'AT HOME' en 'LA TOUR' are situated in the historical town at 8 min walking distance from the 'Markt' (main square).
'AT HOME' is an old house dating from the 19th century renovated with all the modern facilities.
'LA TOUR' (tower) is a 'Folly' from 18 century. It's a protected monument of the city of Bruges. The decoration is a compromise between design and antiques. The gardens created by the owner, who's a landscape architect, are really delightful.
We are both 54 old. We manage with love and simplicity our proprety witch is in the hand of our family since 1804. Louise love her unique historical town and is a proud guide of Bruges. Francis is landcape architect. Both we like travels, music and books.
Francis & Louise Hardy purchased this house in 2012
It was an absolute privilege to stay in this wonderfully restored tower and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to find somewhere totally unique in beautiful Bruges.
Louise and Francis were charming hosts and we felt like we had stepped back in time for our five days staying here.
Fantastic out of the way location only a ten minute walk to the centre of town.
Only an hour and a quarter drive from the Channel Tunnel and less than an hour's drive from the WW1 Battlefield Sites and Cemeteries at Ypres and Passiondale.
Would highly recommend.
We loved every minute of our week's stay in La Tour and Bruges. La Tour is unique and beautifully restored, a restful haven to return to after a day cycling in the countryside, or visiting places of interest (preferably away from the tourist hot spots!). We got used to cooking in a cupboard, and loved it for its quirkiness, the spiral stairs up to the Belvedere at the top where we sat in the evening sunshine. We didn't want to leave to come home and comforted ourselves with the knowledge that we could return!
Such a unique property in a lovely garden setting, just steps away from the grocery store and the bus. Easy to communicate with the ownerswith clear instructions for entry. This property has been thoughtfully refurbished, providing modern amenities in an antique setting. Appliances worked as intended, WiFi was reliable, and the pictures accurately show this property. We walked to town center or took the bus to access the train station. A side trip to Zebrugge was also fun. Recommend this property for those who appreciate history, but like modern appliances and nice linens.
We were dead chuffed to have found such a gem of a place to stay during our time in Bruges. La Tour is just beautiful - capacious, thoughtfully restored and very private, it is the perfect Bruges hideaway. Staying there made us feel like we were 'putting one over' all the other tourists in the city! We would have loved a pint of milk and some teabags on arrival, but otherwise can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you Louise and Francois.
We stayed here for 1 week in September, 2013. We loved this place. It's charming, quirky and very spacious. Not only was the bedroom large and roomy, there is a living room, private terrace and the watch tower. We enjoyed watching the sunrises and sunsets from the "belvedere". The owners were very kind and helpful. The apartment was about a 15 minute very charming walk to downtown Bruges. It was also close the bike paths and canals. The owners lard was absolutely gorgeous. It was hard to leave!!
We stayed for almost 2 weeks in La Tour for our honeymoon and we loved it!! It is so beautifully decorated and thoughtfully restored, it provided a perfect, cozy little escape.
Everything about it was completely magical.
The perfect combination of historic setting and modern conveniences produce an ideal vacation home.
We really felt like we had slipped into a fairy tale in our 200 year old tower, sipping tea and drawing in the belvedere or having cheese and wine in front of a roaring fire. I LOVED the bathtub!
The place is conveniently located but far enough from all the touristy spots to provide some peace and quiet. There is a private entrance for guests of La Tour, a handy netbook with internet access, wifi, a TV and a cute and fully functional little kitchen nestled in an antique wardrobe.
Francis and Louise were fabulous hosts, totally helpful if we needed them but mostly leaving us on our own. They provided us with a map of the town, made restaurant, shopping and service recommendations and gifted us with a bottle of Cava upon arrival. They were delightful, thoughtful hosts.
We were so sad to leave and can't wait to return for an anniversary. Now my new in-laws want to go stay at La Tour as well. I just can't praise it enough!!
Bruges, the famous middle ages city: the Venice of the North!!!
