Two ground floor apartments in a pleasant architect-designed private home in the countryside.

CORATINA

Coratina is the principal of the two, having two bedrooms, a bathroom and exceptionally large, open plan, living, dining and kitchen area. Sleeping accommodation is for a maximum of 4 adults, plus two children, or 2 adults with a maximum of 4 children. This makes it an ideal choice for a luxury family holiday.

Both bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. The bathroom has a full size bath, wash hand basin, toilet, bidet, and a separate shower cubicle.

The living area has two comfortable sofas, digital TV, DVD player, and CD player. There is a large selection of DVD's, CD's and books for our guests to use.

There are two wireless access points for guests to use free of charge, on their smart phone or computer, and computers can be provided for guests who'd rather not pack their own.

FRANTOIO

Frantoio, the one bedroom apartment, sleeps two adults. One child can also be accommodated by prior arrangement.

Although regular-sized it has everything a couple would need for a relaxing holiday.

The compact kitchen is equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. For those who want to cook there is also sufficient crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils.

The compact bathroom has a wash hand basin, toilet, bidet, and shower. There is a heated towel rail, which is much appreciated for Winter Breaks.

The situation is exclusive - there are only two adjacent holiday lettings within the grounds and Coratina is the principal one. This means our guests have exclusive use of the magnificent swimming pool area - thought to be the largest private pool in the entire Province. Complimenting this Coratina is more generously proportioned than the great majority of local holiday villas.

I think the test of any holiday is how long it stay's with you after you get back and I must say that Anna and I are still talking about how good it was - the pool, the fresh fruit and veg, the apartment and the weather - fantastic.

Brilliant !!!

We stayed in the larger of the two apartments. Both are on the ground floor of the owner's villa. Ours was extremely well-equiped, spotlessly clean and spacious even allowing for 4 adults and a child. The owners - Margaret and David - are charming and nothing was too much trouble on the odd occasion we needed help or advice. Margaret provided a weekly change of linen and had left basic provisions in the fridge for our arrival. The swimming pool was very clean but on the cool side. There was plenty of information about excursions and where to visit, particulary recommended restaurants. Our holiday was made even more enjoyable by the hospitality of the owners. Thoroughly recommended !

Luxurious

We had a wonderful two weeks at The Olive Grove and the impressions we got from the on-line description were not disappointed at all.

Both my husband and our two daughters (12 & 14y) thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt well looked after without feeling intruded on.

Our late arrival (11pm) was no problem for Margaret & David who welcomed us personally. Margaret had also provided some really helpful tips to beat the queues at the airport/rental car service and given excellent descriptions to find our way to the property in the dark.

We found the apartment spacious, spotlessly clean, modern and well equipped. There was lots of information about sights, restaurants and day trips. Margaret had also ensured we had some breakfast essentials in the fridge for our first morning (not charged) and Antonio the gardener provided us with fresh figs (delicious), tomatoes, peppers and cacti fruit all through our two weeks at no cost at all. There is a Lidl shop just a three minute drive away and we found everything we needed for our stay there.

The 25m pool was ours for the whole two weeks and we spend many happy hours swimming and splashing in the pristine waters or resting on the comfortable loungers around the pool. Illuminations at night allowed a rare night time swim, which was extra special.

Torre de Gauceta nature reserve beaches are 15 minutes drive away and you can choose between more sandy stretches or rocks for snorkelling. Specchiola beach is more developed with sun lounger rentals and beach bars and equally near. As expected it was busy on the beaches in August, but mainly with Italian families.

If there is anything we would suggest to make The Olive Grove even more attractive and relaxing, it would be to arrange some permanent shaded areas. We found that the provided parasols would often not fare well in the breeze. Shaded areas would be particularly useful near the pool, but also for the area in front of the apartment with the lovely wooden table and chairs. If this area had something like a pergola providing shade one could spend more time there as well eating, reading outside and would be able to enjoy the lovely view up the garden and drive including the pool.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. We are glad that you enjoyed your holiday. We did so much internal renovation work this year that the builder didn't have time to even start on the ambitious things we have planned east of the pool. Next year the plants will have grown across the new rear courtyard and we will have transplanted some of the palm trees around the pool, and started with the highly ambitious "Trajan's Court". This will eventually provide a very shaded dining area well away from the apartments for guests to use for relief from the sun. We have also bought a pergola to be erected outside the front of the apartments during the summer months. In former years the guests enjoyed the shade of the palm trees, but, in common with the entire Med, the palm weavil devastated these. As you will have noted, the young palm trees are now growing a pace. In a few years these will be back to where we were. At the moment we are working on terrestrial/satellite TV in all bedrooms, in addition to the new smart TV you enjoyed in Coratina's main bedroom.

A wonderful villa with a fantastic swimming pool.

A fantastic holiday! Our children aged 13 and 17 loved the 25 metre pool as did my husband and I. The weather was glorious and we spent many happy hours in the pool. Margaret and her husband couldn't have been more helpful - they even sourced gluten free food for my husband so the start of our holiday was stress free. Please thank the gardener for the wonderful figs and delicious tomatoes he left for us. A truly wonderful holiday- thank you!

Margaret is a very kind and helpfull host who does everything for her guests. the pool is amazing. it was a little bit inconvenient that the tv was not available, but for the rest it was super. It was unfortunate that a storm just before you arrived damaged our aerial amplifier and the TV cabling, so it wasn't possible to receive the TV signal. We had a vy special stay at Margaret and David's, the pool was amazing, the apartment comfortable and Margaret had put so much thought into lots of thoughtful details. Property is very spacious & ideal for families

The property is ideal, set back from the road but within easy reach of the all the main attractions of Puglia (car essential). The hosts were very welcoming, providing some essential provisions on arrival, plus a few bottles of wine (very nice, thanks). The children (4.5yrs & 23months) loved the swimming pool and the toddler pool enabled our youngest son to gain confidence in the water.

I would recommend this property to friends travelling to the Puglia Region.

Finding places in Puglia's, narrow, winding roads can be difficult - especially so when it's dark and you are tired after a long journey. 'No problem' with The Olive Grove, as the long main drive joins the totally straight Appian Way North-South. In fact almost the entire quick run from Brindisi Airport is on two segments of the ancient Via Appia.

When you arrive you will find the fridge and larder stocked the basics such as tea, coffee, milk sugar, etc. Additionally you can pre-book a 'first-shop' and be presented only with the supermarket tab - there's no service charge or mark-up. The lounge area has an open fireplace, a lower ceiling and two comfy sofas creating a cozy family area. There's a modern digital-terrestrial TV, DVD player/recorder, and access to English and Italian language TV.
