Ride and relax
Cabin has a nice location in relation to the Brimstone trails, far from the trailhead giving us very few machine encounters on the trails. Cabin was clean and all that it was advertised. Cabin was nicely placed to give you seclusion and the feeling of being out in Gods country. We are not much for TV watching, but it was nice to have the netflix and other media via the unlimited data during the rainy evenings. Owners Chris and Misty were excellent to work with. If I were to fault the cabin with anything it would be the exterior decking is in need of some repair, but Chris stated that they were spending some time there soon to address some of the maintenance issues. We will be back again next year, providing the place is still being rented. THANKS, Chris and Misty. Maynard and Lisa of Midland, MI
Very private and clean cabin. We look forward to renting this cabin again.
Great place , Great Host
Just got back from a great trip down to “the haven”. I know I’m risking giving away a great secret but this is the perfect cabin if you are looking for easy access to Brimstone. Another huge plus is TOTAL privacy! All basic necessities are met w some extras as well. We will be back as long as we can find open dates. Don’t think there’s many like this one out there..Thanks for letting us share your great cabin. Dusty,Danielle, Harper, Dozer 🐾 and Java 🐾
Goods and oks...well worth the dough!
Goods & Oks:
Goods: Awesome, ideal, perfect location if you're coming to ride trails with ATVs or SxSs or even if you just wanna get away from it all. Access to all of Brimstone Recreation Area riding trails is a mile further down the street. House is clean, like new (not too old), well kept. There are even trails on the property (very short ones). Walmart 30 minutes away in Oneida. No cable or on air channels but there was Netflix and wifi (woohoo!!!). We loved watching movies after a great day of riding. Pond is cool! Tiny fish. Paddle boat is a blast. It had 2 bullet holes in it under waterline and half sunk but we took it out of pond, drained it and patched holes with flex tape. Kitchen is also awesome! Back wooden deck is nice. View is amazing. Air conditioning works perfect. Water heater flawless. Garden hose on side of property, great for washing off ATVs/SxSs. 2 fire pits were ideal (1 at front, another down at pond).
Oks: Bugs. We went in beginning of October 2018. Yellow Jackets, wasps and some other kind of benign bugs (maybe ladybugs). Ok, so, yellow jackets love the front porch light which is right next to the front door on one side. They also love terrorizing humans and are the size of a small 2 seat helicopter. They can probably carry away a small dog if they wanted to. Aside from the yellow jackets, wasps nest/hive under the hanging white metal bowls to the other side of the front door and are also not fond of pesky humans. We killed 3 Yellow Jackets while there for 6 days and maybe 25 wasps out on front porch. Inside, at the rear - floor to super high ceiling glass is riddled with small brown bugs. These are cool though. They're ok with humans. I don't think they bite. They barely fly and walk real slow. They do tend to fall off glass and onto bed right below by the glass. Look at it this way, if you go to sleep in this bed at night alone, you might not wake up in the morning alone. There's about 20 of those at all times on glass. Wasps also get inside but we only had 2 get inside during our 6 days.
Twin bed mattress/box spring up in loft will fall to floor just by looking at it. Watch your feet, it weighs.
Shower is tiny.
Grill is home to Jeff. Jeff is my friend. Please don't kill Jeff. Jeff loves peanut butter. Jeff is a mouse. We met Jeff the first night right before trying to light the grill for the first time. Grill is in ok shape. We ended up not using it after meeting Jeff. We used a Magma Grill we brought with us.
Jorge... thank you so much for all your very specific feedback! It’s was a huge help. Misti and I really appreciate it. We have replaced the grill with a new one but hope that your buddy was able to find another home. We also have responded to the wasp and bees input and should have that taken care of. Let us know if there is anything we can help you with in the future. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin on the Ridge and hope you stay with us again!
Beautiful cabin! Beautiful views!
My husband and I spent six days at this lovely spot. The cabin was incredibly clean and cozy. The views from the deck were amazing! :)
During our stay we did a lot of hiking on nearby trails and at Frozen Head park. One other note, if you’re traveling in the summer or early fall, we can vouch for the cabin’s air conditioning—it did a great job during our stay when the daytime temps were in the high 80s—the cabin stayed cool and comfortable! We had a wonderful trip and hope to return!
We had such a amazing stay. We came to the cabin to ride at Brimestone the trails were very accessible from the cabin. Beautiful views, wonderful cabin overall we had a amazing stay and defiantly hope to visit the cabin again.
This amazing cabin is on 50 acres of property which you can use to ride 4 wheelers, hunt, hike, fish or camp. You will not want to leave once you arrive, it is very peaceful and serene. It backs up to Brimstone Recreation Area.
