We stayed in this quaint little house for three wonderful weeks. Built in 1569 and very well maintained, it is situated in the old town area just fifty metres from the lovely Neckar river. It was convenient for all the things we wanted to do in this area of Germany. Although the stairs were not a problem for us, be aware that there are two steep flights - one up to the living area and the other up to the bedroom. The bus stop to Heidelberg if fifty metre from the house
We enjoyed our stay at this unique, well-appointed, clean historic house. We were visiting Heidelberg and wanted to avoid a tourist hotel. By coming 20 minutes down the road we accomplished our goal! Like many places in Eurpoe some of the ceiling clearances are tight if you are over 6'2" - se one of us leaned to duck going up the stairs... There are so very good local restaurants and a family bakery close-by and we really enjoyed the local experience. Parking was easy and free. We highly recommend this property for a family or couple looking for a lovely and unique property.
This house is amazing. So cozy and welcoming. Very nicely furnished. The kitchen is well equipped. The Location is fantastic. It is steps from the Neckar River, and the Bus stop. There is a great German Restaurant. 2 minutes from your door and a great café also. 2 Bakeries 2 minutes away. The farmers market on Saturday morning in a great place to meet the locals. The vendors will give you tips on preparing all their German delectables. This is a great location to have as a base to explore Heidelberg, and many many castles perched above the Neckar River. Such a beautiful place. The house is absolutely perfect for a couple or a group of ladies. The parking was not a problem at all.
This is a lovely home. Very nicely done to mix old character with modern conveniences. Spacious and clean. Owner a bit slow in answering emails. Car park close by but permit lapsed which gave us concern but did not cause an issue. Nice restaurants just around corner.
Neckargemund is a very cute village with lovely restaurants and ice cream shops. It has lovely old buildings and Tudor style buildings including the apartment. The apartment has everything you need including a very good dishwasher and washing machine. The interent is excellent and the kitchen is well fitted with touches of old world to make it fit in with the apartment. The beds are comfortable and the shower works well. The hosts are accommodating and very friendly and just a phone call away if you need anything, but we had no problems, so we didn't need to contact them, although we did see them, as they had an office in the same building. Neckargemund is only 20mins on the train from Heidelberg and I would recommend staying in Neckargemund and travelling to Heideberg. If you go in summer there is a fantastic public swimming pool, but to call it this is an understatement. It has grass, trees, a hilly background and the pools are huge, you can just go and relax for the day. Neckargemund also has walks along the river and you can also catch a ferry to other pretty little villages. If you prefer to stay in small towns near the bigger cities stay in this apartment in this town. We love Neckargemund. Oh there is also a great pub there with great food and good german beer and wine.
We had a great weeks stay here but did have a few hiccups on the way. The house is really nice and very comfortable. We struggled to actually work a few items such as the oven and car parking without a guide book or some form of hints on arrival. We were able to get by as the owners were helpful on the telephone being on holiday themselves but it really would have been nice to have an introduction of some sorts on a personal level when we arrived. Location is quite good and the train to locations is within 5 minutes walk. Some of the shops where closed as this region of Germany seemed to have gone away the middle two weeks of August but the main ones needed such as bakery, supermarkets were OK and close. Local pool was nice and heidelberg is a 2 days experience. The museum at Sinshiem is also very much worthy of a days visit. There is not real outdoor seating here at the property and the house does back onto a road/path down it's side so you will be confined really to the indoors. The river and local gasthaus's though are within easy reach. I would also comment that the house has gone that bit further with some nice touch's such as the amount of cooking items, dishes etc, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker etc etc
Neckargemünd, also known as Heidelberg’s beautiful neighbour, is situated only 10 km from Heidelberg on the romantic Castle Road in the middle of the holiday region Natural Park Neckartal-Odenwald.
The town is nestled between mountains covered with deciduous and coniferous forests and the Terrassen-Schwimmbad is one of the region’s prettiest outdoor pools.
Neckargemünd’s old town has a history of more than 1000 years. Medieval narrow streets, corners and half-timbered houses are enjoyable for strolls.
Bergfeste Dilsberg is especially well known, a castle on a mountain above the Neckar valley which can be seen from a far distance.
There is a varied offer of activities available: from a number of excursion possibilities for bikers and hikers to boat and ship trips on the Neckar river.
From Neckargemünd, you can discover the Natural Park Neckartal-Odenwald, the Kraichgau hilly region, the Electoral Palatinate and the Castle Road.
