowshoe and we loved it! It's off the mountain, so you have to drive or shuttle bus it to the slopes, but the off mountain location is peaceful and quiet and the cabin is snug and cozy. Sleeping is a bit "family style" with open air loft upstairs holding two double beds and a pull-out couch below - everyone has to go to bed at the same time or you hear everything. Would be touch with small kids becuase of the outside stairs and the loft stairs, but worked great for us with older kids. Special bonus of this place is that we got to bring our small dog with us, but check with Billy first to make sure it's ok. Everyone was super friendly, grocery store and pizza place not far from the cabin and if you're coming for the skiing, it was great! Id definitely recommend 4 wheel drive and/or chains on the tires if coming in winter weather, as roads to get to the slopes are steep and slow to be treated. Will certainly stay again in the future!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback! Important to note that there are 2 lofts as in plural and they are separated by walls and are about 8' apart separated by a stairwell. We never had a problem with sleeping while others carried on downstairs but I imagine it could occur for some people. While there are open balconies to the first floor, they are separated from one another. Our kids usually hang upstairs with the tv in the master while the adults play downstairs. On small kids, always have a pack and play at Snowshoe as stairs are unavoidable. As a dad I recommend taking extra precautions in any home you may rent, especially at Snowshoe where stairs and suddenly icy/snow covered walk ways are the norm. Also, we do not nor have we ever had a fold out couch so I wonder if this review is for our house? There are places in our village that I know fit this description. As for 4WD I would suggest at the minimum have cables for back up if you do not use snow tires. If you do keep cables/chains in your trunk, it is important you practice putting them on BEFORE driving into snow. You will do very little driving while there but you could have issues entering or exiting the area altogether. I personally can make it around in 2 wheel drive but others should not overestimate their abilities. With that said, I have arrived during a storm and been unable to get into the area. No matter which way you come, you will cross a mountain so plan ahead and stay safe. I live full time in an area that is shut down by flurries or low snowfall so it is clear that many visitors to the Snowshoe area from warmer locales do not comprehend the amount of snowfall we can receive in a short period, or the hills you have to cross to get here. The road to the shuttle stop is fairly flat, nothing else here is flat or straight. We are 2 hours form any interstate. Our best trait can work against you in 2WD. Oh, if you are looking at TWC for snow reports, don't; it is likely incorrect. Those rain days they predict often turn into powder days on the hill. I do not mean to alarm anyone as the results are quite varied depending upon the individual, but please understand it does snow here. A lot(hopefully). Cheers!
