It is 2019 SO NOT NEW!
This rental was based on what we had read in various reviews and write-ups. We knew the place would be quiet and that was ok. The location was on the east of the island and one had to drive to get anywhere whether to swim, tour or get supplies, that was totally acceptable, knowing the island is a quiet island.
Our BIG shock was the state of the falsely advertised NEW condo unit.
First the positive notes.
Each morning we enjoyed the sunrise and beautiful view on the lanai, the resort was well groomed and the workers were always ready to chat! The pool was always clean as were the the bbqs. The library was well stocked and allowed us to do some reading by the pool or on the lanai..
Now for the realities...our rental started with the drop box situation, which has been addressed in previous reviews and not remedied apparently because we experienced the same time consuming situation!.
Yes the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking vessels, from which decade we do not want to say! Pots had to be soaked for two days to get hardened food off, all the dishes, utensils and pots were hand washed before using.
As written in one review, linens were top quality, well, again,we questioned in what decade were they purchased, only one hand towel smelled recent and it was washed every two days to keep it fresh!
The windows and screens were wiped down the first day we arrived as they were black! The floors were also wiped down by hand, not using the floor mop because it was black!
We attempted to clean the patio door, but gave up after three days. We will not list the amount of mildew found on various objects,(even the books, that is why we used the books in the common area!)
This review could go on and on with what we experienced during our stay, but we believe enough of a picture has been portrayed.
We contacted the owner early on during our stay, and even he had no words to say. He did say he forwarded our concerns to the cleaning person and we had hopes of a visit, but alas, nothing.
In conclusion, sometimes pictures are not “worth a thousand words.”The cleanliness of this unit and lack of assistance from the owner led to our generous rating. Our two stars were for the resort.
We can honestly say that the place was in a cleaner state when we left.
We hope this is a wake up call for the owners.
We are experienced world travellers and have rented some very different places through VRBO, but never have we encountered a place in this state.
Wonderful for the price
This is not Buckingham palace, but for what it costs it's a value you can't beat. The unit is in decent shape, the kitchen contains just about anything you could ever need and the view from the lanai is breathtaking. Prior to and during my stay John was exceptionally responsive to my questions. I had a great rental experience.

Molokai is great if you are wanting a peaceful, quiet vacation. This condo had everything we needed and then some. There are not a lot of options for lodging on Molokai however I thought we choose very well.

Beautiful unit not good for children
Nice unit, owner a bit odd. Left eight rambling messages when returning my call for entrance key and - sink leaks! Didn't know sink was leaking inside cabinet. Until I got a call from the owner saying water was pouring downstairs. Claimed he didn't know about the problem but then asked me if the bowl under the sink was overflowing? Also questioned as to why key was not in the lock box as management needed to get into the unit. There were two keys. I had one and my husband had one - now I'm not sure but it seems kind of funny that management would have to enter a unit without the guests being there? There was no water running all day as we left after breakfast.
Notes on the door from people below about children's footsteps, banging on the ceiling... my children joined up with another couple of children at the pool and management initially held me responsible for all nine kids in the pool... never said a word to the other parents.
By the third day of our stay we were done. Couldn't use the kitchen, didn't want to go back to the pool so we asked to leave. We asked to kindly refund the last night as the kitchen was unusable and this has not been an enjoyable trip. Owner argued and rambled on. Who needs the hassle!
Extremely difficult and unpleasant. Even though our public calendar shows that our Unit was scheduled for "back-to-backs"s at both the beginning and of their their visit, she wrote asking to check-in early and check-out late.
She was courteously refused.
There was no talk of a plumbing issue until the day before they left.
After check-in, the neighbors down below had to call in requesting that her children be stopped from running around like wild animals. She then took her party down to the pool area, where they continued to do the same -- resulting I'm Management's being cslled In again. She then called me asking to have her last days' rent forgiven, saying that she wanted to check-out that same day. with that much notice. She then demand´d she that she get what she wanted or that she would write a bad review, which I presume that she has done.
