I was on holiday in Croatia touring around from Split and on to all the Islands and was looking to invest in an apartment if I saw the right place. When I arrived on Korcula I fell totally in love with the Island, it truly is a beautiful Island.
I went to see a few houses that were advertised and stumbled on this boarded up Villa right on the sea, I managed to fight my way through the overgrown garden and up onto the terrace, that was it I was in love with this house and it's location to the old historic town of Korcula. I will never forget the views from the terrace and can still never get enough of looking out over the sea and mountains opposite.
Amazing views over the sea and mountains, watching all the beautiful boats go by including some amazing cruise and sailing boats.
The location of Villa Jade as being situated in the lovely village of Medvinjak and within comfortable walking distance along the sea to Korcula old town wich has a lovely atmosphere and lots of nice resturants, bars and shops etc to keep you entertained.
The apartment was very clean and well equipped although 5 old coat hangers between 2 of us was just not enough. A powerful shower with plenty of hot water. The view is lovely and the terrace a good size to enjoy it from. We did have a slight problem with noise from the neighbouring apartment - we were in one of the ground floor apartments with the interconnecting door, ideal for a larger family or 2 groups, but not enough sound proofing when you have noisy neighbours. On the whole it didn't become a big issue because we were out and about for most of the stay. Korcula is a beautiful island, lots to explore and Villa Jade a good base to do it from.
We stayed in Ground Floor apartment 2 for three nights and in the Attic for three more. From start to finish Julia & Steve provided us with excellent information for our first stay on this beautiful island.
Even the rain and thunderstorms during our stay didn't spoil things and we loved the ever changing view of the mountains. We took the chance to relax more than we normally would and enjoy the apartments instead of rushing everywhere. Our daily walk into Old Korcula Town was great, we mooched around and made plenty of stops in the lovely cafes.
A little further afield - a short bus ride took us to Lumbarda with it's beautiful coastal walk, a swim in the sea (lovely and warm even in October) and the cafe near the bus stop.
The apartments were clean and well maintained, we felt very comfortable in them both. The view from the Attic is as amazing as the pictures show.
We hope to visit the island again and would definitely recommend this villa.
No review would be complete without a thank you to Zeljka for her warm welcome during our stay.
Villa Jade is in a lovely spot, approximately 15 minutes walk into Korcula town, which was a nice stroll, taking in the sunset on the way. Over looks the sea, and handy for an early morning swim, to wake you up. Can't fault the apartment, only issue for us was the lack of privacy between apartments 1 and 2! A better screen would make all the difference.
Plenty of lovely restaurants in Korcula town, and a beautiful island to discover.
Korcula is the greenest and one of the most beautiful and most interesting of Croatia's 1000 or so Adriatic islands and was said to be a favourite Greek holiday spot over 2000 years ago and the birth place of the great traveller Marco Polo. Korcula old town is described as a mini fortress, a walled city enclosed within honey colored stone walls that contained a labyrinth of quaint cobbled streets with many architectural delights, art-galleries, lots of lovely shops, restaurants and bars. All this is just a 10min scenic walk along the coast from villa Jade.
Various day trips are available by boat to the beautiful ancient walled city of Dubrovnik and the lovely islands of Hvar, Mljet and Lastovo. Things to do include: local boat hire (licence required), scuba diving + local scuba school, wind surfing, fishing and bicycle hire.
