About Kathy Heacock
My husband and I first visited Abaco and Casuarina Point in 1996. We were hooked! We vacationed there with our 3 sons and decided to purchase property and build our dream, beach home - Abaco Palms, in 2005. We built a two bedroom house, Kokomo (#819533), in 2009 and added Camp David (#819873) - a 3 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath, and Calypso (#819876) - a 4 bedroom 2+bath house in 2013. Our sons are grown now, but they still LOVE to spend family time in Abaco at Casuarina Point. To us it is heaven on earth!
Kathy Heacock purchased this House in 2005
Why Kathy Heacock chose South Abaco
Casuarina Point is a unique location. We enjoy the beautiful, crystal clear shallow water in front of the house, and we are protected by the reef out front that is so fun for snorkeling and fishing. There are many uninhabited islands to explore - private beaches for swimming and picnics - blue holes to explore - bone fish to catch - nature to discover - the list can go on and on! It is a great location for kayaking - we have 4 that the main house and guest house share. We moor a 16' Carolina Skiff in front of the house and it is perfect for exploring the area. This is not possible at most ocean front beach houses - the reef's protection makes it possible. Our white sand beach stretches for miles - a perfect walking, exploring beach. Try it - you will be hooked, too!
What makes this House unique
All of our rentals include use of 16' Carolina Skiff. There is a boat moored in front of each house for your use to go fishing, snorkeling, or exploring the many small islands in the area. There is a Vita SPA hot tub on each deck, and 12 kayak, 6 paddle board, and 3 knee paddle board for our guests use for exercise and exploring. The houses and decks have spectacular views -and you walk right out on the beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a setting that can't be beat!

Wonderful Private Beach House
Our family greatly enjoyed our stay at Abaco Palms which was a Wonderful Private Beach House at Casuarina Point, near Marsh Harbour Bahamas. It was like having our own private resort. We had a beautiful beach right out the back door of our beach house with the use of a motor boat, kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards, and other beach items. 100 yards out was some wonderful snorkeling reefs and many areas to fish. A Tiki Hut, Large Hot Tub, a hammock are all available to use. At night the sheer numbers of visible stars in the sky made it difficult to pick out the normal visible consolations. We had 3 couples and one single and plenty of room for all. The property was clean and kept well for a beach house. The owners were fantastic! We were lucky enough to have been there the same time Kathy and Gary were staying a few houses down the beach and they were very warm and welcoming to our family and very helpful during our stay. We with great enthusiasm recommend this property to family, friends or anyone looking to get away for a while. You can either cook, have someone cook for you or visit restaurants North in Marsh Harbour or South at the Sandpiper. Also plan a day trip to Hope Town and visit the lighthouse there. It's a quick ferry ride from Marsh Harbour. We did so much and had such a good time that I could go on and on. 5 Stars from the Blacklidge Family!
We had 6 adults at this property mid-June of 2017. Most everything we needed was there & the kitchen was well-appointed. The dear housekeeper, Anthionette, stocked in basic food and liquor for us, so we could hit the ground running! And Kathy, the property owner, was as helpful as could be!
The only negatives were that the boat motor conked out when some of our party was quite a ways out in the sound and they had to row back, and we experienced several power blackouts which made cooking a real chore for one of our big dinners (thank goodness for the grill!).
Beautiful location and the beach is fantastic. At low tide, especially, the water is quite shallow for a very long way out, so perfect for kids too.
Our group of eight adults -- all fly fishermen and women -- stayed from May 1-9, 2017 and everyone agrees that we had an absolutely great stay at Abaco Palms.
Property owners, Kathy and Gary Heacock, were hands-on all the way, from start to finish, providing plenty of information about the property, where to buy groceries, who to contact for guides, etc. And once on site, they were easily contacted with any questions that came up.
The house -- right on the water with a pristine beach -- includes a lower deck for their kayaks and paddle boards, a shower for rinsing, a small bathroom, and an inside storage closet for inner tubes and more. The upper deck has plenty of seating for reading or dining, and the nearby hot tub was very clean. The 4-bedroom/4-bathroom layout was perfect; lots of hot water for showers; dining table comfortably seated eight; well-stocked kitchen with plenty of nice serving pieces and lots of silverware; the washer and dryer were essential since we fished everyday; the living area had plenty of seating. Internet worked well and the cable tv was great, although we mainly used it for background music when we dined. Kathy provides a landline with free local calls which really helped when we had to stay in touch with our local fishing guides.
When we made our reservations for the house, the 16' skiff and kayaks seemed like a nice touch, but they turned out to be much more than that: they were perfect for getting to and from the island across the way to fly fish and we kayaked around the area almost every day.
The neighborhood, Casaurina Point, is great -- plenty of privacy but not so secluded that we didn't see folks while walking along the beach. You will need transportation.
All of our group would highly recommend the property.
Idyllic Beachfront Home
Just spent a week at Camp David with 4 adults and 2 kids ages 6 and 3. It was great. Camp David’s location was perfect for the six of us. The shallow waters took any worries about our grandkids getting in trouble and provided a completely relaxing vacation. We could spend all day just looking at the view from the porch - magnificent.
I’ve done enough sailing around Abaco to know my way around the area but sailing is a little more work and not real great for young kids. Having a beautiful house as a base was excellent. The house is wonderfully designed and furnished - all the amenities and toys one could desire including a new hot tub built into the water-facing deck. It was tough to leave but we'll be back ASAP.
Perfect Paradise Getaway
We had a PERFECT vacation at Abaco Palms- the location, the house, the amenities fit the bill for a week's getaway with our friends. We loved the ability to walk right out onto the beach, go fishing, boating, paddling, walking, and just relaxing- all at our fingertips. The house was excellent for four couples with plenty of room for entertaining. Kathy and Gary are gracious hosts who were superb at communicating with us. We can't say enough about how wonderful they are!! Kathy provided very detailed information about the Abacos, fishing spots, guides, caterers, and local watering holes. If we had known how delicious our catered meal by Debbie was going to be, we would have booked her for many more during our stay! We truly had one of the most memorable, relaxing, fun vacations ever. We can't wait to come back with our friends and families.
Spring Vacation at Abaco Palms
Staying at the Abaco Palms home was amazing. The beachfront home is spacious and fully equipped with everything you can think of. Just to name a few of the toys included are kayaks, paddleboards, a skiff and snorkeling equipment. The beach is breathtaking and since the Casuarina Point community is very small and secluded you have the beach almost to yourself with miles of walking for beachcombing.
We saw schools of bonefish right on the beach. My teenage son caught one on a fly rod while paddleboarding. He was thrilled.
The owners have paid great attention to detail in every way as their objective is for your enjoyment of this special property. My family can't wait to go back again soon.
