Casa La Playa is an architectural gem built on a stunning beach in the quiet old town of Loreto. Here you get the best of both worlds: luxurious five-star comfort inside a small gated compound with full-time caretaker, only 15 minutes' walk from the center of Loreto with its charming town plaza, 320-year-old Mission, shops and restaurants.

Included in the rental is free use of a Jeep Wrangler (stick shift) for getting around town. You just pay the gas.

The 3,000-square-foot casa comfortably accommodates three couples in three large bedrooms, two of which have a king bed and ensuite bath. The third bedroom has a queen and a double bed.

The casa takes full advantage of its magnificent setting on a remote shore of the Sea of Cortes. French doors from the living and dining rooms and bedrooms open to the deck of our full-length heated lap pool, which is steps from the beach. You can launch your kayak or paddle board right in front of the house and get ready for amazing encounters with sea and bird life. It's truly an eco-travel dream.

The casa is the perfect base for family gatherings and celebrations. The owners recently married their daughter here on the beach, and they often rent to multi-generational families for birthdays and other milestones. The big sunny kitchen is fully equipped for home-cooked or catered meals.

If your group is larger than six adults, you can add the adjacent casita, see details below.

It is no exaggeration to say that visitors just love Loreto. There's so much to see and do! Take a walking tour of the historic mission, hire a boat to go fishing, diving or island hopping, hike the sierras, visit beautiful San Javier in the sierras (by mule!) or drive 15 minutes to Loreto Bay's golf course, all of which can easily be arranged with our help. We will direct you to the best people and places (at the best prices) to ensure you get the very most out of your stay in Loreto.

Casa La Playa has high-speed WIFI, smart TV with satellite, a/c in all rooms, walk-in master closet, deluxe beddings, towels and toiletries, four bicycles and more than 1,000 square feet of outdoor decks with a full fireplace and seating area on the ground floor, a built-in BBQ dining area by the pool, and a palapa-covered outdoor living room on the second floor with gas fireplace and stunning 360-degree views of the sea, islands and mountains.

For larger groups: add Casita Verde for $200 USD/night. The deluxe one-bedroom guesthouse sleeps 2 to 3. It has a king bedroom and double sofabed in the LR, gourmet kitchen, pergola-shaded view deck and all the comforts of Casa La Playa but smaller.

The casita is not rented on its own -- it is strictly an add-on for guests who are renting the casa and need extra space.

Minimum stay: four nights. Maximum guests: 6 adults in casa, 9 in casa plus casita combined. Please speak with us about our kids' policy.

We spent a wonderful 10 days in Loreto in this Casa. Paula and Shaw were very gracious hosts and helped to set up activities for us, Paula even gave me a town tour and took us to the farmers market. We are a family of 4, celebrating my fathers 70th birthday. Everything was perfect. The house is well set up, location is great and view was incredible. Thank you for everything, we will be back!

Fantastic Home & Wonderful Host!

  • 5 of 5

After searching different towns and potential homes for rent in Mexico our Ladies Trip landed us at the perfect place with the most gracious of hosts, Paula. We LOVED our stay! The home itself is absolutely lovely with all the amenities you would ever need. We felt welcome & Paula went out of her way to take care of every little detail...even things we had not thought of. :-) The town is quaint and low key which we found relaxing and refreshing. Wonderful Experience!

We loved this home, the owners, and Loreto!

  • 5 of 5

We knew we wanted to get away to Mexico with our closest friends--but wanted to try something new. We were absolutely blown away by our experience in Loreto in general and with this luxurious home in particular. Loreto is a quaint fishing town with a central square surrounded by shops, restaurants, and vendors of all sorts. The cobble stone streets are tree lined, and late night cafes pop up for an after dinner drink. The harbor is more developed, but still has an authentic feel. We toured remote beaches by boat, ate fresh seafood, and enjoyed the warmth of the people in this community tremendously. Our Spanish is a little rusty--but the locals were very patient and most understood English as a back up.

The home we picked was more than we expected--fully stocked with all you could possibly need to make your stay special. The home features three lovely and large bedrooms, plenty of room for the four of us! A gourmet kitchen with separate dining room anchors the main floor. Flowing corridors, and an intimate living room make for cozy nights curled up with a book. A highlight though is the upstairs fire pit and the crows nest featuring a hammock (perfect for a quick siesta). The pool is gorgeous, and the beach right past the gate is sandy and lovely to walk along.

The best feature of all has to be the owners. They really made our trip unique. They provided guidance every step of the way--from airport shuttles, advise on where to go, where (and what) to eat, to arranging paddle board rentals, to even helping us hire a personal chef to prepare a special birthday meal for the four of us (with delicious cake even).

I highly recommend this home, it is outfitted with every feature and comfort a guest could ask for. It really felt like our home.

Perfect beachfront home in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We just loved this house, the owners, the location, Loreto.... I could just go on and on. The owner, Paula, was incredibly responsive on all of my questions about the house, the town, and what we should do in Loreto. We booked months in advance and when time came closer, she helped me set up the perfect vacation including where to rent boats, with whom to go fishing, which restaurants serve the best tacos. By the time we arrived I felt like I had a new friend. She and her husband took so much time to acquaint us to the area, even leading us to a restaurant for lunch (we arrived with 3 hungry kids.) Although Paula and her husband flew out the morning after we arrived, we were set to have the best vacation thanks in large part to all the preparation she made for us.

Now about the house, it is recently built, well stocked, and comfortable. We felt right at home. We rented kayaks and paddle boards and went out every morning for a paddle. There are bikes if you choose to use them. The location is right in town so you can hear fishing boats come and go from the beach nearby. We rented boats on two days and HIGHLY recommend it. ONe day we had a boat take us over to Coronado Island and we traveled with an enormous school, herd really!, of dolphins. We saw sealions, rays, pelicans and even blue-footed boobys, then of course there was the white sand of Coronado. So fun! Another day we went fishing and actually caught a couple fish. Fun again!

Loreto itself is a great little town with more good restaurants than we could visit in a week. If you have read this entire review, just go, just rent this house. You want to. It's going to be great. If we manage to go back, and we plan to, I know where we will stay:)

Absolutely perfect

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we decided to rent the hosts we unbelievably welcoming and helpful .... we stayed for 10 days with our two children ages 15 and 12 . It was by far the most well appointed VRBO we have ever stayed in , every little detail has been attended to and the hosts Paula and Shaw were warm , fun and had great suggestions for things to do , they have detailed information sheets as well . we stayed in the larger house on the beach and the views were incredible , the sunrise over carmen island every morning , the rays jumping and yes yes yes blue whales right off the house . they provided 4 bicycles and this was our primary mode of transportation to and from town ( maybe 5 -10 minutes ) , an enjoyable ride and a great way to see the sights .

The kitchen is well equipped for all sorts of cooking and the restaurants in town were inexpensive and delicious .

The house was just perfect for our group of four as there were three bedrooms , one with two double beds . Paradise awaits , its truly amazing ...... and we have travelled lots !

Beautiful and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Usually the pictures in the advertisement look better than reality. What a shock when Casa La Playa looked better than the pictures! We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Loreto and our stay at this very beautiful and comfortable house on the beach. Sunrises over the Sea of Cortez are stunning and can be viewed from bed in either king bedroom. Each morning the colors were different and vibrant. We actually saw blue whales spouting while relaxing at the house.

The house has every thing you need and is very close to Loreto, which is a lovely little fishing village with wonderful restaurants and sufficient shopping. We would unconditionally recommend a stay Casa La Playa in Loreto!

Please contact the owner with any questions and to discuss specific accommodations required, just casa or casa plus casita. The casita is only rented as an additional accommodation for casa guests. It is not a separate rental property. Rates are set in CAD due to the location of owner's bank. There will be slight variation in US rate due to exchange fluctuation. The casita may be added onto rental for additional $200 USD, plus cleaning fee and additional damage deposit as defined in contract. If you want to bring children, please discuss with owner. The casa is best suited to a maximum of 6 adult guests. Up to one more adult may be added with owner's approval only, for a surcharge of $100 per night. The casita accommodates up to 3. It is wheelchair accessible. Same no-smoking, no-pets policy as casa.

Normally the owner personally manages the property and guest services. If the owner is called away from Loreto a professional property manager will take her place, and renters will know who to expect on site at check-in.

* Deposit paid at time of booking is non-refundable. With 30 days' notice of cancellation a credit in the amount of the deposit may be applied to a future rental. This policy is firm due to the limited flights into Loreto. It is very difficult for the owner to fill canceled rentals, with the result that income is lost.

  • Canceled bookings will not receive a refund
